Heartache

Two days earlier

Jane stared at the cup of vanilla ice cream in her left hand and the plastic spoon she was clutching with her left hand. She was putting on a long face and even though she didn't engage in any physical activity, she was feeling drained.

She sighed and threw her head backward. She concluded that she was feeling that way because she was emotionally drained.

Jane had phoned Ken that morning but Ray ended up picking up the call, stating that he was going to get the phone across to Ken and leave her a message.

7 hours later. Ken didn't call or texted her and to get away from the feeling of anger and disappointment he was feeling, Jane grabbed a cup of ice cream from her refrigerator but now that she was staring at it, the desire to consume it was gone.

She was sprawled on the carpet in her room, clothed in a loose evening gown. She went for her phone and dialed Ken's number. There was no response. She lowered her head.
