Not a Nightmare

Lilly Goldberg was dressed ever so flamboyantly as she waltzed into the reserved hall for the welcome party of the new heir.

She was dressed with only one thing in mind, seduction. Her mother had filled her head with all sorts of thoughts and she just couldn't wait for everything to become her reality.

"Just imagine the life we would live if you were to be married to the heir of the Jacobs family!" Her mother had told her while she was getting ready for the party.

Of all the companies he owned around the world, he was going to reveal himself to their district first! It truly must be fate.

Just as she had expected, people couldn't get their eyes off her as she walked in. She was truly one of the most beautiful women in the city. If there were a list, she would be in the top five she was sure.

"Daniel, do help find our reserved seats." Kelly Goldberg ordered her soon to be son in law and Daniel immediately rushed forward to carry out the order.

She moved an inch closer to her daughter and lowered her voice to a tone only audible for both of them to hear. "Remember the plan darling, you have to stand out tonight and make a great impression when we get the chance to meet him up close."

Lilly nodded her head with a certain smile. "Don't worry mom, I'll make sure he can't stop thinking about me even after the party." She assured.

Daniel waved them over with a big smile the moment he found their reserved seats and Kelly scoffed. "Ugh, what an old fool he is." She muttered to her daughter before faking a smile at him. "Coming!"

Lilly gasped in surprise. "Wow! Front row seats!" She thought to herself, 'it truly must be fate indeed!'

Their chairs were closer to the stage because someone wanted them to have a good look of him when he would be standing there.

Speaking of the 'someone', Ryan threw his dress shirt on and began to button up. All he could think about was the look on his ex wife's family's face when they would see him standing up there, higher than they could ever dream of reaching.

The door to his room pushed open and he turned around to see an angel-- oh his assistant, Kathie Hughes, rather.

She was dressed in a seductive red pencil off shoulder dress that outlined her curves. A charcoal black wedge heel that matched her small purse and gloves made her seem taller than she originally was and her beautiful face was dully outlined with make-up and her heart shaped lips were colored in burgundy red.

The funny thing was the fact that she didn't need any make-up to make her look beautiful. Remember the top five list of beautiful women? She was surely number one.

Her beautiful eyes fell on Ryan's bare chest as she walked in and she couldn't bring herself to look away.

He had only done about two buttons of his shirt when she walked in unannounced and his hands froze where they were as he saw her.

He couldn't help but to stare. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever set his eyes on and he was never one to hide such comments when they were true. "You look very beautiful."

His words shook her back to her senses and she looked away from his chest. "Oh... Uh..." She cleared her throat and managed a smile. "Thank you Sir. I came to tell you that the guests have arrived and are waiting for you to address them. I am sorry for barging in just like that."

Ryan smiled. "No it's alright. I'm partly decent after all." He said as he continued to button his shirt.

She was shrieking on the inside. She felt her stomach do a cartwheel just thinking of the fact that she was supposed to accompany him as his date to the party, his date!

Would she ever be able to get herself to stop thinking about the most perfect bare chest she had set her eyes on him!

She blinked and flashed Jim a smile.

Ryan noticed how stiff she had become just standing inside the room with him and he couldn't help the smile that worked up on his face.

He turned his back to her and continued to dress as he spoke. "I'm not thinking of doing anything inappropriate with you so if you are feeling uncomfortable then you can wait for me outside. I'll only be a minutes or two."

At first, she was surprised by his words but later smiled and nodded her head before walking out of the room and only a few seconds later, Ryan was done and ready to go.

The hall was filled with several prestigious people from the companies there in Seattle that the Jacobs family owned a big chunk of and other small companies that were receiving funds from J international as well.

Anxiety or perplexity weren't enough of words to explain the mood of the crowd. A lot of people wondered how young he was and what he would be like.

The late Austin Jacobs wasn't any friendlier than he should be and he knew when to draw the line with a thicker pen in case someone had tagged it blur and tried to cross it.

Whoever the new heir was, would he also be nice to them or would he rule with an iron fist?

Finally, all assumptions and questions were put aside as his beautiful assistant, Kathie Hughes, walked up to the stage and announced his entrance.

With loud cheers and applauds, the crowd eagerly peered forward in their seats to catch a glimpse of the man even before he came out.

"This is your chance my darling." Kelly whispered to her daughter as they all rose to their feet to applaud his entrance.

Behold! A man more handsome than any they had ever seen walked down the stage with an aura that took all their breaths away in just a second!

With his suit standing firmly against his fit body and his black shoes as shining as the bright moon that night, Ryan Jacobs emerged the stage in a manner so confident that it swept the ladies off their feet.

Most especially Lilly Goldberg. She could have sworn her entire life flashed before her eyes as she saw the face of a man she had long forgotten about.

Trembling, she fell backwards towards her chair, almost losing consciousness as she realized it wasn't a nightmare.

Ryan's eyes locked with hers and her heart ceased. His lips curved into a smirk as he saw the perplexed look on her face.

Lilly was as pale as a dead body.
