Briana was working hard in her office, typing on her computer and finalizing a collaboration proposal for the LCN Group.

Gene opened her office door and informed her, "Miss Vasconcelos, we have good news! It seems like we have more time for you to present the project!"

"What do you mean?" Briana raised her eyes from the monitor and looked at Gene, very surprised.

"There was a setback with the project manager. It seems like the group president is cleaning the house, getting rid of the rotten apples," Gene commented.

Gene knew this because Mark had informed him beforehand.

With the sudden dismissal of Frank Ross, Mark didn't want his wife to stress about finishing the project, so he arranged for her to be informed.

Briana allowed herself to relax and roll her tense shoulders, "Phew! Thank goodness. I can finish this more calmly and go by there tomorrow."

"It seems like luck is on our side!" Gene winked and then left.

Briana decided to pick up her phone and check the messages left by her

“You’re welcome... I know you from the papers. Mark Ferro, husband of Briana Vasconcelos. Word is you just had a baby. Congratulations.”“Yes, but don’t worry. I doubled the security,” Mark replied mysteriously. “Am I speaking to Jean D’Arveil?”“The one and only.” Jean wanted to ask about the security at the hospital, but Mark’s question caught him off guard.Mark gave a very faint smile. Perfect, he’d managed to throw the clever bastard off balance.“I believe I owe you thanks for what’s happening,” Jean said, standing up and extending his RIGHT hand. “Thanks to you, my niece is in a beautiful relationship with Christopher Vasconcelos, your wife’s cousin.”Mark shook Jean’s hand, but his eyes were fixed on the LEFT hand.It was clearly a prosthesis! He kept the faint smile. Had Elara not explained to her uncle what this “beautiful” relationship really entailed?“Well, since my dear wife and I are organizing a little engagement party at my house, I thought it best to meet the fiancée

“ARE YOU INSANE?!” Susana screamed in desperation, utterly shocked. Then she clapped both hands over her mouth, horrified at her own outburst. If they were still in the military, Susana would have faced a court-martial for calling Commander Ferro “insane”!Mark, however, understood that Susana had panicked when he said he was going to talk to Jean D’Arveil.Susana cleared her throat and couldn’t meet Mark’s eyes. “Uh... Ahem... Lord Ferro, after everything we’ve discussed, wouldn’t it be too risky to meet with Mr. D’Arveil?”“Not exactly. I have my own theory,” Mark replied patiently. “Either he’ll come up with some flimsy excuse to avoid seeing me, or he’ll agree to talk just so I don’t suspect him.”“And you plan to keep playing the game without revealing yourself either?”“He knows I’m Mark Ferro, production manager at Glamour,” Mark said, smiling out of the right corner of his mouth. “He won’t show his claws here — not today. But if he slips up...”Mark patted the side of his stom

  • Chapter 1041 An Interview with Celia?

Mark considered Mary Ellen's suggestion about interviewing Celia.Mary Ellen leaned forward. “Mary Ellen, you’re aware the public will connect the dots that Celia used to work here. And if haters start digging up her dirt?”Mary Ellen shook her head. “Leave that to me. We’re not going to mention the time Celia was getting railed by half the cast of Times of Glory, especially Jake Brett, her official railer.”“You mean her ‘official boyfriend’?” Mark pursed his lips.“I wouldn’t call that a relationship,” Mary Ellen replied with disdain. “Anyway, we also won’t mention the fateful moment when Celia accidentally drank the aphrodisiac coffee Lawrence Sodré had meant for Briana and ended up relieving the symptoms by riding Karl.”“Luana thanks her for that,” Mark said in good humor.“So, do I have your approval to do the interview?” Mary Ellen’s eyes sparkled with anticipation.Mark rested his hand on his chin.Maybe it was finally time for his ex-wife to shine in the entertainment industr

  • Chapter 1040 The Arm That Never Healed

Mark straightened in his chair, diving back into the report with renewed focus.Linda’s report didn’t outright declare that Jean D’Arveil was actually Armand Drakov, but the coincidence of Jean losing his left arm was too striking to ignore! The mechanical arm had been fitted two years after the separatist battle led by Drakov ended, when Drakov had been presumed dead.Had Drakov been hiding all this time under a false identity, arranging for the new arm and quietly rebuilding his forces? After all, if Jean D’Arveil was Drakov, it would explain why Elara’s charitable foundation was named “Black Feather”: the exact war code name Drakov had used!“What a coincidence that Elara showed up as a candidate to marry Christopher — and the irony of ironies, recommended by me!” Mark ground his teeth.Karl lifted his head. “You say something, Mark?”“I was just talking about Chris and Elara’s engagement. You going?” Mark asked casually, masking his tension masterfully.“I wouldn’t miss a good par

We see that stuff in the shows and series we produce!” Christopher tossed the keys back onto the desk with a loud CLINK.“You were dragging your feet on promoting Celia because you were afraid she’d slip out from under your control?” Christopher guessed correctly.Gilson held his breath again, impressed by how quickly his son had read his mind.Like father, like son.“The woman who’s putting us at the top of relevance

Celia shook her head, barely believing she was running the risk (or the chance) of being proposed to!She looked straight at the man in front of her.Gilson Vasconcelos was old enough to be her father, but he still radiated charm and seduction. It was obvious he had been hot and ripped when he was young, just like Christopher is today.Like father, like son.Still, Celia remembered that this same Gilson had rehired her with promises of professional growth, but all she had gotten so far was a “promotion” to the status of kept mistress.Gilson was so fierce and brutal in bed that Celia would spend days unable to get out of it.That was back when they were just lovers. Now he wanted to take it to the next level with marriage?Would she, a few years down the line, be fired and discarded the same way Gilson had just done to Claudia?Thinking about it, Celia raised her hand before Gilson could say anything.“Mr. Vasconcelos, don’t talk about ‘our love story’ as if we were a normal couple.
