Soon, word spread that Jeannie’s husband was just a live-in son-in-law, accepting Lies' challenge out of fear of losing face. Nearly everyone believed Ricard was seeking his own death.

It was getting dark. A floodlight turned on, illuminating the area as if it were daylight.

The vertical rock face had a few footholds chiseled out. The cliff was about two hundred meters high, and the club owner had previously organized rock climbing competitions here. Anyone who could reach the top in an hour would receive a huge reward, but very few had managed it, indicating the difficulty.

Looking at the sparse footholds, the mere thought of climbing without safety ropes was terrifying. A single misstep could be fatal!

Lies, dressed in protective gear and equipped with his usual climbing tools, appeared very experienced.

Meanwhile, Ricard, still in his suit and dress shoes, stood in front of the cliff without any protective gear or equipment, seemingly lost in thought.
