Mark’s concern about the accident only lasted a few seconds after seeing that it had not caused any major consequences.

Still, it was very embarrassing for Adrian to crash his car into a RAM truck that was traveling smoothly, without dreaming that he would be hit by a careless driver.

Adrian got out of the car and immediately went to the owner of the other car, “Did you buy your driver’s license and it came in the mail?”

The driver of the other car squinted. “What are you talking about, man? You were the one who strayed from your lane! You weren’t looking ahead!”

Mark smiled slightly. Indeed, Adrian had parked on the wrong side (the driver’s seat would never be parallel to the sidewalk but in the middle of the street) and when he was supposed to get out, he got distracted because he wanted to provoke Mark.

The driver of the other car got out and started arguing with Adrian. Celia noticed that the driver was wearing light clothes, probably returning from a camping trip with friends due to his choice of vehicle.

The driver was also attractive, making Celia secretly smile.

But upon realizing that Mark was still on the sidewalk, Celia quickly got out of the car and joined Adrian to discuss the indefensible.

“You knew my friend was distracted and went straight in front of him anyway!” Celia increased the absurdity of the argument.

“I couldn’t dodge in time!” The driver complained.

Adrian whined, “Your car is fancier and bigger than mine. Look, the dent got worse on my car. With you, not even a scratch happened!”

“Then let’s call the police so they can decide!” The driver held out his cell phone.

Adrian’s legs shook a little. “Ehr... I don’t think you need to involve the police, my friend. Maybe if we discuss some monetary values...”

While the discussion was going on, Mark looked the other way and noticed another car, a red Aston Martin, approaching and parking behind the Dodge Ram.

When the driver’s door opened, Mark saw a woman wearing glasses and business clothes. He smiled, recognizing her.

As Linda approached, she was surprised by the car crash. “Lord Ferro, what happened here? Why are you in the middle of this mess?”

“The woman arguing over there is my ex-wife.” Mark smiled slightly.

“WHAT?” Linda looked incredulously at the young lady who had left her boss for that clumsy paunch.

She didn’t witness the accident, but she could tell by looking at Adrian’s car that he was in the wrong.

Shaking her head, Linda turned to Mark, “Lord Ferro, I came to get you. Please, let’s get out of here and avoid this ridiculous scene.”

Linda’s voice reached Celia’s ears and she was shocked.

“Hey, who are you, and why are you talking to my ex-husband in that tone?” She approached them.

“Are you Lady Ferro?”

“EX-Lady Ferro, with great pleasure!” Celia lifted her chin.

“I’m sorry for the bad decision you made.” Linda couldn’t control herself, “You’re the perfect definition of ‘exchanging the right for the doubtful’.”

Celia is mortified. “But who do you think you are to talk to me like that?”

“Watch what you say, Celia!” Mark warns her, “You’re causing a scene.”

Adrian approaches his ‘girlfriend’. “Celia, darling, don’t bother with these people. You don’t have to interfere in his life anymore.”

“Exactly.” Linda confirms, “You now have to worry about this citizen who got you into trouble as soon as the divorce came through.”

Adrian is also irritated, “Hey, miss, there’s no problem here. Me and the other driver there will solve this in a good way!”

Linda smiles mockingly. “You think you’re a prince, but you’re a frog that no princess will dare kiss!”

“WHAT?” Adrian turns to Mark. Does he have anything to do with this?

Mark and Linda looked at each other in understanding and decided not to give any further satisfaction. They leave and get into the Aston Martin.

Celia, Adrian, and the driver of the Dodge Ram were amazed as the luxury car disappeared from their sight.

Then came the realization on Celia’s part, “But... But... How is that possible? Where does Mark know that secretary from?”

“Did she look like a secretary?” Adrian asked dumbfounded, “With that big car...”

The owner of the Dodge Ram looked at them as if they were nothing more than fools. “Doesn’t it occur to you that those two are rich?”

“RICH?” Celia tilts her head back, “HA, HA, HA! My pal, I was his wife! He’s a janitor at the company I work for!”

“How do you explain that girl and the big car?” The driver crossed his arms.

“Ah, he must have hired that girl as an actress to come here and pretend to be rich in front of us.” Adrian can only think about this idea.

“That could have been it, Adrian.” Celia shakes her head, “Mark can’t be that rich and have lived with me in poverty.”

He simply watched her, his expression an unreadable mask.“Please, hold the champagne,” Celia said, a dry, self-deprecating smile playing on her lips.“The only thing popping around here is my Lamborghini,” Mark replied flatly.Celia approached the desk, resting her hands on the edge. “Mark, I needed to see you.”“‘Needed’?” He leaned back. “Why?”“Doesn't the fact that you were my first husband count for anything?”“If Brie heard you...”“I think it's past time Briana scrubbed the brainwashing Luana put her through, don't you?” Celia cut in, her voice firm.Mark blinked, genuinely surprised. The woman standing before him wasn't the promiscuous doormat he remembered. This was the Celia who had clawed her way to respect at Vasconcel

Mark stepped into the main floor of Glamour, immediately noting the eerie quiet that hung over the usually bustling office. Empty cubicles gaped like missing teeth; the chaos of the city's public transport system had evidently kept many at home. It was understandable fear, not laziness. He walked straight to Gene’s office.“Gene,” Mark said, foregoing pleasantries as he leaned against the doorframe. “Do not dock the pay of any employee who couldn't — or wouldn't — come in today. Make sure they know their jobs are safe.”“Yes, Lord Ferro,” Gene replied instinctively.Mark let out a dry chuckle, glancing over his shoulder. “Careful. Someone could have opened that door and heard you.”Gene cleared his throat, his expression hardening back into professionalism. “Lord Ferro, do you intend to take action? Linda Mattes has briefed us on everything.”“Have you checked your email yet?”Gene swiveled his chair toward his computer, clicking open his inbox. His eyes scanned the screen, widening a

Inside the Glamour offices, those who had braved the bus routes or risked driving their own cars worked with heads ducked low, a collective anxiety humming beneath the fluorescent lights."Does anyone know where Mary Ellen is?" Efraim asked, his voice cutting through the tense silence. He leaned back in his chair with a sneer. "Don't tell me she's hiding under her bed, or on top of it with that big black cop of hers.""That 'big black cop' is MILITARY LIEUTENANT João Ribeiro, and he is her BOYFRIEND," Luana snapped, her patience for prejudice evaporating. "Didn't you see the videos and reels that went viral yesterday?"Efraim shrugged, unbothered, wearing his 'awful boss' persona like a badge of honor. "Yeah, I took a peek. But seriously, is she currently buried under the ebony?""She is risking her life reporting from the Bus Terminal while we sit here in the comfort of air conditioning," Gene interjected, his voice flat and authoritative.Efraim shut his mouth instantly. • Chapter 1052 Controlling the Narrative

Mark and Briana sat side-by-side on the plush sofa of the master suite, the picture of resilience. Briana had traded her hospital gown for a sharp, tailored pantsuit, looking every inch the formidable executive despite the recent childbirth. Cradled securely in her arms, Miguel Ângelo slept deeply, a bundle of innocence oblivious to the political storm brewing outside.Standing opposite them, Regis held his smartphone steady, framing the shot.“Whenever you’re ready,” the butler murmured.Mark stared directly into the lens, his expression grave. “Hello, citizens of Braspolis. I want to take this moment to share my thoughts on the events shaking our beloved city. First and foremost, I feel a heavy burden for the panic this has caused you all. As you have heard, two of my vehicles were targeted by bombings. The police are investigating and doing their utmost to unmask these terrorists.”Briana leaned forward slightly, her voice softening but her eyes steel. “That is right — terrorists.

Mark sat motionless for a second, the words hanging between them like smoke that refused to clear.“You’re telling me...” He trailed off, unwilling to finish the sentence out loud and sound even more foolish than he already felt.Ribeiro raised both hands in a gentle, placating gesture. “Hey, don’t beat yourself up, Lord Ferro. The bastard probably left the front hood slightly ajar on purpose, just to distract you.”Mark’s fists tightened until the knuckles whitened. “And it worked.”Ribeiro’s voice softened. “No one can be perfect every second of every day.”Mark stared at the wall. Comfort wasn’t something he accepted easily. He was the one who offered it, who fixed things, who kept everyone else standing. Being on the receiving end felt wrong.“That’s not an excuse,” he said quietly. “One slip like that, and my wife becomes a widow. I have a son who hasn’t even memorized my face yet.” He drew in a long, steady breath. “We at least have confirmation now. What happened was a delibera

The next morning, Briana and little Miguel Ângelo were driven straight from the hospital to the Ferro House.Anyone who assumed Mark had ordered it was mistaken. The decision came from Briana herself. She stepped through the grand entrance still leaning on Regis for support, her voice steady as she faced a stunned Mark. “I’m not going to let them blow up the General Hospital, with hundreds of innocent patients inside, just because I’m there.”Mark’s brow furrowed. “So instead you want them to blow up this house, with you and our son inside?”Briana answered with a soft, almost regal smile. That smile, the one that could have belonged to Empress Sissi, melted the hard lines of his disapproval. Whatever anger he had tried to summon simply dissolved.Regis scratched the back of his head. “So... what now?”Mark exhaled, pretending the choice wasn’t already made for him. “Take Lady Ferro to her rooms. Notify the immediate family. Make sure Althea and Dalila are included.”Julian cleared hi
