Chapter Eight - Assassin

"Is this some joke?" Derek asked.

"I have a sense of humor, but if this was a joke it wouldn't be funny" replied Androuet "so I ask you again, did you kill that boy?

"Of course not! I wish I could but it wasn't me!" answered Derek" all I did was punch him in the face, I used the magic Onyx gave me but it's still not that strong!

Derek looked at the back of his hands, a magic seal was tattooed on each one, this seal allowed invoking a specific spell just by pronouncing its arcane name, the {Dragon Fist} increased the strength of the punch by 5 times but would not do the damage that Androuet mentioned.

"Can you tell me exactly what happened?" asked the dean.

"I was coming to class, there was no one there as usual" explained Derek "then this idiot appeared out of nowhere already pissing him off, he looked drunk.

"Drunk? Just looked like it or really was?" asked the old man.

"I didn't pay much attention to the details, he slurred and staggered, I thought he had flipped them all" replied Derek "when he got to my patience I gave him a nice punch in the face, and he fell to the ground.

"And then?

"I left him there and came to class, after a while he showed up again wanting a fight" replied Derek "then Onyx broke up with him.

"He was very annoying, I sucked his Mana" replied the succubus "I was going to kill him, but Derek said he didn't want to have to clean up after someone so scrotum, I agreed.

"And then I dragged him outside, left him sleeping on the seats outside" said Derek "that's all I did, I didn't even hit him anymore, I mean I kicked him in the stomach...

Androuet stopped to analyze everything he saw and heard, if Derek and Onyx had killed the boy and wanted to hide it they would make up a better story, they wouldn't give a half admission of guilt or leave a corpse planted on their doorstep.

The story of the boy being drunk is what was strange, when they examined the body there was no smell of alcohol, it also does not explain how he left the dorm to go after Derek just to tease him, or that was a lie or something very crazy it happened.

"Very well, I believe you" said Androuet getting up "we're done here.

"Like this? No more questions?" Derek asked.

"That's right, either you're an excellent liar or someone set you up" he replied "in both cases continuing to interrogate you is a waste of time.

"Damn if I had known this was going to happen I would have sucked his soul out" complained Onyx crossly.

"Before I go I want to ask a personal question" said Androuet at the door "does this boy's death bother you?

"Not really, if I wasn't suspicious I'd be laughing right now" replied Derek sincerely "and if that guy threatened me again I'd kill him myself.

"Okay, I myself have a list of people I wouldn't miss" said Androuet "tomorrow is the day off, let's investigate this murder while the students are out.

Androuet apologized and left, when he was gone Derek fell sitting on the sofa, he had the look of someone who was frying his brains thinking, Napilla left for the corridors to see the situation outside.

"Now they won't let go of my foot" he would say rubbing his eyes.

"But isn't that great? One of those who bothered you just died a pretty tragic death," Onyx said.

"That part is great, but being accused of that sucks" he replied "it's going to suck from here on out."

"Then how about we kill the others? You bring them to me and I'll do the job" suggested Onyx excitedly "we can use this murderer as an excuse, get everyone confused!"

"You suck you know?" said Derek laughing "I'll think about it.

Outside the dungeons the investigation continued, after returning Androuet told the others what he heard from Onyx and Derek, everyone clearly doubted the story.

"And you believed that?" asked one of them.

"Common sense says that they're both guilty, so I prefer to think outside of common sense" he replied "I'll treat them as innocent until there's some evidence to the contrary.

"Let's bring Tafai's roommate and ask him some questions" one of the teachers was saying "let's investigate their room too."

"Let's keep the other students from knowing about this" asked Androuet "with or without clues we'll inform only those who are interested in the right way.

At that moment the teacher Izora arrived, when she saw the body she showed amazement and sadness, even if there were deaths during some tests that was too brutal, Androuet went to her and put his hands on her shoulder.

"Sorry to get you out of bed to see this" he said "can you use the {tell light}?

"Of course my lord, right now" she replied wiping her tears.

Izora raised her ivory staff, casting the magic she created a sphere of light that rose almost to the ceiling, the sphere released all its brightness illuminating the place as if it were day, this magic would reveal any other hidden magic, traces of Mana and presence of other beings.

When the magic completed its purpose, the information became visible, the dead boy's body emanated a small black aura, but that was expected when they learned that Derek attacked him and Onyx sucked him in, there was also a black mist almost in the center of the hall, such a fog indicated that a dark magic was used there.

"I can't say what kind of magic this is" said Izora analyzing the mist "but whoever used it was strong, these stains on the floor indicate that what was here went to where the body is.

Androuet put his hand where the mist was, being a master of dimensional magic he could tell if something entered or left through there, but no sign of a portal was found.

"Maybe it's a concealment spell, whoever did it could be watching from here" suggested Izora "but I can think of several possibilities, including one where Onyx and Derek are to blame.

"Do you believe they are guilty?" asked Androuet.

"I would like to believe the boy, but Onyx may have charmed him like so many others" she said sadly "I was once weak before her myself.

"You wanted to purge her from the academy, of course she would react" replied Androuet "but I'm sorry that happened.

He was referring to the day that Onyx's last student graduated, when Izora found out that he became a murderer, he went to take satisfaction with Onyx, in a discussion Izora tried to destroy the succubus, after failing she was tortured and abused, she almost gave up on continuing in the academy , but Androuet helped her get over it.

"Let's leave the past where it belongs and focus on the present" said Androuet "so that we don't have an even worse future.

"Do you believe this will happen again?" asked Izora.

"I'm sure it will, whoever did it must have liked or hated the result" he said "so he'll do it again, until he gets what he really wants.

*******************************************

A new day arrived, the news of the death was hushed up until some answer was found, but so far nothing helped in the case.

With the arrival of the last day of the month, students and staff were given time off, everyone who was not indispensable was released to enjoy the rest, students in particular were dying to release stress after the previous test.

"What the hell were you doing!?" Queen complained.

"I'm sorry, I messed up a little" said Isott who came running "I was picking out some pretty panties.

"Huh? Where do you think we're going!?" complained Aella furiously" you don't need special panties to go shopping!

"But it's always good to be prepared, maybe during the walk we'll meet handsome guys, we can arrange to go out together" she fantasized "and then during the night... we can have an overwhelming romance, an adventure of a single night.

"It WILL NOT happen! And if it did, I wouldn't waste time getting prettified for strangers!" Queen replied.

"her... don't you have any pretty pieces?" teased Isott" so it would be a good idea to buy some today, we might get lucky today, especially you.

The other duo saw Aella growling at Isott and laughed, Merilda and Ashera were out shopping, Aella was obviously going to accompany her cousin to protect her, and Isott invited herself along for the ride, so they decided to do everything together today.

"Hey Ash, how old are you?" asked Isott" you're a half-elf aren't you? So you must be older than us.

"I am 30 years old, but in the time of my people I would be like you," she replied.

"Wow! So even when you're 60 you'll still have a nice body" said the other surprise.

"Actually when I reach 40 years old I will stop aging" she explained "I will only die of old age at 200 years old.

Ashera felt an aura of envy around her, all three were thinking about how good it was to be a half-elf, to remain beautiful and healthy for over a century, Aella muttered how unfair this was.

"It's not as good as it looks, I don't think I'll grow any bigger than this...

She talked about her height and appearance, besides that she touched her breasts and looked to the side, Aella and Isott were well endowed, even Merilda had more than her, if she was in uniform to stay like that for almost two centuries it was shameful, Isott said that Big boobs were irrelevant.

"You're the one who's amazing, I thought you were the intellectual type, but you're pretty naughty" Aella complained "you talk about these things more than boys do."

"Just because I wear glasses and study all day? I actually want to be normal like all the girls" she justified.

““I want to be normal”? Don't you think you're normal?” asked Merilda" to me you are pretty normal.

"I'm what you would call a broken person" she replied "but don't mind that, I'm just weird.

"So let's leave boring subjects aside, whenever you want to talk feel free" said Merilda "today we're going to have fun.

The 4 went to the biggest market in the city, a place comparable to a mall, the first thing they did was go to a magic instrument store, Ashera bought herbs, seeds and other materials to make potions, Isott bought books and Aella bought a sword good quality short.

"It is forbidden to enter the academy armed" warned Merilda.

"Tell that to that truculent professor" she said examining the edge of the sword "I'm only going to use it in class, I want to at least cut that guy.

Merilda laughed at that and went on to do her shopping, she bought small crystals of various types, especially white and pearly crystals, they were catalysts for light magic, in the end she went to the counter with a bag full of stones of various types.

"I believe the total amount is 58 thousand Eris" the girl did not believe that she had that much.

"Oh yeah, here it is," Merilda said, opening her purse.

She placed a golden rectangular metal plate (the size of a credit card) on the counter, on the plate there was the symbol of the reign and a small red gem in the center, the gold piece had a value of 100 thousand Eris, which left the slack-jawed saleswoman.

"I... I'm sorry, but we don't have change in bills at the moment" she said embarrassed.

"Okay, if it's possible I want to leave the rest as credit, for future purchases" Merilda suggested "Your crystals are pure, so I want to come back here when I need more.

The girl bowed gratefully and ran towards the direction to get the papers, she would make the credit line for her new client, while she prepared the paperwork Merilda looked at the store, and her friends looked at her in amazement.

"Someone is going to earn a nice commission this month" said Isott with a laugh.

"You know, most people don't get that much money together in a year of work," commented Ashera, "but you spend it smiling like you're spending change.

"Is it that weird?" asked Merilda worriedly.

"Not if you're a millionaire, but millionaire people don't go to the gym" she said "just hire a teacher to teach you at home.

"I want more than just the magical knowledge, I want the experience" she replied "I don't want to be like the other nobles who don't really know anything.

The lady came back with the paperwork, it took Merilda half an hour to fill it all out, but now she could use the rest of the money to buy whenever she wanted, she also designated her cousin present to have credit in case she needed anything, since the paperwork it was complete they left the shop admiring the magic stones.

"These are for you" said Merilda picking up some stones in the bag "should help you channel mana for your spells.

"But no need, I mean, you spent your money and...." Ashera was completely at a loss.

"When a friend offers you a gift you politely accept it" said Isott" and promise to return the kindness some day, if the friendship is true you don't need to be embarrassed to accept it.

Ashera accepted the green gem and bowed in respect, Merilda said she didn't need gratitude, as the two were already friends and shared the same room, Aella took the red gem that was linked to strength and fire, while Isott won a gem transparent, which represented the mind.

After that they went out looking at all the stores, each one bought a new outfit for themselves, when trying on they helped each other, Ashera tried to tie her hair but ended up hooking it, Aella then went to help her do her hair.

"Thank you..." thanked Ashera.

"This one won't look good, it's better to get a rope type one" suggested Aella taking the hair clip "that way the strands don't get stuck and it's not uncomfortable.

"I also have something for you" said Isott holding up a skirt.

"No way am I going to wear this" she said "it's shorter than our uniform!

Aella was adamant about wearing it, but her cousin begged to see her wearing the new outfit, her eyes twinkling. fitting room.

"h-h-how am I?" she asked leaving all red with embarrassment.

The skirt only reached mid-thigh, with her strong legs she felt naked, the blouse also had no sleeves and had a generous neckline, her breasts weren't exactly big, but in that outfit they were voluminous.

"You're beautiful, if I were a man I'd grab you now" joked Isott "although I don't need to change gender for that...

"You depraved pervert!" complained Aella" that's enough! I don't use it anymore!

"Oh yes you will!" ordered your cousin" today you are free of uniforms!

"If you like, you can wear these tights," suggested Ashera, picking up the matching piece, "so you feel a little more dressed up."

"The goal was to show her skin, but since that will help with the adaptation then that's fine" said Isott.

After everyone tried on their new clothes, they went to the food court, looked for a vacant table and sat down, then the boy came to take the orders, it was decided that they would all eat fish and a pie for dessert, while waiting for lunch they talked about her magic courses, Isott explained that last month she learned to do personality analysis, and that she could tell someone's identity by their characteristics.

"This is fascinating, can you show us how it works?" Merilda asked.

"Well, starting with your cousin, I see that she is the warrior type and independent, as she seems to want to protect you she considers herself your guardian" explained Isott "her discipline and rigidity indicate that she is the daughter of a military man, and that is trained since she was a child by him, I bet she wants to follow the same career as her father, or become a real guardian.

"You really know how to read people" said Aella after sighing.

"And as for Merilda, everything indicates that she was born with a golden cradle, never had problems and always got what she wanted, but since she doesn't say which family she belongs to, she considers her title a burden" analyzed Isott "but has a strange sense of justice, a belief that you can change people, stands up to defend the weak and fight against injustices, it means that you grew up with extremely high moral standards.

"So far you've got it right," Merilda said, worried about that deduction.

"But you're not just any noblewoman, you seem to have a great ambition, not necessarily a bad one" she continued "the only nobles who are interested in these things are those who have the power to change the country, so I guess you're the heiress of one of the 8 royal houses.

The 8 royal houses are the most powerful families in the kingdom, the whole country was divided into 9 regions, 8 of them were ruled by kings, and the capital by the emperor, the leaders of these families made up the royal council deciding everything in the kingdom, and only one of his heirs could marry the emperor's son or daughter.

Merilda and Aella looked at each other, Isott came one step closer to the truth, probably not even she would have imagined that the imperial princess would be out of the capital, on the one hand that was good, because if not even she guessed it, probably no one would guess.

"Heir to a royal family?" asked Ashera scared "I never imagined that...

"Please Ashera, I don't want to know my title while I'm here" asked Merilda "so I would appreciate it if we continued as we were.

"Yes, I'll try" she replied a little nervously "when I get used to the idea of course.

Merilda looked at the girls around her, there were few people she could call friends, and even though she felt alone, Merilda wondered how Derek felt being so lonely.

"Well what a surprise" said Aella "I didn't expect to see you here.

Merilda looked back and saw Derek and Urick, the two nodded discreetly and walked over, when asked what he was doing Derek rolled his eyes and Urick chuckled.

"I came to buy some things, and I forced this guy to come along" replied Urick "in exchange I was going to buy him a new outfit.

"He compels me to help and he compels me to accept a reward," said Derek with a sigh.

"The last one I gave you you threw away, because of that incident" Urick said "so we need to renew your wardrobe.

"Join us" asked Merilda "there's room for you, we can talk a little.

"That's right! There's a lot I want to ask you," said Isott.

"Oh no, but thanks for the invite" thanked Derek "I intended to come back soon and go to the library.

"Then keep this, I bought it with you in mind" Merilda said getting up "she might be able to help you out a bit."

She handed the black gem the size of a quail egg, Derek held the jewel imagining how much it cost, he thought about accepting it, but he would not be worthy of such a gift, so he returned it to her.

"I can't accept that, but I appreciate it anyway" he said leaving "feel free to keep them Urick, I can take things to the bedroom.

"Ah well, after going to great lengths to get you out of the academy, there would be no point in letting you go back alone," he replied.

The two said goodbye to them and left, Merilda sat back down with a sad face, the others wanted to say something but couldn't think of a way to comfort her, except Isott.

"There's no need to be sad, that refusal was out of shame" she said "he didn't want to bond with you, so he decided to push you away.

"How could you know that?" Merilda asked.

"His look indicated sadness for something, and he refused without changing his voice" she explained "so he did it without anger, if there was no anger the only reason to refuse a gift is shame.

"He wanted to avoid problems for you, that's why he avoids contact" said Aella "he at least has consideration for others, I respect that.

But Merilda didn't like that, getting away from others was the same as running away, and she didn't like cowards, if there was a problem out of reach everyone should come together to solve it.

"He who lives in darkness will always be alone" said Ashera "my mother told me so.

**************************************

"Your head feels like it's about to explode" Izora would say "what are you thinking about?

"Since yesterday we don't have a single clue of the murderer" he replied stirring his cup of tea "I don't like that, I don't like someone doing whatever they want in my gym.

"Even now you can't think of a suspect?" she asked.

"Everything points to Derek and Onyx, only that's ridiculous" he replied "if it had been them then they would be challenging us making it look like they did it."

"So you believe they were set up? Maybe it wasn't Onyx using the Derek?" she asked" no man can resist her, and she always liked to defy us.

"That was too blunt, not her style" replied Androuet sipping her tea "Onyx likes to poison, corrupt slowly and watch the chaos she causes, whoever did this seemed to want the Derek to take the blame at once.

They remembered the conversation they had with the other boy, Tafai's roommate said that his friend didn't have enemies, and that the only one who could want to harm him was Derek, but Androuet didn't swallow that easily, if that group was teamed up to hit a person could very well do worse.

"Tomorrow classes return, and we will have to report the boy's death" he said leaning back in his armchair "I can already see the confusion that will be...

"Mr. Androuet, it seems we have a problem" said his secretary with her fingers on her forehead "something happened at the main gate.

"I'll go there, come with me please Izora" he asked getting up.

Androuet opened a portal and both he and Izora passed, with two simple steps they left the dean's office and appeared at the entrance of the academy, there they saw a crowd of students hunting one, more specifically Derek who was fleeing desperately not to be lynched, quickly Izora acted and created a glowing wall between him and the angry crowd.

"What's going on here my boy!?" asked Androuet nervously.

"It wasn't my fault! I swear it wasn't my fault!" said Derek falling panting at his feet "he's the one who came at me!!

The people behind the barrier were screaming madly, calling Derek a murderer and a monster, Izora used a magic that allowed her to see through everyone, and was startled by what she saw, there was a body lying at the entrance of the academy, with a short sword piercing your chest.

"It's not possible, did you do that?" she asked.

"But what's going on here anyway!?" shouted Androuet angrily.

The crowd of students wanted to cross the barrier, at that moment several spears of light fell from the sky, pushing people away from the barrier, with a shout of order from the dean, the people fell silent.

"I was going back with Urick, then Cristian appeared out of nowhere" explained Derek still panting "he started accusing me of killing Tafai, said he was going to make me pay for it, and then he drew a sword!

What came after according to Derek was a fight, Cristian tried to stab him and the two fought, at one point there was a fight over possession of the short sword, and when Derek realized the blade had already crossed the chest of the other, there was no time not even to ask for help, and it was at that moment that the curious people saw the body.

"Now you got my boy, Izora please take care of this angry mob" said Androuet touching Derek's shoulder "I'm going to get you out of here and listen to this story better.

With his magic Androuet teleported him and Derek to his office, Izora stayed behind trying to contain the crowd, already in his office the boy fell straight into the chair in front of the dean's table, Derek trembled as he saw his hands dirty with blood.

"Two deaths in less than a day, and one witnessed by dozens of students" said Androuet "things are not looking good for you at all.

Derek was already seeing his future, guilt or not he couldn't attend classes anymore, in fact the way people were furious he couldn't even appear in public.

Half an hour later the crowd was dispersed, Urick was taken to the dean and told the same story as Derek, a master teacher in mental magic was called and examined the memories of the two, he also confirmed the story, since the student's corpse was taken to be examined.

*********************************

"Derek won't come today, we are still solving yesterday's problem" explained the professor "in the break the dean will make a statement on the subject, and will explain what happened two days ago as well.

"Two days ago? What happened?" Merilda asked.

"Cristian's roommate was found dead at night" replied the girl sitting next to him "that's why Cristian went after Derek, and now he ended up dead too.

"Looks like our dark wizard won't even wait to graduate" mocked another girl "he wants to show he's really evil!

Merilda squeezed the pencil so hard that it broke, she couldn't believe that Derek was involved in deaths, but she was also disappointed with the situation, the morning class proceeded in a hard way for everyone, and when it was time for the break no one went to the cafeteria, everyone went to the courtyard to hear the dean's statement.

"I thank everyone who gave up their meal to listen to me" he said trying to maintain his own humor "first I will talk about the incident two days ago, the death of student Tafai.

He explained in detail what happened to Tafai, including the fact that he entered the forbidden area and the Derek hit him, he explained how the body was found and the conclusion of all the experts, he emphasized the fact that despite the situation there was no evidence against Derek.

"And in yesterday's case, both the testimonies and the evidence confirm Derek's story" said the dean "Cristian attacked Derek with intent to kill, and he defended himself, death was an unfortunate accident resulting from that.

The gathered students began to argue among themselves, the murmurs and complaints filled the entire courtyard, Androuet tapped his staff on the ground and a small wave of vibration made everyone silent.

"Sooner or later everything will be cleared up, and the guilty will be punished" said Androuet "until then I don't want vigilantes in my academy, anyone who attacks Derek will receive immediate expulsion!

Nobody said anything, but the collective hatred was palpable, some considered leaving the academy to do justice, others hoped that someone would have the courage to do that, the dean went on to explain that in both cases Derek was not to blame, and that the two dead students acted recklessly and selfishly.

The dean dismissed the students, grudgingly everyone left for lunch, afternoon classes were canceled and students were to return to their dorms as soon as night fell.

"Are we just going to leave it at that? Will that bastard Derek get away with it?" asked Ashiok" if I had known this was going to happen I would have finished him off that day.

"There is a big difference between beating someone up or killing them, if we had done that there would have been an investigation" argued one of them "if the city authorities asked the academy to help they could expel us.

Ashiok hit a wall nonconformist, when they came together to beat Derek they wanted the boy to finally give up and leave, but he not only stayed in the academy but even got more daring, and now two of his friends died.

"If the dean doesn't want to expel him then let's get him expelled" said Ashiok "and you're going to help us Geva.

"What? No way" she replied "those two went to mess with Derek and ended up dead, I'm not going to be next.

"Don't worry, I have a plan" said Ashiok "you won't get hurt and we'll catch the bastard in the act.

He explained his plan to his companions, and with everything decided they just needed to put it into practice, Ashiok was pretty sure this time he would prove to everyone what kind of person Derek really was.

**************************************

(a week later)

"Cast two spells at the same time? Is that even possible?" asked Derek in surprise.

"It's possible, as long as you've mastered both spells perfectly" Hugo explained "you should cast the two spells with this symbol interconnecting the two and forming this pattern.

Hugo got up from his chair and started drawing the arcane letters in the air, forming a circular pattern he finished writing the first spell's conjuration sentence, with a different symbol in the middle he kept writing until he drew a complete ring in the air, after When this happened, his body was enveloped by the protective aura and the cloak of shadows.

"You are very good! How can you say you are a mediocre wizard?" Derek asked.

"I used two low level spells, a high level mage can do that with the intermediate ones" he explained "I also took a long time to cast them, a high level mage would do it in a very short time.

"I think your problem is that you've given up on evolving, you've resigned yourself to remaining as you were" said Derek "I'm sure that if you try, you'll level up.

"Only if I try to master dark magic, but I can't study with Onyx" he replied "I could look for a clandestine school or a legitimate black magician, but that means becoming a criminal.

"Well, most people settle for simply living, and there's nothing wrong with that" said Derek "I just think it's wrong not to ambition more when it's possible.

Derek went back to his studies, during that week he had classes with the only person who didn't bother teaching him, during the morning and afternoon he had basic classes with Hugo, and at night he went to Onyx's class, he arrived to mention his name to the succubus, but she really didn't even remember he existed.

"Typical of her, if it's not in her interest, it's nonexistent for her" he complained "I'm glad I never lowered myself in looking for her in those years.

"It seems that the only student she remembers is the one who came before me" commented Derek still studying.

"Ah yes Richard, that guy is unforgettable" said Hugo "he came from a little known noble family, he had plenty of talent and an affinity for darkness.

"I've heard stories about him, how he seemed like a good person until he graduated," said Derek.

"Before he graduated he had already done his thing, he managed to cause chaos here without anyone noticing, he was a master at making people unhappy even though he looked like a saint" explained Hugo "he even caused the deaths of some students, and drove one or the other to suicide, all without getting their hands dirty.

Derek started to think about it, with all the chaos of the last few days he had forgotten that Tafai's death was very strange, besides that Androuet spoke of dark magic trailing close to him, that was why Androuet never considered another person from the academy as a suspect.

"Hey Hugo, can a person learn dark magic without being a dark magician?" he asked.

"As far as I know it's impossible, light and dark magic are selfish" he explained "if they aren't your primary magic they don't appear as secondary, and any student who enters the academy takes that test.

The test he was referring to was the crystal ball test, the test was able to say exactly what the person's primary magic was, as far as it is known it cannot be cheated, maybe a very high level mage could do it, but no mage of such a level would try to enter the academy as a student.

"When Tafai died a dark magic was used to camouflage something nearby" said Derek "in this academy only you and I use dark magic, apart from Onyx.

"You're not thinking it was me, are you?" Hugo asked, arching an eyebrow.

"To tell you the truth I thought about it for a while, but I've kind of discarded the idea" replied Derek "if you wanted to get revenge on Onyx you would put the blame on her, and if you wanted to get revenge on the academy the deaths would be random.

"And why do you think I wouldn't blame it on you?" Hugo asked.

"Because we would return to this situation, the dean knows it's not me, so he's looking for the real culprit" explained Derek "he also suspected you, but he thinks your level is not good enough for all this.

"It's good for me that I'm incompetent," said Hugo, laughing.

"Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on you" replied Derek laughing too "now it's time for class with Onyx.

"Blow that bitch a kiss for me," said Hugo.

"If it starts with a kiss, it's gone, it won't stop" he replied "but I say you miss you.

Derek said goodbye and went to the dungeons, he was still thinking about what he heard and all the possibilities, definitely someone was setting him up, but how to prove it? How to make the culprit show himself?

"First I need to find out how to use dark magic without being a dark magician" he said as he walked "maybe through magic items or scrolls...

While walking and thinking he saw something that caused a dejavu in his head, he saw Geva sitting near the dungeons waiting for him, when she saw him she waved shyly, Derek blinked his eyes as if he was seeing a hallucination, after confirming that she it was real he sighed.

"Really? You here?" he asked as he approached.

"Hi..." she said totally awkwardly "I wanted to talk to you."

"We've been through this before so it sure isn't" he said walking past her "good luck getting back to the dorm.

She grabbed his arm, Derek immediately looked at her with a furious look, Geva felt that he could kill her at any moment, but she swallowed hard and decided to move on.

"I know I'm the last person in the world who could ask this, but please listen to me" she said "this time I'm here to help you.

"Really? And what would that be like exactly?" he asked in a very sarcastic tone.

"Ashiok is setting you up, he has a plan to get you kicked out of the academy" she said "and he wanted me to help him."

"Very well, you have my attention," said Derek getting serious.
