Chapter 52 Enough Is Enough

An unspoken dread hung over the gathering like a thundercloud.

As the guests whispered and shot wary glances among themselves, Fernanda stood at the center of the storm, her eyes narrowed, projecting an icy indifference.

Karl protested with vehemence, "What kind of nonsense is this? Fernanda, you're really okay with Briana being taken away by those thugs?"

Fernanda just answered with mockery smile as if the predicament were merely a soap opera playing out rather than a harrowing reality.

"Everyone knows they're not just taking her for a stroll, right?" snapped a colleague nearby, his cheeks flushed with indignation.

Fernanda shrugged, her face as impassive as stone. "That's no longer my problem," she said, her voice colder than the chill of the marble floor beneath their feet.

Luana, her eyes wide in disbelief, stepped forward. "What a horrible thing for you to say, Fernanda!" she exclaimed, her horror palpable.

"Ugh, why all the drama?" Fernanda replied, waving her hand dismissively.
