Briana reacted with disgust to Nadir's shout. "MOM! Where are your manners? This house belongs to my husband, and he can host whoever he wants!"

Inside the Vasconcelos mansion, Nadir was fuming, her face flushed with rage. "What do you mean, 'whoever he wants'? Daughter, we are your parents; we deserve more consideration!"

"I know, Mom," Briana replied, trying to remain calm. "But you need to understand that we started this relationship on the wrong foot."

"That's why we need to clear up any misunderstandings! How are we going to have peace in the family if you never want to give in?" Nadir insisted.
