Chapter 7: Spar Class
It was Sky Crane Academy who discovered that teaching magic to students would be effective and efficient if classes involved not only academics, but practical execution of the acquired knowledge as well. That was why in Sky Crane Academy, every class in the morning solely focused in academics, while classes in afternoon were all practical exercises.
Cultivation Class, Mana Training I, Basic Order Casting, and Spar Class I — these were the afternoon classes that were offered to the first year students of Sky Crane Academy. Among the mentioned classes, Spar Class was the most loved by majority of the learners, including the first lady of Grandeur Family, Ryuen.
“Commence,” declared Tyriad.
The moment Ryuen heard the signal from her instructor to start the spar, a wide grin was visible on her lips and she instantly chanted her spell, “20th Fire: Fireball.”
A ball of flame was seen emerging on Ryuen’s right hand right after the young lady finished her incantation. When the magic was completed, Ryuen blasted the fireball towards the man who was a distance away from her. However, thereafter the lady’s attack, she prepared another fireball as she was certain that her opponent would be able to dodge her magic.
“Darling, what is this about again? You are making me sad,” uttered Paul, the moment he saw the incoming magic of Ryuen. Paul was the name of the young man who happened to be Ryuen’s spar partner.
The speed that the fireball was approaching at Paul was not that fast, that was why he was able to evade it with ease. But just as he was done dodging the magic, another fireball was coming at him. There was no time for Paul to dodge it, so he immediately casted a magical defense. “20th Water: Water Shield.”
A shield made of water instantly appeared in front of Paul and it met the fireball. Paul didn’t slack off after a successful defense as he began running around the arena. The young man was sure that Ryuen’s attack wouldn’t end there — the woman would sure unleash another set of magic. A sigh of relief escaped on Paul’s lips as his predictions turned into reality. Countless fireballs were just being fired towards the place where he was formerly standing.
Realizing Paul was nowhere to be found on the place that Ryuen she her fireballs, Ryuen felt even more contempt when she saw Paul on the other side of the arena. “Now, you dare run around? Why don’t you take my beating?"
There were more than ten arrows made of fire at the top of Ryuen’s figure right now. She decided to level up the game, understanding the fact that the fireballs were too easy for Paul. The moment the young lady let out a gesture, the arrows turned at Paul’s current location and flew towards the young man. “18th Fire: Blazing Arrows.”
“What did I even do wrong?” the confused Paul said in disbelief as he could only chant another defense spell. “19th Water: Wetcoat.”
As Paul began to dispel the arrows that were coming at him using his brute force, his body was covered by a layer of water. He decided to take on Ryuen’s magic as the 18th Fire was an order that chases the opponent. There was no way to dodge the blazing arrows, because it needed to be confronted.
“Don’t act like you don’t know. What were you thinking when you sent that marriage proposal?” exclaimed Ryuen while she was catching her breath. The young lade just expended a percentage of mana in her recent attacks.
“Don’t you wanna marry me, darling?” with a teary-eyed face, Paul replied.
But when Ryuen heard what came out from Paul’s mouth, her face turned red and she screamed, “Do you want to die?”
The flame particles that were gathering on Ryuen’s hand right now were much intense than before. When the young man saw this, all the hair of his body stood up. He knew what was coming and he would be doomed for sure. However, just as he was about to tap Instructor Tyriad to admit defeat, he heard the young lady spoke.
“Don’t ever try forfeiting, Paul. You should have been prepared to be roasted the moment you made your family sent that letter.”
At this moment, Paul could only gulp and prepare to defend on Ryuen’s strongest magic. If he dared to admit defeat, he was sure that the lady would make him suffer more even and it would be far worse than facing Ryuen’s magic — it was something that would pain his heart. A bitter smile was now to be seen on Paul’s lips, but he would never regret what he had done.
“16th Fire: Surge of Flame,” Ryuen shouted. A wave of fire was continuously coming out from his hands and it travelled straight towards Paul.
“19th Water: Wetcoat,” hurriedly chanted Paul; for the second time, a layer of water was covering his body.
As the seemingly endless wave of fire clashed towards the defense that was protecting Paul, that layer of water was evaporating at an insane speed. Paul had to expend more mana than necessary to maintain his magic, so that the flames would not turn him into ashes. Paul was having a hard time keeping up his defense, because Ryuen was attacking using a 16th order and the young man was defending it with a 19th order.
“Darling… I’m sorry,” voiced out Paul as he was hoping that Ryuen would end her magic.
Contrarily, no matter the shout of plea made by Paul, the lady pretended to be deaf and paid no attention to his apologies. The surge of flame continued to ram and exhaust the water that was trying to shelter Paul and what the young man could only do was to endure the opponent’s attacks.
“Please, darling. Let’s stop this now.”
“Make me,” teased Ryuen.
The next second, the intensity of Ryuen’s 16th order became stronger, but she was keeping it at a rate that Paul would be able to defend; she had no intention of harming the young man. However, when the lady saw Paul making a struggling face, the story became different.
During Ryuen's previous matches with Paul, the young man had never make such a face, while having to defend her magic. Now, it appeared to Ryuen that Paul was mocking her. Once more, Ryuen increased the intensity of her fire.
“You want more of it, huh,” thought Ryuen in his mind.
“20th Fire: Fireball.” A ball of fire was then seen coming from the audience and it flew straight to Ryuen.
Being a family with a long history in the military, the Grandeur Family managed to raise not only countless colonels, but brigadier general, major general, lieutenant general, and even a general. The people from Land of Lahell do look up at the Grandeur Family as general makers. Because of such expectations, the heirs of the family were forced to train since they were young and that included Ryuen.
Day and night… it was training that Ryuen Grandeur had to go through the moment she was born. That hellish training benefited Ryuen a lot though; she managed not only to become strong but her battle sense was greatly developed. Presently, although Ryuen was focused on attacking Paul, the young lady’s battle sense made her discover that an order was coming behind her back.
Ryuen halted his attack on Paul, turned her back, and casted the same magic that was flying towards her. “20th Fire: Fireball.”
Chapter 8: It Was Ryle Who Interfered! It was an unspoken rule that during spars, no one should interfere, unless necessary. The term necessary would only be valid to circumstances wherein the life of any participant was threatened, otherwise any interference would not be tolerated.“What the hell was that?” Ryuen shouted and threw a deadly gaze to the perpetrator who dared to sneak an attack her. "I demand a very reasonable explanation."The person who was responsible for the launching of fireball was no other than Ryle. After the failed attack on Ryuen, he went to take his seat and act as if nothing had happened. The way that Ryle acted incited an uproar — his behavior was too overbearing.Interfering a spar and making it appear as if it never took place? Who would do that? Now, it was not only Ryuen who was giving Ryle an angered look, but his classmates as well. Before any unnecessary thing would hap
Chapter 9: It Can Be”YOU NO LONGER can practice magic... because of me.” Ryuen couldn’t stop her sobbing as she sat beside Paul’s bed. Right now, Paul was being treat and was resting at the Sky Crane Academy’s clinic. “Why did you not even forfeit?!”Paul bitterly smiled as he honestly replied, “Darling, did you forget? You warned me to not do so. Being the obedient husband that I am, it was my pleasure to cater your request.”Ryuen was given another reason to cry harder. It appeared to her that this incident took place because she threatened Paul to not give up the match. If only she didn’t make such an unfair request, the leakage on Paul’s mana core would have been prevented. The young lady of Grandeur Family was full of regrets on her actions.“Darling, it’s okay. I don’t blame you.” Paul proceeded to grab Ryuen’s hands and gave it a kiss. His condition did

Ryle was playing jokes with himself. The young Ryle was bored, so he was theorizing anything he could think of to satiate his boredom; this was Ryle's hobby in his past life. The young man was still sane and he was sure that he was in the same world; he wasn't even sure if there were other worlds that existed, he just wanted to kill time.Time passed by quickly; Ryle could feel that he had the mana now to execute a healing magic. Wasting to time, he began to circulate his mana and uttered the incantation in his mind. His expression turned ugly when nothing happened, so with difficulty, he opened his mouth and said, "18th Healing: Stiches of Recuperation!"To no avail, Ryle could still not feel his mana responding to him. If someone was able to witness Ryle do such thing, they would laugh their lungs out 'till they die — that was the most shameful thing a wizard could ever commit. Ryle was somehow embarrassed, at the same

He searched for the records of myriad magics in Jadren's memory, but to no avail. At this moment, he was hardly catching his breath; tears were seemingly endless as it continuously flowed out from his eyes."Be grateful, as you are fated to protect the Land of Lahell," the grinning old man who was staring at Jadren said; he was the culprit behind Jadren's miserable state."Curse on you!" Jadren could only helplessly say it in his mind; he didn't have any strength left to open his mouth. "How I wish I was stronger..."Jadren could feel that he only had a minute or so 'till his life would come to an end; the thought made him cry harder.
