Just as the voice said and the words floating in front of him insisted, Aiden felt a surge of vigor course through his body. His bruises, injuries, internal pain. Everything was gone.
vrrr vrrr vrrr
His phone vibrated that same moment.
"Hello Pa."
>>> Your grandmother... your... grandmother.
The gentle voice of his grandfather squirmed.
He didn't need to hear more fi³lled with energy and vigor not paying any attention to the words afloat before his eyes. He made a run for it, sprinting to the bus stop where he took a bus to the hospital.
As he reached the hospital he met his grandfather in the front of her hospital room.
"Pa, Pa, what happened..."
The man's shoulder shuddered as he rose to hug his grandson.
The doctors came out at that moment.
"Ha, Mr Aiden, you are here. We have been able to stabilize her but we need to do the surgery as soon as we can, the only reason why we did a stability treatment and put her on life support is because you are not ready. She is stable for now but make preparations as fast as you can so we can proceed with her surgery. The stasis she is put in would only halt the growth of the tumor it won't kill it, we need to remove it."
The doctor said, beholding Aiden's sad countenance he held his shoulders.
"Things can be hard no doubt but I will do my best. That is all I can do. I ask for your help - and God's."
The doctor tapped his shoulders and left with other resident doctors behind him.
Aiden looked at his grandmother who was connected to all sorts of wire tubes– the beeping of the monitor was like a time bomb waiting to go off in his ears.
[I can help you]
With the soft robotic voice the letters appeared before his eyes in a blue tab.
'This, I thought I was dreaming about this...'
"Are you okay Aiden? You look rough, did someone beat you?"
The man asked as he belatedly noticed the Aiden whose clothes looked like they soaked in dirt.
"I am okay Pa, please can you give me a minute."
He said hurriedly and excused himself to the male toilet.
"Who are you?"
[I am the Vengeance system]
"What do you mean? What is the vengeance system?"
'Is my brain messing with me since I almost died.'
[No]
[Your brain is not messing with you]
"Ah, you can read my mind too?"
[Yes]
[Host and system has merged]
[All Host's condition have been stabilized that is due to the system emergency safe mode]
Aiden agreed with the words of the system as he searched his body and couldn't find a single bruise. Even though his clothes still told the tale of how gruesome and unpleasant the beating was.
"Did you do this to me."
The system feeling no need to answer a question it has already provided answer for, stayed silent.
"You said you can help me, will you help me save my grandmother? will you give me money?"
[Certainly]
pfftt
Aiden let out a silent chuckle and looked at the words that came up next.
"How's that even possible?"
He giggled and dropped his head, pitying himself for his seeming newfound craziness.
'...I must be crazy, did I develop an alter ego or something since I almost died
The more tempting the words of the system sound, the more Aiden found it hard to believe.
He was scared... He was scared of holding unto a baseless superstition he might have created for himself due to his near death experience. Everything was confusing.
What if I'm hallucinating?
What if I'm actually dead?...
Everything was blurry and complex as Aiden tried to trace his memory lane down to the point were he was almost dying. But all that attempt triggered his remembrance of how he was beaten right after he was dumbed by his selfish girlfriend.
Aiden's eyes squirned to a slit as the same rage and feeling of unfairness and disgusting course through the tip of his skin.
'Even if it is an hallucination, I don't mind so far I can get back to those bastards'
[I can help you reach your vengeance]
[I can create a path for you, a path to being the best in the world]
[All you just need to do is accept quest]
"Quest?"
[Quest are generated task that earn you reward. These rewards include money, skills and stat points]
[You know what money is. However, skills and stat points will contribute to your physique and fighting prowess]
"Wow... you mean I can get better physique with just this stats?"
[Certainly]
"Impressive..."
Aiden rubbed his chin with a curved lips.
"But the money part, how will I receive the money."
[Money will be deposited into Host's inventory]
The system display changed, switching to a tab thay displayed several empty slots.
[Host can save objects in inventory]
"Oh oh"
Aiden was amazed. He took out his phone and put it into the tab–his hand was like it was warping into the space. As he brought his hand out he could see that one of the slots in the tab displaying in front of him was occupied. He could see a smaller version of his phone and beneath the slot was written 'A smartphone'
Aiden's face glistened with awe as he was dazed by what just happened.
"Haha, it's not a superstition."
He smiled widely as he looked at the tab and brought his phone out of it.
[You have received a beginners card]
[You have received a green card]
[Do you want to revealed card?]
Aiden's eyes sparkled as a green card with question mark on it floated in front of him.
"Yes! Yes! Reveal the green card."
[Revealing card...]
[You have gained a new skill 'Weapon Attunition lv.1']> This skill enables you to be able to attune to any weapon within your hands. > You can use this skill once a day. "Wow, I got a skill" At this point Aiden was not even doubtful anymore. His hopes began to rise as he considered that truly he might be able to get money from the system and save his grandmother. "Can you really help me save my grandmother?" Aiden's voice shook with sincerity as he asked the system again. [Certainly]Short and precise but those words gleamed with confidence. "Okay... so let's start" [First Side Quest has been generated]> Save a girl along the alley of the street that leads to your apartment. > Quest reward: +2 blue cards, +2 green card, +1 white cards, +10 stat points.> Quest failure: 4 hours paralysis. "Ah!" Aiden unintendedly shouted as he saw the quest failure. Surely this system does not give room for failure.[This quest has a time limit][Your time is counting][0:02:59:57]Aiden s
Aiden held money in his hand, it was exactly the same. This wasn't a scam alert, it was true. All he just needed to do going forward was complete quest and he would get money. He glanced at the clock on his nightstand and saw that it was already 8:32PM. He wouldn't be able to payment in the night but he still had to go sto the hospital anyways because that is where his grandfather is. With a brighter expression than before Aiden entered the bathroom, he turned on the shower and waited for the water to reach the perfect temperature. He hummed a melodious song to himself, feeling relaxed and happy as the warm water cascaded down his body. He reached for his shampoo and squeezed a small amount into his palm, then began to lather it into his hair. The scent of the shampoo filled the air, and Aiden closed his eyes, enjoying the sensation of the suds massaging his scalp.Next, Aiden reached for his body wash and applied it to his washcloth. He scrubbed his body from head to toe, enjoying
The following day Aiden went to the cashier's office to pay in cash which a easy peasy process. He paid a total of $7,000 for the past and future bills. So he can fully pour his attention towards sourcing for the surgery money. Which he expects will be possible now that he has the system.'Hey system, can't you give me more quest?'He asked in his mind as he walked casually through the lobby which was filled with patients, nurses and other people. [Quesy generation is only possible once every three days][Except for Emergency Quest generations which is random and according to the situation at the time]Of course, there had to be some sort of restriction to all that Aiden could do with the system, if not he would defy all reasoning and skyrocket his way to being the richest in maybe a week. Even though the system was a genuine and could really make him rich and help him have his vengeance, it was a slow and steady process. A process that first involves shaping Aiden into a man that i
[You have received the main quest][Main Quest]> Trace the gang that beat you up and avenge yourself. It will be hard but this is the beginning. > Quest reward: +5 blue cards, +2 green cards, +1 White card, +1 red card, +15 stats point. Qyest failure: Injury, Possibly death. [This quest has a time limit of 1 week]"Ha..." Aiden's jaw fell as he looked down at the quest that appeared before him as he thoroughly brushed his teeth. "I'm sorry, death?" The toothpaste foam in his mouth caused his words to come out somewhat scattered. But the system did not respond. Aiden washed his mouth quickly and after taking his bathe put on a casual tracksuit. "Since it is going to be like this, I should try to give it my all, shouldn't I?" Aiden said as he looked at his phone screen to be sure of the time. "11:22AM... I hope it's not late to go to the gym."Certainly, starting a gym routine can be daunting, but with determination and consistency, Aiden could actually achieve his one-minute
Aiden stared into his phone in the night, it has been two hours since he sent her a 'HI' There has been no response and he was beginning to think–'Perhaps she gave me the contact so she would portray herself as a rude person...I heard girls like her can be very hard to get...And I doubt if she's single because, she's pretty, even prettier than Amby. She probably has a rich guy somewhere taking care of her with no stress. Come on Aiden let's not shoot higher than we can manage. Amby has taught me enough lesson...'Then he looks at the quest failure...'Then again, things have changed. Before, I didn't have the system, but now I have the system. I can do this, I can be a better man.'All these thoughts roamed his head, moving him back and forth till his eyes became dizzy and started to close slowly. buzz buzzThe vibration of the received message prompted his half-asleep eyes to open completely. Aiden sharply brought the screen to his face in anticipation. >> Hello Was what he
Aiden lived every moment in anticipation of how the evening was going to be. He had never felt like this in his entire life, not even when he was trying to get Amby, that could be considered as a school thing, when he was a school boy but this date was a different level. He was going to meet a voluptuous and beautiful woman– he is going g to have a date with her just a day after meeting her. And compared to other ladies he had ever met this woman would make them into unseen ghost. No one would see them as long as she was around. Aiden didn't need to pick out a clothe, he did had a few hardship choosing in between going for a denim dress or just wearing his new grey suit. After a long time of confusion he decided to stick to his instinct and go for the suit, also he didn't forget to do his hair. He had wanted to do it before but forgot when he went shopping. But he made sure he didn't forget this time around. The sky starts to change colors as the sun began to set transitioning from
"What? Aiden, what are you doing here?" She inquired with a shy smile, stuttering along the way. "Oh, I was on a date... and you? Were you on a date too." "So, you left your date over there to come to me? Should I be thankful?" Her voice was beginning to change. "What do you mean? No you shouldn't, I just came to see how dreadful you would be without me. Amby, you are the worst, you kicked me out after taking everything from me. At first I thought it was the end but it looks like this is just the beginning Amby. I will show you... just how much you have lost by losing me." He declared to her with a grin and walked away– seating in front of his date. "So, the reason why you have not experienced some things is because you have been in a relationship... all the while."Aiden smiled as she caught up real quick despite the fact that all he said before leaving was 'Excuse me for a moment' before leaving her to meet Amby."I guess you are quick-witted than I thought." She let out a c
"It's okay, I can take care of this." Athena said as she observed Aiden."No, it is totally okay. I got this." Aiden replied her and stood up. "Excuse me for a moment" He said and made his way to the toilet. Athena smiled as she watched him hurry to the toilet in his fine suit. "He's cute" she muttered. "What should we do ma'am?" "It's fine. Just put on my tab but you don't have to tell my father, the only reason why I chose this place is because the cooking reminds me of mum." "I understand ma'am, the chairwoman developed all the recipes we use today. Surely this is place is a good memory of her." The waiter bowed and walked away, by the looks of how he talked and address Athena, he didn't seem to be just a regular waiter. Even his looks were old and no doubt he was in his forties.[Regealing green card][You have gained $1,000][Revealing blue card][You have gained $100][Revealing blue card][You have gained $100]Aiden looked at his account balance, $360. The following day, Aiden prepared to return to Canada and continue his hunt for the gang that took his parents from him.He had woken up at the crack of dawn full of vigour to start his manhunt. He had just finished packing his bags, his men already outside in the car, its engine on to keep it warm pending the time Aiden finishes with his father's friend. As Aiden's eyes skimmed round the room, his eyes landed on a small picture of his father and mother. His mother had been carry Aiden in her hands. Moving closer, Aiden inspected the picture. This was the first time he was seeing this picture as his grandfather didnt have it.He used a finger to trace their figure. Two of the most important people in his life reduced to nothing but memories frozen in photographs."That was during the time the mafia was after your father. Then, the day they had been waiting for arrived. The head of the Black Lagoon syndicate was captured in Canada, drawn by the relentless attacks that had plagued his syndicate. As Aiden stood before him, his eyes ablaze with fury, he felt a cruel satisfaction in seeing the man who had taken his parents from him brought to justice. The room was dimly lit, the air thick with tension. The sound of rain tapping against the windows added an eerie rhythm to the atmosphere. Mishina Ren's eyes were cold and calculating, a stark contrast to the fire burning within Aiden's gaze. For years, Ren had eluded capture, always slipping through Aiden's fingers at the last moment. But tonight was different. Tonight, the odds were finally in Aiden's favor, and he was determined to make the most of it."Game over, Ren," Aiden's voice was laced with a lethal calmness. "You've caused enough pain. It's time to pay for your sins."Ren's lips curled into a chilling smile. "You're a persistent one, Aiden. But do
It was nightfall. The air was still, the surrounding eerily quiet. The usual night sounds were absent as though they had a premonition of what was to happen. Aiden walked in long strides towards a rundown motel. He had gotten intel that one of the remainjng Black lagoon comander was currently in there with a woman. He had evaded capture for sk long that he had began to drop his guard. He had been sighted in one of the clubs, bragging loudly about how he was as slippery as fish, difficult to catch.Soon after, his story had changed to how he had fought off his opponent's in their hundreds with just a baseball bat. With each change in story, he bought a drink and guzzler it down. He felt he had been lucky and all the commanders of the Black Lagoon was dead. To him, that meant that only he had access to the wealth of the Black Lagoon. He was going to cart away their riches and relocate to a quiet island, if possible buy the island and fortify it against intruders.Across the bar, a lady
By day, Aiden was the Chairman of Revenmar groups, breaking barriers and making waves in every industry they had projects in. He attended meetings and travelled to visit dignitaries who shouwed prospects of becoming investors.By night, he wrecked terror upon mafia families. Being the considerate and kind man that he was, he spared the innocent wives and children. Before staging an attack, he had his men do a thorough research about the family they were to attack. The punishments metted out was dependent on the gravity of their offences. Aiden was the judge and executioner. He understood that no mafia family was good, not even his but there were crimes he couldbt tolerate like human trafficking, rape, drug trafficking and reckless murders. Hence the research before attacking. It got so remarkable that crime rates reduced not only in Canada but also in other parts of the world. No government could pinpoint how the crime rate kept reducing drastically. Fear of the Naitatu plagued the hea

Early the next morning, even before the birds started chirping, Aiden was up and ready for his travel. He waited in the dark for the telltale sound of his chopper. At exactly 7 am, he heard the sound of the blades beating against the wind. Aiden had packed an overnight bag because he planned to stay till the next day. He vowed to uncover everything and every mystery that shrouded his early years and his father's past.Aiden made his way to the top of his building, using the stairs discreetly placed in his walk-in closet. He shouldered the door leading to the roof opened and stepped iut. His bag slung over his shoulder.Eduard stood there with three of his men. The moment he sighted his boss, he made to collect Aiden's bag which he refused with a shake of his head.A pilot sat in the cockpit. "How long is this flight going to be?" Aiden asked Eduard. He had chosen to travel early to avoid any delays on the way."It will take 6 hours sir. We will also have to touch base every two hours
The air was heavy with unspoken words as Aiden sat across from his grandfather, a palpable tension hanging between them. The room felt smaller, suffocating, as he gathered his courage to voice the question that had lingered in his heart for years. This was a few days after his eventual discharge from the hospital. Liam's trial had been swift because they had his confession. Every member of the Chrysanthemums Operation had been apprehended, facing different term sentences in prison. Gossamer shut down as news traveled far, causing its investors to pull out swiftly.Liam had been put on death parole, Aiden ensuring that his death happened sooner than later. The closure of Gossamer shot Revenmar to the top of the list of technology titans worldwide. It filled Aiden with pride as he was a core factor in making all these happen. After a few days of recuperating, Aiden resumed as the Chairman of the Revenmar Group of Companies unrivaled.Harris Revenmar had processed the release of Adam fro
Aiden's eyelids fluttered, and the world gradually swam into focus. The sterile scent of the hospital room filled his nose, and the soft beep of machines provided a rhythmic background to his returning consciousness. The events leading up to his current state seemed distant and fragmented, like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle he was struggling to put together. As his vision cleared, he found his grandfather sitting by his bedside. A smile stretched Aiden's face. Movements caused his grandfather to look up from his book, his eyes filled with relief as he saw Aiden waking up. With a steady hand, he reached out and pressed the call bell above Aiden's bed."I'm so glad you are awake. Oh, I have been worried sick about you! The doctors said your chances of survival were slim, but I was certain that the boy I and your ma raised was stronger than that."Within moments, the door swung open, revealing a trio of medical personnel entering the room. They wore matching white coats, their expressions, a
By nightfall, a majority of the attendees had left, ensuring to show their gratitude to their hosts as they went.Trisha and Aiden stood by the door, shaking hands or blowing air kisses as people left. The Chairman was by the side, speaking to some of the board of directors present.Trisha watched Aiden with concern in her eyes, mouthing her words. she asked if he was fine, to which he nodded in the affirmative. He still looked clean, untouched, his outfit without creases. Their aunt, Getrude, waltzed towards the door, her girls in tow."It was a pleasant evening! Although I must say my brother didn't train that boy right. Should have put him to the whip to beat out that nonsense entitlement from him instead, what does he do? Encourage the brat."Her girls looked uncomfortable behind her as she droned on. Aiden tuned out her voice, only nodding when it seemed like she needed him to.Thankfully, Faith pulls her mom forward. "Let's go, ma. There is a line behind you." Aidrn sent her a g
