The steps approached the table, slowly but progressively. In a matter of time, the table rug would be shifted and Lin would soon find her at her hiding place.

Diana could hear her heart screaming hard beneath her chest.

"I told you!" It probably was saying in despair but she could not pay attention to its grievances. It didn't matter how much they both regretted, nothing could be done in repentance to save them the punishment of their sins.

Of all the people who had ever worked and who still worked for her family, Lin was the most loyal to her father. If she found her trying to leave the house in the middle of the night, then she could be certain that her father would know about it by the time morning came.

Ms Lin was now at her closest to the dining table and Diana could see her legs bend into a squat. Her hands were probably already on their way to push aside the fabric that covered every edge of the table.

Diana closed her eyes and counted the seconds. Nothing could stop the futur

Diana found her way lightly through the night. The streets of Twillightoria were not exactly safe at times as dark as this, but she was determined to make it to her destination. She had never had the privilege of these outings even when she was a curious teenager in high school. Her parents always kept her indoors while her mates partied and clubbed for the most part of the nights.Even if she ever attended a few parties, it would be those ones without the luxury of alcohol and with most of their participants mostly made up of adults and married people. That was the sort of life she lived, the sort of live she grew up with. But even as unfamiliar as she was with the dark streets, using the map on her phone, she could tell she was heading in the right direction. Finally, the little restaurant was within the view of her eyes as she came out into the edge of a new street. She proceeded slowly from there, taking her steps one after the other. By the time she was close enough, she could re

"Who did she kill?" Rachel sent her hands over the table and grabbed Diana by his wrist. "An old man. Hermes only called him Bell." Diana tried to reply, struggling to endure the pain inflicted by Rachel's tight grasp.Judging from Rachel's expression, Diana deducted that the name Bell was not strange to her. And it looked like she was trying to remember something. And later she whispered something. "Mrs Henshaw once said she would call Bell during the acquisition. It has to be the same person.""Mrs Henshaw? Who is that?" Diana put in a question."She is Hermes's mom", the reply came but rather in an unconscious manner. And Diana found it astounding."His mom? You know his mom? Then why do you ever need me?""Because I thought you were another skillful agent just like Mrs Henshaw herself. How am I supposed to know that you would be this useless?" The reply was cold and brutal, piercing into Diana's heart like the sharp edge of an ice blade."I am not useless", she said, but unable

  • Herald of Vengeance   Men In The Shadows

Diana gulped a mouthful of her own spit. She did not imagine ever having to race aimlessly around the middle of nowhere at night. Or having her tail in between her legs in fear of death in the coldness of the night like this, and neither did she imagine a brutal fate in the hands of some unknown strangers. All that was about to happen now."Are you ready?" She heard Rachel's voice say to her. But she could barely reply before she felt the cold grasp of her companion on her soft wrist."Let us go, now." Rachel said. "The longer we stay, the graver the danger".With cold stiff feet, she rose from her position and slowly followed Rachel closely. As they took their careful steps, she could see the side glances on the faces of those men. Each of the men took a sudden interest in their little walk down the aisle of dangers, and stole a glance at them every single now and then."One... two... three..."She counted in her heart, or rather her heart counted for her. Soon she lost count, and

The house was not the smallest of homes neither was it too big to be ransacked and searched thoroughly in their race against time. Swiss and his men would soon get to their location, Hermes knew this very well. But he also kmew that there was some big information hiding within the walls of that house. Thus he split them up into two teams. He and Dengerberd would search the house for anything important while Molina would stay with Jack and stand guard over Tracie. A task in which Molina took great delight.Hermes knew he could not fully trust Dengerberd, so he only entrusted him with the search of the unimportant rooms while Hermes took over with the bedrooms. There were three bedrooms in that house. Two stood side to side with one another while the last one remained at the rearest part of the house. Even though the first two rooms were left open and wide, Hermes could see easily from the way everything looked that no one had stepped into those rooms in years. The beds looked rough an

Right back in the living room, Tracie had been tied at her hands which were now folded behind her as she sat up below one of the sofas in the living room.Molina strode back and forth before her, moving with the pride of a cat and shaking her heavy features in a bid to tease her captive."You are enjoying this now, pray I never get out of these ropes, bitch". Tracie spat in the face of her pride, but it did little to hurt Molina. Rather, she felt the urge to do more."Ohh! Are you pained, Miss Tracie? You can no longer order me around? How about you command me to release you from those ropes? Opps, I forgot. That charm no longer works!"Molina let out another good laugh, and Tracie could feel her blood boiling. She could not wait to get her hands free again so she could deliver some serious blows on the lady before her."You know, I never was one of your girl slaves", Molina continued, taking her seat on one of the opposite chairs to Tracie and crossing her legs. Meanwhile, several minutes before all of these things would happen outside, Hermes and Mark Dengerberd were still at the doorstep of the broken room, at loggerheads with each other."I think it is high time you let me know who exactly you are and what you want!" Hermes had said a few minutes earlier, ready to know the total truth about Dengerberd."What? At this time? This is surely not the time for all this! They will soon be onto us" Mark tried to be evasive about it.Hermes knew that Mark had a point and the truth in his words was not deniable, but the lies in them was what he was trying to look out for. He had come too easy to his aid, taking the risk of losing his head right within Swiss's own territory, and all that for what? So he could compensate Hermes for helping him to win some money? It did not sound logical. There was only one explanation - Dengerberd hoped to gain something more from all these.Could it be the location of the hidden golds? Hermes wondered. Or it would b

Hermes swiped open the document. It was boldly written in the first page. "The Ones Who Destroyed Caveliona""What is this one?" Dengerberd stuttered and Hermes ignored.Below the heading was another writing, saying. "I write their names out today, so my secret does not die with me. These are the evil people that brought destruction and death to hundreds of thousands of lives all because of riches and gold"."Gold..." Hermes repeated within himself, stunned by the writing before him."The truth behind the bombings, the killings and the destruction of several lives in the old city of Caveliona. Be prepared to know, be prepared to die"."There is no time to read all this, remember we gotta get out of here?" Dengerberd whispered into his ears, sneaking up beside him. That did not stop Hermes from opening the document one page further. There on the new page, at the top part of the long paper was a long list of names. The first name was Andre with no last name, boldly written above all of

"Dengerberd is the mole just like you suspected." Dan broke the news to Swiss who was still in the car and recieving the feedback, the king of the street gritted his teeth in anger."Traitor..." He growled lowly. "What is the situation in there?" Swiss asked into the earphone."They are still here", Dan replied, pushing Molina to her knees in front of him. "Though I can't see Hermes or Dengerberd yet. It seems they are still inside the room, I could say they fell for the trap.""Sure they would. Not so smart to realize that it was too easy to infiltrate my most treasured personal store of goods." Swiss said. "But sir, is this worth it? Now, he will find whatever it is you didn't want him to"."Let him find whatever he can find. It is high time he knew all those, he is not walking out of here alive anyway." Lyanna was lying on her bed, slowly recovering from the old wounds."The doctor says you will be free to go in a few days."Beside her bed was Andrew Henshaw, comforting her to a good discharge. He had always been there for her in the absence of her father, more than her brother could ever even if he tried.Lyanna smiled back at him. He was such an angel, she thought."Andrew..." She muttered, craving his attention. "What is it..." He responded as soon as he lifted his head, seeing the look of displease spread across the lines of her face."I am sorry for what happened to your father..." She had always wanted to say that since the moment she discovered that her father and his friend were really the ones who had taken Henshaw's life back then. "I am sorry for everything my father did to your family..."He put a finger on her lips. "That is gone now. We are now here together. Friends. Together. Forever."His smile was enough to convince her to be happy. He was the best thing she had k

We will find him, and we will recover your money." Diego assured, still trying to calm down the anger of Bradbury.Adam Bradbury sat at a far corner of the living room. He was still in shock and horror over what happened the night before. The knife placed on his throat, threatening to slash through. He could feel the red sores which developed along the lines of his neck. Also in shock was Adam's mother, Stella Bradbury. Across the Sea, Behind the Cells

"Where are you Andre, we are about to move". Guerrero said through the phone.Andre was just a few minutes left to the spot where they had agreed to meet. It was a seaside location, where illegal boats would usually set sail. Then the boat would travel a far distance up to the middle of the sea where a bigger ship would be waiting.Along with the passengers of the other smaller boats which had come from different part of the cities just for the same purpose of transmitting people in secret, the people in the boat would be drafted into the bigger ship and the boats would return to the seaside. This was also done at other parts of the world, in other countries. Each boat would know the right time to leave the seaside in order to meet the ship at the predetermined location, and Guerrero did not want to miss that time.Andre and his daughter were not the only person who were trying to leave Twillightoria. There were other people too, and unlike Andre who simply just asked for a favour, th

"Welcome, my friend! It is really pleasure to see your old face once more. Is this your beautiful daughter? May I say she looks just like her mother? Too much, I tell you. Too much."Guerrero welcomed Andre with smiles and hugs. He seemed really glad to have the honour of saving Andre and helping him out of the country."Everything is set, my friend. The boat is ready, the sailors are waiting. All that remains is for you to step into the boat and set sail to freedom."Andre understood his words well, but he was no longer anxious to leave at this point."Diego and my son are still behind. We need to rescue them first, only then can I go anywhere."Guerrero frowned. "That does not make any sense, Andre. Diego knew what he was walking into when he decided to help you in your foolish mission. I am sure he wants you to leave now that you can, you do not want to get caught too. Now that would be too much a loss for anyone of us to bear. And your son? I heard news about your son. He seems to

Richard Dengerberd said, holding a recording device up to his face, displaying it before Andre and kids present.Richard Dengerbard had been in there all along, waiting fkr Andre to come for his daughter. Andre thought he had died the other day with Minister Henshaw, but apparently he survived. He must have gotten to know of Andre's connection with the other day when Andre first visited the hospital. Then he was surely the one behind the police arrival. He was the one who informed the world of his existence and ruled out Scorpio's name as the one behind Henshaw's death. He had intentionally moved unconscious Lyanna into this VVIP room to serve as a bait for Andre. He had intentionally made himself her roommate, and he had recorded all the conversation between Andre, Howard and Andrew Henshaw."You must have thought that you escaped the law when you killed

"I will go in myself and get her out." Andre proclaimed. "What?" That did not make sense and Diego could not allow it. "You cannot do that.""We don't have any other option.""Yes we do. I can get some of our men to do this.""No..." Andre refuted. "I don't want a collision with the security agency. The best way to do this is by a using one man to take out the children quietly.""They are trapped in that hospital because someone knows about us. Someone knows about you. Whoever it is, they are surely waiting for you to come. Even if we must do this, it does not have to be you." Diego expressed his concern fully. On normal days, Diego was not the kind of person who spoke with full words or who cared about other people's safety apart from his own true family. But his relationship with Andre was growing past the borders of partnership and once again looking like brothers, just like they were when they were younger. And just like their daughters were now."I will go." Diego volunteered,
