Chapter 12 - Stupid and Useless
[Mutant Wolf (Elite) Lvl. 15]
[HP: 5000/5000]
Arh-Woooooooo
The Elite Mutant Wolf let out a loud howl and was followed by other Mutant Wolves, who jumped up and began walking in his direction. In unison, the Mutant Wolves howled at varying levels from 3 to 15.
Ethan had no idea what was happening. He was just staring at the door, trying to process the situation.
He was in a very bad position. He was cornered and trapped, unable to move. The door was his only option, but he was afraid that it wouldn't be enough to escape. Time seemed to stand still as he frantically searched for a way to escape the impending danger. Breaking through the back wall didn't seem like the right choice.
He got an idea and quickly opened the door. A large Mutant Wolf was waiting for him on the other side with its red eyes fixated on him, leaving him feeling scared.
"W-what the hell?"
The large and threatening wolf stepped forward, and Ethan's legs trembled as he ran for his life. He didn't dare to glance back as he sprinted away from the approaching Mutant Wolves. He focused on his movements and made sure he didn't make any mistakes that could endanger his life.
After taking a few steps, Ethan noticed a Mutant Wolf from the corner of his eye, coming from ahead. He quickly glanced around and saw Mutant Wolves waiting from all directions.
He felt the ground beneath him shaking as the other Wolves began to growl.
In a split second, he manifested his Mjolnir in his right hand and attempted to strike down the Mutant Wolf blocking his path. However, a taller and bigger figure blocked him, revealing itself to be the Mutant Wolf Elite.
Ethan was thrown off balance and felt like he was about to be attacked by the monster. He knelt, his hands firmly holding the Mjolnir.
That was the elite wolf, the boss, the strongest among the others. One of which seemed calmer than the rest. Every step it took made the other Wolves fall silent. There was no escape. He knew this would be the end of his life.
The Elite Wolf snorted and approached him with slow steps. It stopped, staring at him with its red eyes. It bared its fangs and lunged toward him.
Ethan was completely still, his muscles tense, his mind blank, and his pulse racing. All his strength seemed to vanish suddenly.
"Oh shit!" Ethan flinched when the wolf in front of him threw a claw at him and sent him crashing to the ground.

[MP: 30/30]
[Energy: 3/30]
[Willpower: 12/100]
[Weight: 830/910]
Ethan felt his life had been taken from him. He pondered intensely on how to break free from being surrounded by the monsters.
Ethan lay on the ground, his left arm badly injured, and his chest was bleeding profusely. He attempted to stand, but the wolf stepped forward and put its paw on him.
"What are you doing, bitch!?!" he exclaimed in alarm. It was clear that the wolf was enjoying the game of tormenting its hapless victim before delivering the final blow.
The Elite Wolf snorted again, and its eyes gleamed.
Ethan felt like every second was an eternity.
He grabbed his hammer, which was near him, but his arms could not reach far enough. He was in imminent danger, yet he still resisted -- he did not want to perish there.
Ethan had led a dull life until now, yet he never stopped striving. After his dad left, he worked diligently to help his mom repay his father's debt. Despite being obligated to, he kept battling for his mom and Sierra's happiness.
"I won't die here!" he yelled. "I have my mom and Sierra!"
He has worked hard to get to this point and has achieved a high power rating. He is sure there must be a way out from this stupid challenge thing.
Arh-Wooooo
Arh-Wooooo
The Mutant Wolf in front of him howled, followed by the other. He heard shrill voices coming from all directions, like they were singing a death song.
The wolf yanked its foot off Ethan's chest and let out a howling call that was echoed by the others.
Ethan quickly rolled onto his side and prepared to grab his hammer, but the wolf bowled him over and inflicted another scratch on his shoulder.
"This is too tough!" shouted Ethan in despair.
"How can humans get past this? I'm all alone here. Where did everyone else go?"
Ethan pulled himself up, bellowing, "Equipt Mjolnir!" and his giant hammer appeared in his grasp.
He surveyed all the monsters surrounding him, seeking the weakest one. With all his strength, he hefted the hammer, which seemed so heavy it might pull his arm off.
He lunged at the nearest monster just as the others rushed him.
"Shit shit shit!" He abandoned his hammer and tried to use the trick he'd come up with to get away. He had to draw them away so he could teleport back to his hammer and flee.
He tried to run away, but the wolf in front of him pounced and tackled him.
"Get off me!" he screamed, but the wolf held him tight.
He looked around and saw the other monsters were closing in. They were going to kill him!
Ethan threw a powerful blow with his hammer and escaped; he was still attempting to persist.
Unfortunately, the monsters were more agile than he'd thought; they attacked him from all sides. He ran, jumping desperately as he sought safety.
‘Stupid!!!’ Ethan's head jolted as he heard an unexpected voice, not from the air, but it seemed to come straight into his mind.
"Golem?" he thought.
"Stupid! Useless!" the voice said.
He experienced the same feeling he had when the Stone Golem had spoken to them before, but the voice he heard this time was different.
"Stupid! Why do I have to fall in the hands of a useless person like you!?" the voice added.
He thought to himself, 'Who are you??'
As Ethan continued to flee from the wolves, he wondered if the sound was his hammer.
"Are you Mjolnir?" He asked.
"Are you Mjolnir?" Ethan asked questioningly."Of course! Who else?" The voice replied confidently."Why did you only start talking now? Why didn't you say something earlier?" Ethan asked. "I don't like seeing weak people like you," the voice answered."What kind of weakness are you referring to? What do you anticipate us humans to do? Do you assume we are accustomed to battling creatures like them?" he protested."Kill them!" The voice shouted."What do you think I'm doing?" he replied. "Playing hide and seek with them? No, I'm trying to kill these cute dogs.""Kill them!" the voice repeated. "You should consider yourself lucky that I'm here," the voice added. "Lucky?" Ethan asked, puzzled.Ethan was frustrated. "How could I kill them when I can't even lift my own weapon?" Ethan asked. “What kind of luck only allows me to use my skills sparingly? Mass Killing? How could I possibly cause mass killing by just throwing you around a few times only?" He continued. “That’s because you’
Ethan wakes up, not knowing how long he has been asleep. His eyes slowly open, and he begins to feel the energy in his body returning, though pain lingers in certain parts of his body."Ugh..." Ethan moaned, opening his eyes.Transparent green writings filled his sight.[You've Killed Lvl. 5 Mutant Wolves][You've Killed Lvl. 15 Elite Mutant Wolf][ … ][You've received a Purple Grade Mutant Wolf Crystal][You've received an Indigo Grade Mutant Wolf Crystal][ ... ][You've received a Purple Grade Heavy Hide Leg of Silent Hunter][You've received an Indigo Grade Heavy Hide Helmet of Silent Hunter][You've received a Blue Grade Mutant Wolf Soul Ring][Level Up][Level Up][ … ][You achieved an excellent result][Monsters Killed: 73][Player Killed: 1][Calculating the Reward][You've received 10 Stats Points][You've received 1 Random Ability Scroll][Random the Ability][You have received new Power: Dominator]He opened his eyes wide, dazzled by the light; he quickly closed them, til

Ethan was embarrassed by how he had acted and was overwhelmed by the rewards he had received. He quickly put on the t-shirt and shorts Olivia had prepared as his clothes had disappeared. The clothes were a bit too big for him, but he had no other choice since all the items he had stored in his Inventory had disappeared. It was likely that his items had been pushed out when he had acquired rewards from killing monsters. After Ethan had changed, the girl left the room and asked Ethan to follow her. Ethan stepped out of the room and made his way to the stairs leading to a large room that could fit dozens of people. He noticed the couch and the girl he had met previously on one side. He walked over and sat on the same couch after the girl nodded in approval. "Hi, my name is Olivia," she said, standing up and offering her hand for a handshake. Ethan stood up and shook her hand. "My name's Ethan," he said briefly, then smiled. They returned to their seats. Olivia had a cheerful expr
Ethan picked up the glass of water and took a sip. He wiped his mouth and glanced at Olivia, who was now looking away in embarrassment. He spoke up, "If yesterday's attack was as big as it was, and we don't have that many players, I'm not sure how we can defeat that many monsters."“Do you think yesterday's attack was successful because of who was behind it? If you hadn't taken out all the monsters at once, there could have been even more victims.” Olivia asked.Ethan thought about her question. He recalled the chaos during the attack. "I can't say for sure, but I don't think I can pull off something like that every time. It's costly to make up for the damage caused.” Ethan answered after thinking about it carefully. "I mean, yesterday's attack was so huge because it was a special and urgent situation, and I can't just create those conditions whenever I want. There must be a way to use this system to our advantage to ensure fewer people die if there's another one."Olivia pondered ove
Olivia's statement left Ethan speechless. He gazed at her, seeing a cheerful yet determined face. She spoke again, her voice heavy with sorrow. "My father was killed in the last meteor strike. That's why I'm determined to fight. I have every reason to fight." She smiled at Ethan, but he could sense the sadness beneath it. He couldn't help but wonder what it would be like if he were in her place. He then looked out of the window towards the setting sun. They didn't know how many days they would survive and whether it would all end today. And not knowing where the monsters will attack from makes it even harder for them to defend against them. "Sign a contract with Olivia." He muttered. Olivia looked confused by his words. She turned around to see that his eyes were closed as though sleeping. She stared at him for a while before approaching him, shaking him gently. He opened his eyes and gave her a look of surprise. [Secure bond with Player Olivia Lvl. 2 has been accepted.] [The
They were both back in the living room a few minutes later, sitting on the same sofa. They stayed silent for a few minutes. Olivia had taken a shower and was wearing a white dress and blue skirt. The sweet smell of her perfume filled Ethan's nose. Her blonde hair, soft and shiny, caught the light in an elegant way. He smiled and looked at her with affection. "What was the result of the last attack? And what happened to the people after I slept for two days?" he asked. Olivia looked at him blankly and tried to answer, but nothing came out. In fact, she didn't understand what she had to tell him about all this either. Instead, she focused on watching his face, looking at every detail. She stared at his beautiful eyes, then moved to look at his long eyelashes. He had very nice eyebrows too, which helped create his perfect face. His lips seemed like the most amazing part of his features to her. The same could be said for the rest of his body, which was incredibly well-formed and handsome
"Fang is a good name for this spirit beast." Ethan replied. [The Mutant Wolf was given a new name - Fang - and Evolution is to be Processed.] Fang's body began to condense from a puff of black and blue smoke, becoming fleshy and retaining energy that seemed to burn like fire. He stepped closer to Fang and tenderly stroked its fur. Olivia was observing him, cautiously approached, and stood behind him, peeking at Fang from a distance. "It’s harmless," Ethan said with a smile. "Why don't you try touching it?" She slowly approached Fang, who was almost the same
