Mark is still in his office when the door opens, this time revealing James.

“James, good afternoon!” Mark greeted him cheerfully after his heartfelt conversation with Briana. “Have you packed your bags yet? It’s the day after tomorrow, right? Don’t worry about the expenses; everything is covered by LCN.”

James closes the door and steps closer to his new friend. “Everything is ready, Mark. But I’d like to ask a question, if it’s not too much trouble.”

“Sure?” Mark places the documents he picked up from the floor on his desk.

“You know about Armando Pratt, right?”

“Brie just left here saying I acted in haste.” Mark somewhat guessed what James wanted from this conversation.

“I thought the same when Armando told me what happened,” James admitted. “And now? Now that some time has passed and both of you are thinking clearly, what do you think?”

The cold and severe Lord Ferro still believes that Armando Pratt deserved to go bankrupt for daring to touch his wife, Lady Ferro.

Mark sat at his desk, trying to appear casual in front of James, who was still in the office. Mark’s gaze occasionally fell on his phone, anxious to call Alan Campos Rocha. James narrated his life, “So, the divorce has finally gone through. Now I can find another decent girl to marry and start a family.” “This time, it will work out because you’re doing it the honest way,” Mark commented, trying to sound sincere. James’s eyes lit up. “Exactly! I’m finally going to marry a girl who doesn’t hold a grudge against Briana and who won’t use me as an excuse or a pawn—” James noticed Mark staring at his phone. “Sorry, Mark, am I interrupting you?” “Huh?” Mark suddenly lifted his head. “Are you waiting for a call?” James pointed to the phone. “Actually, I am. But go on, what were you saying?” Mark smiled nervously. James was so happy with his new life that he didn’t notice Mark’s eagerness. “Oh, I was saying that now I’m going to start over, without all the drama from the Vasconcelos f

Mark finished his phone call with Alan Campos Rocha. “Yes, thank you very much for your understanding, Young Mr. Rocha. So, when he shows up kneeling in front of you, you ‘forgive’ him.” Mark smiled with relief, “Okay, see you next week. Bye.” Mark hung up just in time to find Mary Ellen entering his office. “Excuse me, Mark, but we need to talk honestly!” “And since when have we talked dishonestly, Mary Ellen?” Mark was surprised by her statement. “I hope today isn’t the first time.” Mary Ellen pushed a chair back and sat facing him. “Did you know I had another confrontation with Luana today?” Mark tensed his jaw. He had an idea of what the ladies had discussed... “Does Luana still think Celia intentionally tried to seduce Karl?” “Unbelievable!” Mary Ellen raised her hands to the sky. “How can something like that be possible? Celia drank that coffee by mistake - coffee meant for Briana, I might add!” Mark clenched his fists. He was heading to Lagoon City specifically to deal

In the Sweet Aroma café, Katrina was stunned by Armando’s announcement that he would be traveling to Lagoon City with her ex-husband and her cousin’s husband.Armando started laughing, enjoying her shocked expression. “HA, HA, HA... what’s with that face, friend?”“It’s the face of someone who doesn’t understand a thing, but you definitely have my attention to explain,” Katrina retorted, daring to sip her cold cappuccino.Armando pouted. “You don’t want to tell me how you’re doing...”“FINE!” Katrina shouted, hitting a high pitch in the process. “I’m living in the Vasconcelos Mansion and I’ve been suffering like crazy from the divorce. You know my motto.”“And you know my opinion,” Armando replied, swallowing a fried cheese ball.“Why don’t you consider my feelings?” Katrina frowned. “I can’t be divorced while Briana is happy with a hot husband. IT’S NOT FAIR!”“You don’t get to decide that, dear,” Armando said matter-of-factly.“Now tell me why you’re going to Lagoon City with Mark.”

Katrina couldn’t understand how Mark managed to convince Alan Rocha to leave the Pratt family financially ruined.“Armando, something isn’t adding up.” Katrina emptied her cold cappuccino cup. “I know that Mark has Alan Rocha’s backing. Don’t ask me how; he never told us. But to ask that you go bankrupt just because you did a reasonable request...?”Armando frowned. “It wasn’t a reasonable request. It was a stupidity I regret to this day. Mark Ferro is somehow powerful and I wouldn’t have done any of that if I had known beforehand.”“My aunt just wanted the best for her daughter.” Katrina tried to justify the embarrassment.“I heard that now Briana’s parents support the marriage,” Armando countered, seeing how out of touch Katrina was.“Yes, because they always want to be on the winning team. If Mark continued to be the loser janitor, they would insist that Briana divorce him to this day.”“Well, things have changed for Mark, and now I hope things change for me too. Since I couldn’t a

Katrina was now in her office at the Vasconcelos Company.Thinking about everything Armando said, she still couldn’t understand what he had told her.“Mark Ferro called Alan Campos Rocha and turned the Pratt family into a bunch of broke people with just one phone call in five minutes. How is that even humanly possible? And why would Young Mr. Rocha heed the request of a crazy slum dweller like Mark?”The door opened, and Gilson appeared, overhearing Katrina’s question murmured between clenched teeth.“Daughter, are you still worried about Briana and Mark? Forget them, and focus on your life.”Katrina turned to her father, a bit hurt by the interruption. “Dad, did you know that the Pratt family went bankrupt because of Mark?”“No, and I don’t want to hear that fake news.” Gilson tossed a thick document onto Katrina’s desk. “I want you to study this.”“What the hell is this?” Katrina grimaced, with no desire to read it.“These are the metrics, along with user comments who signed up for

At the Vasconcelos Company, Gilson was not willing to let Katrina off the hook for the failure of the series she created. “Daughter, do you understand why your series flopped?” Katrina jumped up from her seat, shouting at the top of her lungs, “Stop saying that! For heaven’s sake, we’re still on the first episode!” Gilson shook his head, disheartened. “I see you still have a lot to learn. Daughter, we had a viewership goal, and that goal wasn’t met. We expected 6 rating points; we only reached 2.” Katrina felt like spitting blood. Damn it! “Do you understand that—” “‘Do you understand that—’” Katrina mockingly imitated her father’s voice, interrupting him rudely. “Change the record, old man, will you?” Gilson remained unfazed, “Do you understand that your trip to prison hurt your series’ performance? Do you understand that we failed because we lost the support of LCN?” Katrina wanted to bury herself in a hole. Anything would be better than taking responsibility for the wrongdo

Before Gilson left Katrina’s office, he paused at the door, indecisive. Then, he turned to her. “Are you serious about Mark?” A triumphant smile appeared on Katrina’s lips. “I knew you wouldn’t be able to resist the mystery.” “What mystery? Come on, be more straightforward!” “I found Armando Pratt. He was having coffee at Sweet Aroma,” Katrina informed him. “He said Aunt Nadir urged him to go after Briana to convince her to divorce Mark.” “That must have been when my mom had just kicked them out of the mansion,” Gilson suggested. “I think so too. Anyway, Armando claimed that Mark made a phone call to Alan Rocha, and five minutes later, his father called to announce the sudden bankruptcy. The reason? They offended the wrong people.” Gilson squinted and scratched his chin, thinking... “Mark, with all this going on? As if those helicopters and the Aurelia Cathedral where the wedding took place weren’t enough...” “That’s a lot for just being the backup for Young Mr. Rocha, huh?”

  • Here Comes the Lord   Chapter 471 Welcome to Lagoon City!

Lagoon City. The city that is constantly referred to as the “Brazilian Los Angeles” or the “Capixaba New York” because of the promise it emanates of new life and opportunity to all who move there. In Armando’s case, he was also in search of an opportunity. The city where Josias Rocha reigned supreme shone at night, with the bustling downtown where workers sought their way home. But our story takes us a little away from the center, heading toward the coastal area. In the famous neighborhood of Sunset Village, the place where a good part of the elite lived, stood Mark’s mansion. The mansion was painted white and had a colonial style, traditional yet elegant, a feast for the eyes of anyone who saw it. Mark rejected the exaggerated and futuristic modernisms that some mansions embraced. James and Armando were left speechless when they entered the “foyer” of the mansion, which resembled a grand atrium. “A fountain IN HERE?” Armando exclaimed. Not even in his wildest dreams would th

His shirt was unbuttoned, revealing a chiseled torso and sculpted abs as if carved from marble. The scandal involving Luana had clearly pushed him to the edge.“This is absurd!” he snapped. “That photo makes it look like Luana caused some irreversible brain damage!”Ribeiro, sitting nearby, raised a brow and countered coldly, “So you’re saying you’d only care if it had caused brain damage, Mr. Carvalho?”“Ugh, no!” Karl growled. Then, gesturing toward Mark, he added, “See? He twists everything I say!”Mark, ever the composed mediator, raised a calming hand. “Karl, Sergeant Ribeiro is just trying to help. You and Luana need to understand the consequences of your actions.”“I tried to stop Luana!” Karl protested.“But it wasn’t enough!” Ribeiro barked back. “You’re only dominant with her in bed, just enough to make her lose the ability to walk?”The fury in Karl’s face was volcanic, his lips quivering with words he hadn’t yet unleashed. Then, as if by divine intervention, Mark’s cell phone

Despite boasting excellent viewership ratings, nearly every single show had been crossed out with aggressive red pen strokes — driven more by personal spite than professional logic.“I wonder if my brother finally stopped fooling around and came to work,” Gilson muttered, squinting at the paperwork.Claudia slammed her hand down on the desk, scattering documents and breaking one of her perfectly manicured nails.“Forget those perverts, my love!” she snapped. “Don’t you see we have a golden opportunity here?”Gilson leaned forward, narrowing his eyes. “You’re right. While no one’s paying attention, we can axe all these shows no one watches.”At that moment, Katrina stormed in and slammed the door shut with a loud bang, sighing heavily.“Hello, darling,” Claudia greeted, almost as
