Cleaning up a destroyed body, especially a hundred-year-old dead body, is not as easy as it sounds. Jennifer and I had to get to Todd, but we just could not leave Mrs. Williams’ dead corpse, however many pieces she was blown into, lying around on the ground outside of the school laboratory. Tomorrow was a school day, and this place would be riddled with nosey little kids and intuitive, barely, adults swarming the school like ants on an ant hill.
Just as Jennifer and I began to clean up the remnants of Mrs. Williams, a disconcerting noise rumbled from inside Todd’s windowless white van with the fucked-up hood and magical exotic Italian engine. Stanley the poodle flinched in fear, but he was quickly learning that we were his new owners and would let nothing bad happen to him. The van began to rock left to right and front and back, a sort of shimmy of dancing.
My main concern was unconscious Jackson, had something snuck into the van while we were
I suppose to some of you out there reading this play by play of my life and how I died, turning slightly evil is not a huge deal. It is not a deal breaker as far as being a proper good human being is concerned. For me, it hit my soul like a ton of bricks falling from the top of the empire state building with all of the force landing on me as if I were an ant just minding my own business, it was taxing to say the least. I was not proud of myself; I did not take pride in the fact that I had bare handedly killed another living person. It was something that had to be done to ensure the safety of my little brother and my alliance member and dear friend Todd. Todd was sitting up on the laboratory table, rubbing his arm where I had forced my pendant into his arm in order to increase our chances at saving his life. His face was that of a small child, bewildered and confused. I suppose those are the same thing but using both of them really drives m
With a crank of the key, Todd started his horribly disfigured truck. His face lit up with excitement as the twelve cylinders bellowed out a symphony of pure excitement. Before he shifted into drive, Todd blipped the throttle and listened to the wild beast of an engine sing out a gorgeous song of power and grace. We sat for a while, waiting for the excitement to wear off so we could get on the road and get to my house. Todd snaked his way down the road, driving while still in a state of shock or age regression, towards my house so that we could finally address the demon Sarah issue and ensure that we kept her alive so she would not be reborn again stronger than before. Every few seconds or so, Todd would smash the gas and send the van swerving and sliding down the road leaving massively thick rubber markings and swooshing noxious plumes of smoke into the relatively fresh air. Jennifer, Jackson, and I were tossed around like rag dolls, even thou
Under the pile of wood that Jennifer had placed on top of demon Sarah, hisses and growls slithered out, fighting the air for dominance. Once my dad went inside, Todd rejoined our squad, (Jennifer, Jackson, and me) as we started to brainstorm how we could block out Sarah’s abilities and where we could store her. Putting this wild demon bitch back into my closet, that was not going to happen. I had a few ideas, but I was going to need help and I would certainly need the rest of this miniature alliance to concur and help me out. The more wood we removed, the louder and more aggressive the hostile noises became. None of us were concerned, we had secured her very well this time and Jennifer had so kindly removed her arm at the shoulder. Keep her alive, just long enough for us to save Todd, that was the plan at the time and Jennifer’s execution of that plan was superb. Her quick thinking while we were severely under pressure likely helped to sav
We were literally standing around demon Sarah, all of us, Jennifer, Jackson, Todd, and me, as the front door of my house opened. It had to be my mom or dad, no one else was in the house. A couple of issues are in play here, for starters, the four of us were standing around demon Sarah with her ripped off arm as she was bound with rope, also, we had Todd with us. My parents did not know Todd and the fact that he was standing around with a bunch of children, that raised a lot of flags to those that did not know him. The time to react to this new variable, the addition of my mom or dad to this equation, was literally three to five seconds. It did not matter if it was my mom or my dad, either one would be very problematic or would not understand why us children were hanging around a fat, bald man that drove a windowless white van. With all of us around, we had plenty of special abilities to make things better, it was going to come down to our reacti
The voice that rang out from down the street was not familiar to me, not immediately at least. Jennifer and I were following Todd with his metallic black box and Jackson with demon Sarah over his shoulder, double his size. This should not be a problem, as long as it was a human, we had more than enough abilities to go around to hand one nosey onlooker. My issue with it all was the fact that we just could not catch a break as far as a little peace and quiet is concerned. He said, “You young kids, what are you up to? Why are you hanging around with an old man, I know he is not a part of your family? I have a keen sense for this sort of thing. What is wrong with that girl the little boy is carrying? You have some explaining to do, I have the police on dial, all I have to do is press the green button.” Todd and Jackson continued their progress to the van to off load the equipment and demon somewhere in the back of Todd’s cluttere
Sarah, smug and cocky, was lying on the floor of the van laughing as loudly as possible with her one arm barely able to slap her thigh, as she was securely tied up, and the other arm, well, it was gone. Todd was still sitting in the driver’s seat of the van as we still sat sideways in the middle of the main road, staying at the accident scene with dumbfounded eyes. I was having a terribly tough time with the fact that I had just led this woman to her death. There was no doubt in my mind, she was going to haunt the shit out of me. My initial thoughts were the fact that I was truly not a bad person. I followed one instruction from Nurse Helen to ensure the growth and solidarity of the alliance and I had taken Mrs. Williams out of the equation for the sake of saving Todd. Now, we had this old woman, that seemingly knew Mrs. Tannell, and to get her to leave us alone and not call the police, I shot her finger off, and Jennifer had wished her home, re
The trip to the edge of town, to the abandoned K-Mart building that we were planning on storing demon Sarah at, was a short duration but felt like an eternity as my brain explored the deepest, darkest areas of my suppressed terror thoughts. I just had a very bad feeling that something wild was going to happen and cause us to miss our goal of locking demon Sarah away for the foreseeable future. Jennifer, Jackson, and Todd all seemed focused and ready to get this task over with, but I just could not get my brain wrapped around this simple task, not with the death of the old woman weighing me down. My eyes fixated on demon Sarah, as she winced at every bump in the road. The floor of the van was not ideal for a person to be lying on, there was no give or take on the metallic floor. Every bump sent a small vibration of potential pain up my legs to my knees, I could only imagine what the
The four of us, not counting demon Sarah, traversed through the dark, damp abandoned K-Mart. Careful to stay in line with Todd, we watched each other’s feet as we progressed towards the area where we would be storing demon Sarah behind a false wall. Sporadic glints of light cracked out in the darkness, lighters, lighters being used by nefarious people for dangerous things. Their faces were hidden well in the darkness, only showing when their lighter ignited for a few seconds. There had to be a hundred people in here, easily. Jackson had volunteered to carry demon Sarah over his shoulder, we surrounded him as we followed Todd to ensure he did not get snatched up in the darkness. Jennifer, taking up the rear of the group, carried the metallic black forcefield producing box. The tie-dyed shirt guy with the missing teeth had vanished into the darkness but I could feel his eyes burning into me as I followed Todd towards the far back corner of t
