Just as the voice said and the words floating in front of him insisted, Aiden felt a surge of vigor course through his body. His bruises, injuries, internal pain. Everything was gone.

His phone vibrated that same moment.

"Hello Pa."

>>> Your grandmother... your... grandmother.

The gentle voice of his grandfather squirmed.

He didn't need to hear more fi³lled with energy and vigor not paying any attention to the words afloat before his eyes. He made a run for it, sprinting to the bus stop where he took a bus to the hospital.

As he reached the hospital he met his grandfather in the front of her hospital room.

"Pa, Pa, what happened..."

The man's shoulder shuddered as he rose to hug his grandson.

The doctors came out at that moment.

"Ha, Mr Aiden, you are here. We have been able to stabilize her but we need to do the surgery as soon as we can, the only reason why we did a stability treatment and put her on life support is because you are not ready. She is stable for now but make preparations as fast as you can so we can proceed with her surgery. The stasis she is put in would only halt the growth of the tumor it won't kill it, we need to remove it."

The doctor said, beholding Aiden's sad countenance he held his shoulders.

"Things can be hard no doubt but I will do my best. That is all I can do. I ask for your help - and God's."

The doctor tapped his shoulders and left with other resident doctors behind him.

Aiden looked at his grandmother who was connected to all sorts of wire tubes– the beeping of the monitor was like a time bomb waiting to go off in his ears.

With the soft robotic voice the letters appeared before his eyes in a blue tab.

'This, I thought I was dreaming about this...'

"Are you okay Aiden? You look rough, did someone beat you?"

The man asked as he belatedly noticed the Aiden whose clothes looked like they soaked in dirt.

"I am okay Pa, please can you give me a minute."

He said hurriedly and excused himself to the male toilet.

"Who are you?"

[I am the Vengeance system]

"What do you mean? What is the vengeance system?"

'Is my brain messing with me since I almost died.'

"Ah, you can read my mind too?"

Aiden agreed with the words of the system as he searched his body and couldn't find a single bruise. Even though his clothes still told the tale of how gruesome and unpleasant the beating was.

"Did you do this to me."

The system feeling no need to answer a question it has already provided answer for, stayed silent.

"You said you can help me, will you help me save my grandmother? will you give me money?"

Aiden let out a silent chuckle and looked at the words that came up next.

"How's that even possible?"

He giggled and dropped his head, pitying himself for his seeming newfound craziness.

'...I must be crazy, did I develop an alter ego or something since I almost died

The more tempting the words of the system sound, the more Aiden found it hard to believe.

He was scared... He was scared of holding unto a baseless superstition he might have created for himself due to his near death experience. Everything was confusing.

What if I'm hallucinating?

Everything was blurry and complex as Aiden tried to trace his memory lane down to the point were he was almost dying. But all that attempt triggered his remembrance of how he was beaten right after he was dumbed by his selfish girlfriend.

Aiden's eyes squirned to a slit as the same rage and feeling of unfairness and disgusting course through the tip of his skin.

'Even if it is an hallucination, I don't mind so far I can get back to those bastards'

Aiden rubbed his chin with a curved lips.

"But the money part, how will I receive the money."

The system display changed, switching to a tab thay displayed several empty slots.

[Host can save objects in inventory]

Aiden was amazed. He took out his phone and put it into the tab–his hand was like it was warping into the space. As he brought his hand out he could see that one of the slots in the tab displaying in front of him was occupied. He could see a smaller version of his phone and beneath the slot was written 'A smartphone'

Aiden's face glistened with awe as he was dazed by what just happened.

"Haha, it's not a superstition."

He smiled widely as he looked at the tab and brought his phone out of it.
