At The Meeting

Unlike he had expected, Ryan Jacobs had been settling into his new life more efficiently. Three days now, It almost seemed like a norm for him to be all dressed in expensive clothes while sitting behind a desk with a computer screen at his face and files on the table.

Like he had seen in every movie about rich people at work, he was the big boss in charge of practically half of the world now.

Sometimes, he'd just smile to himself at the plot twist. His wife's company was now in the palm of his hands and that of his disgusting and shameless ex boss as well.

If he wanted, he could ruin their lives without even stressing but he wasn't going to be an unjust man just because he had power in his hands.

He was never a man like that and even though they both deserved it, he wouldn't ruin them like that, at least not for now.

He wouldn't lie, things were still hard for him but with the help of Timothy and Logan Hayes, he could bear it.

Also, he would have never gotten that far if it wasn't for all the helpful tips his grandfather left for him.

Grandpa Jacobs had made some recordings, both videos and audios to help guide him and teach him secrets only he deserved to know. They had been in the cares of Logan Hayes and the man assured him he never showed them to anyone or looked at them himself.

It had only been three days yet Ryan felt like he had read more books than he had done in his entire thirty five years on earth.

But they were all to amplify his knowledge in the business lane since he knew nothing about running companies so he would do them over and over again if he had to.

He hadn't expected Timothy to be so generous with his advice as well, after all, he would have inherited everything if Ryan was never found.

Ryan thought he held a grudge against him because of that and that was why he was all frowned when they had first met but apparently, he was a friendly soul.

Ryan smiled. A lot had changed and it was only the beginning. His eyes fell to the expensive diamond wrist watch on his wrist and he realized it was time for the planned meeting with the board of directors.

He cleared his throat and adjusted his necktie. He wondered if he would meet with Lilly or anyone from her family, or even Daniel Robertson would do.

He couldn't imagine the look that would be on their faces when they saw him and he anticipated for the moment.

He summoned all of the courage in him and walked into the room. They all rose to their feet at his presence and none of them sat down until he was seated.

"Good morning everyone, my name is Ryan Jacobs and I am in charge of things from now on. I promise you my utmost service for as long as I'm here." He said with a gentle smile on his face.

They all nodded their heads.

A beautiful young lady stood up from her chair and wore a pleasant smile on her face. Ryan couldn't help but to notice how beautiful she was.

Her hair was longer than any he had seen as they reached down to her waist in the neatly done ponytail she had on.

Her skin was fair and her lips were as red as any healthy red apple. Her bright blue eyes flickered with an emotion he wasn't sure what but they mesmerized him and anyone else, he was sure.

A red suit clung tightly to her curves and the suit pants were loose as they reached down to her ankle. A black heel held her higher than her normal height.

She smiled gracefully at him with her hands together at her front. "My name is Kathie Hughes and I will be your direct subordinate from now on. You can rely on me to get any task carried out and I will only be one call away within and without working hours."

Ryan nodded his head. "Pleasure to meet you, Miss or Mrs Hughes?"

"Miss Hughes but Kathie is fine with me as well." She said with a smile.

"Alright. Thank you Kathie."

She sat herself back down.

"If there is anything any of you wish to voice out, please, let's hear it. No need to bury a question." Ryan stated.

One man moved closer to the microphone on his desk. "The late Mr Jacobs was such a diligent and generous man and he always knew how to keep his personal matters apart from work. He was never for once unjust and he made sure we could all rely on him to uphold the greatness of the company.

"But you, with all due respect, know nothing about the business world. I'm only voicing my concern."

Ryan smiled. "Thank you for being concerned. As you've said yourself, my grandfather was never unjust and he knew how to keep personal matters apart from work. He handed things over to me because he knew what would be best for everyone. Instead of questioning his judgment, try to support me."

"I didn't-- I--"

"If that will be all then can I be excused?"

"Yes sir. Thank you sir!" They all chorused and Ryan excused himself from their midst.

As he made his way back to his office, Kathie walked up to him. "Mr Jacobs, I must commend you for your words back there."

"Thank you."

"If you could make time tonight, a party has been set up in your honor. It will be a chance for you to familiarize yourself with your staff and shareholders." She explained.

Ryan's ears pricked. That meant Daniel Robertson and Lilly Goldberg would be present as well since he owned a big chunk of their companies.

His lips curved into a smirk. "Of course, I'll be there."
