Chapter 110:

Inside the dimly lit house, there was only a faint light hanging in the middle of the room. Even that light was unstable, flickering on and off.

Everyone was astonished by this, and just then, Mr. Thomas placed the groceries he was holding on the table and spoke up, “Why is it so dark and you haven’t turned on the lights yet?”

He then went straight to the light switch and was about to turn it on. But at that moment, Mrs. Laura suddenly exclaimed and rushed to stop Mr. Thomas.

“Which light? That light’s burned out,” she said.

Mr. Thomas was surprised. “What? Burned out? How did it burn out so quickly? It was working fine yesterday.”

“Yesterday is yesterday. Just now when I turned it on, it made a few crackling sounds and then went out, burned out. Don’t turn it on again, be careful, it might short-circuit,” Mrs. Laura insisted, covering the electrical switch with her hand to prevent Mr. Thomas from touching it.
