Fighting with strangers

The next day, at four o'clock in the morning, a rooster crowed so loudly that it disturbed Fen Lian's deep sleep and woke her up. Fen Lian was a little startled by the unfamiliarity of his presence. But a few seconds after she regained consciousness, she realized that she was indeed in the Four Seasons Village and not Jiangnan anymore. Fen Lian immediately got up from her bed and searched for her grandfather and uncle.

However, Fen Lian didn't see either of them in front of her, so she chose to circle around the place to look for her uncle and grandfather. Here, it was a little difficult to find a place because it was Fen Lian's first time coming to this place, so she didn't know the places by heart.

Until she reached the backyard of the temple, and it was true that her uncle and grandfather were in the backyard cleaning the area, Without further ado, Fen Lian approached the two of them.

"Morning uncle! Morning grandpa!" Fen Lian shouted excitedly.

Suddenly, the two of them immediately stopped what they were doing and looked at Fen Lian, who was standing excitedly behind them. After that, they also stood in front of Fen Lian.

"You're awake," said the teacher's uncle.

Fen Lian nodded.

"What are uncle and grandfather doing? Is there anything Fen Lian can do to help?" She offered.

But the grandfather shook his head. "Nothing; you better sit down and wait for your uncle to finish cooking," he said.

Fen Lian snorted softly at the grandfather's subtle rejection. Usually, Fen Lian always did heavy activities in the morning when in Jiangnan; it actually didn't matter if she helped the two of them now; it was just that this rejection made her dare not offer herself again. So she could only stay in place while watching her uncle, who was doing the activity with her grandfather.

Currently, the two of them are tidying up the rocks on the edge of the large yard to make it look neat. Previously, this place looked very dirty and neglected, especially since the large training yard was left barren and messy. It should be understood that Xui's grandfather lived here alone, so there was no one to take care of him at all.

Until a few seconds later, Fen Lian had already felt bored with the situation. In the end, she chose to offer to help again.

"Uncle Zhang!"

Zhang turned his head back to look at Fen Lian. "What's wrong?" He asked.

"Let me help you; I'm already bored with my current activities. Just standing still while watching Uncle move around makes me feel a bit frustrated," Fen Lian said.

Zhang straightened up, then turned his body to stare at Fen Lian. "You want to help?" He asked.

Fen Lian nodded.

"Come with Uncle!" He invited her.

Without further ado, Fen Lian got up from her seat and followed Zhang behind her. After that, the two of them left Grandpa A Xui alone in the courtyard.

Once outside the temple, Fen Lian wondered where she was going.

"Where are we going, uncle?" Fen Lian asked Uncle Zhang.

"To the market," he replied briefly.

After that, they continued their journey to the market, which was their destination. The journey this time took a little longer, but they traveled on A Xui's grandfather's horse, so for any distance, the journey could still be handled well because they only rode on the horse while the horse walked.

When they arrived at the market, Uncle Zhang immediately got off the horse, not forgetting to tie it to a tree, after which he and Fen Lian went to look for the ingredients he needed to cook breakfast in the morning. It was still five o'clock in the morning, so the market here was still quiet, unlike the market in Jiangnan, which had been busy since three o'clock in the morning.

Uncle Zhang chose the groceries, while Fen Lian herself just followed behind while carrying the items Zhang had bought. For about three minutes, they circled around the place to buy the items they needed until they came to a meat market. They stopped for a moment to buy a few kilos of meat for the soup later. When they were busy choosing, suddenly a burly man came with a group of his men. It seemed that this man was very arrogant and creepy.

Zhang initially thought that the man was going shopping just like him, but who would have thought that this man was a market thug who came to extort sellers? Seeing the commotion, Zhang immediately put his hands on the man's shoulders and beat him up.

The young man fell to the ground, but a few seconds later he got up and ordered his troops to attack the two of them. A fight broke out between them, and Fen Lian joined in the attack.

"Damn man! How dare you come here to fight me!" She spoke very arrogantly to Zhang.

Without further ado, Zhang immediately attacked the man without giving him a chance to retaliate. The two of them hit each other, while some of the man's men also attacked Zhang at the same time. However, it did not make him feel overwhelmed because fighting two people at once had become something familiar to him. Until it came to Fen Lian, who attacked the two men's troops fiercely. Fen Lian's ability to fight was extraordinary; even though her cultivation was very poor, she was able to draw even between the two.

"Mercy... Mercy... Mercy..."

"Wake up, stupid thugs!"

"Please forgive me. I admit my mistake. Please don't finish me!" He pleaded from underneath Zhang.

One of the members had already collapsed to the ground, leaving only the burly young man to beg Zhang not to finish him off.

"No mercy, uncle!" Fen Lian spoke from a distance.

Similarly, the man in Fen Lian's hands was begging her for mercy. But until this moment, Fen Lian still wanted to sport a hand to finish them off.

"Forgive me; I promise not to do this again."

"Can you hold on to your word?"

The young man nodded. "Of course I promise you both not to do this again," he said solemnly.

Zhang released his grip and let go of the young man. "Promise me that you will be kind to others in the future!"

The young man nodded.

"Just watch out if I see you like this again; I will not hesitate to break your bones on the spot!" Zhang threatened.

"I promise!" He replied solemnly.

Until a few seconds later...

"Great... Great... Really great..."

"There's a hero of the four seasons in the village!"

"Who are you?"

**

"Uncle, who was that person?"

"Uncle doesn't know; don't ask too many questions; now bring the stuff inside," Uncle Zhang ordered.

Hearing the order, Fen Lian hurried to enter the temple and brought the items she had bought with Zhang earlier. It was very quiet inside the temple, obviously because A Xui's grandfather was probably still in the backyard. Fen Lian immediately placed all the items on the cooking table; she could not cook, so she went back out to meet Uncle Zhang. Just as Fen Lian was about to go out, Uncle Zhang arrived.

"Did you put Fen Lian in the kitchen?"

Already, uncle, everything is in order. So what should I do?" He asked.

"Follow grandfather behind to help him; later, when uncle is done cooking, I will call you!" He said.

Fen Lian nodded obediently, and without waiting any longer, she left the kitchen and went out to follow her grandfather in the backyard. An old man was seen cleaning a hall that was dirty because of leaves; his body was already stooped and no longer agile, making Fen Lian feel sorry for A Xui's grandfather. She immediately stepped closer to him to help him.

"Grandfather, can Fen Lian help you?" Fen Lian asked politely.

But the grandfather refused Fen Lian's offer for the umpteenth time. "Fen Lian, just sit down; you'll get tired," he said.

"No, Grandpa, I won't get tired. Let Fen Lian help you, Grandpa."

A Xui sighed softly. The fruit does not fall far from the tree; Zhang is very stubborn, just like Fen Lian, who is also stubborn like Zhang. Inevitably, he nodded in agreement to Fen Lian's offer because, if not, it would definitely take even longer to finish.

Alright, Fen Lian, you can help grandfather by bringing the water from the artificial river here to clean this hall," he ordered.

Without answering, Fen Lian immediately picked up the container and took the water as directed by her grandfather. This made A Xui shake his head slowly, seeing Fen Lian's eagerness to help him.

"Great young man; I'm sure he will succeed!" A Xui said confidently:

The cleaning activity lasted not long; after Fen Lian came to help, all the work that A Xui did was almost completely finished. Thanks to Fen Lian's help, this training ground looked clean and was already fit for use; moreover, the temple environment was much tidier and more organized, making anyone feel comfortable staying in this temple. Not long after, Zhang came and approached A Xui who was sitting in the pavilion, while waving his hand towards his face.

"Uncle, the food is ready; do you want to eat?" He asked.

A Xui nodded. "I will eat later; invite Fen Lian to eat together; she must be starving. She worked hard this morning," said A Xui.

Hearing that, Zhang nodded. He then looked at Fen Lian, who was sitting down while staring at the artificial river that had many fish swirling in it.

"Fen Lian,"

Fen Lian immediately turned her gaze towards the source of the voice. Yes, uncle, what's wrong?" She asked.

"The food is ready; don't you want to eat now?" Asked Zhang.

But Fen Lian looked at A Xui first, and seeing A Xui nod made Fen Lian turn her gaze back to Zhang.

Later, uncle, I'm still not hungry." She said.

"Fen Lian, you need to eat a lot to regain your strength. This afternoon, your grandfather will start teaching you martial arts. Eat now!" A Xui ordered Fen Lian.

Hearing the order, Zhang got up from his seat and took Fen Lian to the temple to have breakfast. Fen Lian just did what he told her to do, even though she was actually feeling hungry herself. It was just seeing the grandfather who didn't move that made her think that it would be rude if the host didn't ask.

Arriving at the temple, Fen Lian was immediately served a variety of very tempting foods in front of her. Uncle Zhang deliberately cooked this much for them to eat until tonight, knowing that no one could cook, even though A Xui's grandfather could cook, but he couldn't bear to see his parents cooking. Moreover, today he already had to return to Jiangnan.

"Uncle, did you cook this much food?" Fen Lian asked in between picking up the rice.

Zhang frowned at the question. "You're asking? Didn't you see your uncle's meal earlier?"

Fen Lian scratched the back of her neck, which was not itchy. She actually remembered it well; she just didn't expect her uncle to cook this much food without the help of anyone else.

"I'm just surprised that Uncle can cook this much without the help of others. It really makes me very amazed at my uncle," he said.

"You doubt your uncle's ability, Fen Lian? Didn't you already know that your teacher's uncle is a great man? I can do anything; there's only one thing I can't do, which is to make you a cultivator; for some reason, it feels very difficult," Zhang said as he sat in front of Fen Lian.

Hearing that statement, Fen Lian was instantly reminded of her struggle. There was a sense of tightness that returned every time she heard the failure, but behind everything that happened was the belief that she was planting in her heart that she would succeed in becoming a cultivator.

"I'm sure I can become a cultivator, so you just need to pray for me to succeed," she pleaded.

Zhang nodded. "Sure, oh yeah, after this, uncle has to go back. You take good care of yourself; don't argue with Grandpa A Xui; don't hesitate to ask for help if you're in trouble."

"What else should I do, uncle? So that I can be on guard to stay with grandfather A Xui," he said.

Nothing, Fen; grandfather is very kind. Later, you will get a lot of knowledge from him; you just need to obey and follow what he teaches, and you must not forget to always practice independently, as your uncle has taught. Our teaching methods are the same; it's just that his way is a little harder than mine," she explained.

This made Fen Lian gulp her slave with difficulty. Uncle Zhang was famous for his harsh and rude teaching methods, which made many students feel scared. But who would have thought that there was someone even more rude and harsh in teaching, namely grandfather A Xui? It made Fen Lian feel a little nervous. Seeing Fen Lian's nervousness, Zhang immediately wrinkled his forehead.

"Are you scared, Fen?"

Fen Lian immediately shook her head. "Of course not; I don't feel scared at all. It's just that I wonder, if I make a mistake, what the punishment will be. When I was with my uncle, the punishment was horrible," she said.

"Don't make any mistakes. One more thing you have to learn to cook, because later uncle is not here, you have to cook; don't let grandfather do it."

Fen Lian nodded. Sooner or later, she would definitely learn to cook so as not to trouble grandfather A Xui here.

"Good uncle,"

"Now eat a lot to be energized. All kinds of fish are good for your growth."
