Mary Ellen leaned in to hear Mark's Great Secret about how he managed to rise from janitor to management.

But Mark only whispered, "None of your business!"

Mary Ellen straightened up with eyes blazing with hatred. "MARK FERRO! You half-wit!"

Gene turned the corner and found the scene, deciding to intervene immediately, "Enough, Mary Ellen! Are you tired of working in the company? I haven't gone a week without firing someone who messes with Mark! What an unreasonable hatred is this, folks?"

Mary Ellen turned to Gene, "HR Manager, we need an explanation for why Celia was punished! She was unjustly demoted back to her former position, and—"

"SHUT UP!" Gene ordered imperiously. "I see Celia didn't tell the whole story. But if you're so supportive of her, how about both of you take the same position?"

Mary Ellen felt her eyes popping out of their sockets.
