The rain had just stopped when Lilian stepped out of the taxi in front of the grand gates of the Smith family residence. The air was still cold, with lingering dew clinging to the leaves. She took a deep breath, adjusting her grip on the basket of bread before stepping forward.

As Arkanza's junior at university, Lilian knew him fairly well, though they weren’t particularly close. However, something had compelled her to come here today. Over the past few weeks, Arkanza had seemed busier and more withdrawn. She wanted to make sure her senior was doing okay.

As she approached the main gate, two security guards immediately straightened up. Their gazes were filled with suspicion as they watched the young girl walk toward them.

"Excuse me," Lilian said calmly, though there was a slight tension in her voice.

One of the guards raised an eyebrow. "Who are you?"

"My name is Lilian. I would like to meet Arkanza."

The guard exchanged glances with his colleague, then looked Lilian up and down. She

Almost a month had passed since Arkanza had last attended his lectures due to family matters (his punishment). When he finally returned to campus, the atmosphere felt slightly different. Some students glanced his way, while others whispered about him in hushed tones. He was used to being the center of attention, but this time, it wasn’t because of his status as the heir of the Smith family—it was because of his prolonged absence. That morning, a professor announced that business students would be going on a visit to a well-known business museum in the city. The museum not only showcased the history of economic and industrial development but also featured interactive sessions with several renowned business figures. After the meeting ended, Arkanza prepared to head to the parking lot. However, the moment his feet touched the campus ground, a bad feeling crept into his mind.He glanced around. The sun was almost setting, casting long shadows between the campus buildings. The students who had joined the tour had already dispersed to their respective destinations. The room fell silent again after the alarm blared. Arkanza steadied his breathing, gripping the knife he had just taken from one of Rian’s unconscious men on the floor. However, he knew that continuing to fight would only drain his energy. If he wanted to get out safely, he needed a plan.He glanced at the broken plastic handcuffs, then looked toward the still-open door. Footsteps were approaching, and the voices of armed men echoed down the hallway. If he fought again now, he would run out of strength before he could escape.I have to endure. In an instant, Arkanza made his decision. Milan and Albert, his two most trusted men, were already waiting near the car. “Young Master, where are you going?” Milan asked, his brows furrowed in suspicion. Arkanza sighed. “I just need to go out for a bit.” That answer only made Milan and Albert more eager to follow him. “We’re coming with you,” Albert said firmly. Arkanza glanced at them briefly, wanting to refuse, but he knew there was no use arguing with these two. They were stubborn. “Fine,” he finally relented. Milan and Albert exchanged glances, satisfied that their plan had worked. Vikram, already seated behind the wheel, sighed tiredly at the antics of the two bodyguards. Arkanza sat behind the large desk in his office, his sharp gaze fixed on the report that had just been handed to him. His expression remained calm, but his fingers lightly tapped the desk—a sign that his mind was working fast. “So, Adam really met them?” he asked without looking up from the report. One of his men, a tall, broad-shouldered man dressed in all black, nodded. “Yes, sir. Adam Smith met Lev Bogdan’s followers. They offered him help to deal with the attacks on his company, but under one heavy condition—he had to hand you over, along with all the assets Isabella left behind.” Arkanza’s eyes narrowed. That was an outrageous demand. “Did Adam accept their offer?” “No,” the man answered swiftly. “He refused to give you up, even if it meant his company would fall.” Arkanza leaned back in his chair, his gaze growing even colder. Adam might not be his biological father, but he was the only family figure he had. However, the fact that Lev Bogdan’s followers dared to dema
