Chapter 82: Pulling Legs!

Dexter walked into the chief's office, still reeling from the events of the previous day. He had just finished giving his statement to the police concerning the accident of Thompson he witnessed, and now he needed to speak with the chief.

As he entered the office, Dexter was surprised to see a man he didn't recognize sitting behind the desk. "Excuse me, sir," Dexter said tentatively, "I'm here to see the chief of police."

The man behind the desk looked up and smiled. "That's me," he said. "I'm Chief Johnson. How can I help you?"

Dexter's confusion was evident as he tried to process the information. "Chief Johnson? I'm sorry, but I don't think I've seen you in the office before. Are you new here?"

The chief chuckled and leaned back in his chair. "No, I've been here for a few months now, I was transferred six months ago. But I understand your confusion. I've not really been in the office since my operation as I was hospitalized. And who might you be sir?”
