Mark’s concern about the accident only lasted a few seconds after seeing that it had not caused any major consequences.
Still, it was very embarrassing for Adrian to crash his car into a RAM truck that was traveling smoothly, without dreaming that he would be hit by a careless driver.
Adrian got out of the car and immediately went to the owner of the other car, “Did you buy your driver’s license and it came in the mail?”
The driver of the other car squinted. “What are you talking about, man? You were the one who strayed from your lane! You weren’t looking ahead!”
Mark smiled slightly. Indeed, Adrian had parked on the wrong side (the driver’s seat would never be parallel to the sidewalk but in the middle of the street) and when he was supposed to get out, he got distracted because he wanted to provoke Mark.
The driver of the other car got out and started arguing with Adrian. Celia noticed that the driver was wearing light clothes, probably returning from a camping trip with friends due to his choice of vehicle.
The driver was also attractive, making Celia secretly smile.
But upon realizing that Mark was still on the sidewalk, Celia quickly got out of the car and joined Adrian to discuss the indefensible.
“You knew my friend was distracted and went straight in front of him anyway!” Celia increased the absurdity of the argument.
“I couldn’t dodge in time!” The driver complained.
Adrian whined, “Your car is fancier and bigger than mine. Look, the dent got worse on my car. With you, not even a scratch happened!”
“Then let’s call the police so they can decide!” The driver held out his cell phone.
Adrian’s legs shook a little. “Ehr... I don’t think you need to involve the police, my friend. Maybe if we discuss some monetary values...”
While the discussion was going on, Mark looked the other way and noticed another car, a red Aston Martin, approaching and parking behind the Dodge Ram.
When the driver’s door opened, Mark saw a woman wearing glasses and business clothes. He smiled, recognizing her.
As Linda approached, she was surprised by the car crash. “Lord Ferro, what happened here? Why are you in the middle of this mess?”
“The woman arguing over there is my ex-wife.” Mark smiled slightly.
“WHAT?” Linda looked incredulously at the young lady who had left her boss for that clumsy paunch.
She didn’t witness the accident, but she could tell by looking at Adrian’s car that he was in the wrong.
Shaking her head, Linda turned to Mark, “Lord Ferro, I came to get you. Please, let’s get out of here and avoid this ridiculous scene.”
Linda’s voice reached Celia’s ears and she was shocked.
“Hey, who are you, and why are you talking to my ex-husband in that tone?” She approached them.
“Are you Lady Ferro?”
“EX-Lady Ferro, with great pleasure!” Celia lifted her chin.
“I’m sorry for the bad decision you made.” Linda couldn’t control herself, “You’re the perfect definition of ‘exchanging the right for the doubtful’.”
Celia is mortified. “But who do you think you are to talk to me like that?”
“Watch what you say, Celia!” Mark warns her, “You’re causing a scene.”
Adrian approaches his ‘girlfriend’. “Celia, darling, don’t bother with these people. You don’t have to interfere in his life anymore.”
“Exactly.” Linda confirms, “You now have to worry about this citizen who got you into trouble as soon as the divorce came through.”
Adrian is also irritated, “Hey, miss, there’s no problem here. Me and the other driver there will solve this in a good way!”
Linda smiles mockingly. “You think you’re a prince, but you’re a frog that no princess will dare kiss!”
“WHAT?” Adrian turns to Mark. Does he have anything to do with this?
Mark and Linda looked at each other in understanding and decided not to give any further satisfaction. They leave and get into the Aston Martin.
Celia, Adrian, and the driver of the Dodge Ram were amazed as the luxury car disappeared from their sight.
Then came the realization on Celia’s part, “But... But... How is that possible? Where does Mark know that secretary from?”
“Did she look like a secretary?” Adrian asked dumbfounded, “With that big car...”
The owner of the Dodge Ram looked at them as if they were nothing more than fools. “Doesn’t it occur to you that those two are rich?”
“RICH?” Celia tilts her head back, “HA, HA, HA! My pal, I was his wife! He’s a janitor at the company I work for!”
“How do you explain that girl and the big car?” The driver crossed his arms.
“Ah, he must have hired that girl as an actress to come here and pretend to be rich in front of us.” Adrian can only think about this idea.
“That could have been it, Adrian.” Celia shakes her head, “Mark can’t be that rich and have lived with me in poverty.”

Dressed in a miniature sailor outfit, he reached for a piece of fruit with chubby, uncoordinated fingers.Althea sat nearby, watching her great-grandson with a softness rarely seen in the iron matriarch."Is he learning to eat on his own?" she asked, a small smile on her lips."He is," Briana replied, smoothing the skirt of her evening gown. "But today, Domitila is on patrol. We can't have him making a mess in that outfit."Everyone was dressed to the nines. The air hummed with the anticipation of a celebration, though the exact cause remained a mystery to some.Sandro and Nadir took their seats, exchanging glances."We’re dying of curiosity, daughter," Sandro admitted, fidgeting with his napkin.Nadir leaned in, h

Gone were the casual clothes; he was sharp in a tailored shirt and tie, his hair styled to perfection.Beside him sat Celia. She wore a pinstripe suit that screamed executive authority, yet there was a softness to her posture, a magnetic pull that kept her leaning slightly toward Jake. The chemistry wasn't just for the cameras; it was palpable in the air."Are we clear?" Mary Ellen asked, smoothing her skirt."We can start," Celia replied, her voice steady. The cameraman counted down, and the red tally light blinked on."Dearest viewers of Glamour," Mary Ellen began, her professional smile beaming. Hours later, the library felt less like a room in a family home and more like a corporate bunker. Gilson swirled the amber liquid in his glass, leaning against the mahogany desk he was about to vacate."Is it true?" Sandro asked, blinking as if waking from a long dream. "I am to be the CEO?""It is as you know," Gilson said, putting on a performance worthy of an Academy Award. "Ever since the news broke about Katrina... the public wants my head on a pike. They are threatening to cancel subscriptions, delete the app, the works. The Untamed just blew up; we can't let a scandal kill the hype."He pulled his smartphone from his pocket and thrust the screen toward his brother."Read it yourself."Sandro scanned the feed. It was a bloodbath. Users were posting hashtags, threatening boycotts, and demanding Gilson’s resignation.Having a daughter who was a traitor to the crown, one who had attempted to assassinate Lady Ferro, was unforgivable. What neither of them knew was that the initial wa

Christopher paused, letting the silence last a little longer. He weighed his next words carefully, knowing how callous the truth might sound when speaking of the freshly dead."If I admit that I'm not entirely shattered by Katrina's death," he said slowly, meeting Dalila's gaze, "would that make me a heartless brother?"Dalila adjusted a spray bottle on her cart, choosing her words with diplomatic precision. "It depends on how you look at it. You can be sad for the loss of a life, and you certainly didn't wish for her death."But you are also aware that she willingly walked into danger with the intent to murder. If Katrina weren't dead right now, she would be in handcuffs.""Exactly," Christopher sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Either way, we lost Katrina a long time ago. I think... I think I always knew it would end something like this.""Regarding your plan to stay single," Dalila said, shifting the tone to something lighter, trying to pull him out of the dark, "don't worry t

"And now, Mark?" Sandro asked with uncertainty. "What happens to us?"Mark offered a faint, reassuring smile. "You will continue to be my in-laws, of course. The only difference is that you’ll have to tolerate a security detail stationed around the mansion from now on.""Do we get royal titles too?" Nadir asked, her eyes lighting up.A ripple of genuine laughter moved through the room, a momentary balm that allowed them to forget, just for a second, the corpse in the morgue.Everyone laughed, except Claudia."HEY!"The sound was like a braying donkey, jarring and discordant. The laughter died instantly."Have you all forgotten a mere detail?" she screeched.Mark’s smile evaporated. He turned to face his aunt-in-law, his expression hardening into glacial ice."I don't know what you heard or what fantasy you choose to believe, Claudia," Mark said, his voice low and dangerous. The mood was gloomy with the sounds of a mother unraveling.Claudia wasn't just crying; she was convulsing on the sofa, a portrait of grief curdled into madness, unable to process the bloody result of her son's engagement party."No, no, NOOO!"
