Michael’s POV

The drive back to the office took a longer time than it did at the first trip. I was completely engrossed in trying to crack open the mystery and get the puzzles fixed that I got lost in thoughts a lot of times. I almost caused an accident and it triggered me to remember Olivia and her mother, Lucille.

Where are they? What are they running from? What did they have to hide that they couldn’t possibly share with the saviour of their lives? I kept on wondering why someone would be so inconsiderate as to run away from her own savior over a mere question and answer session. Was she scared of me? That couldn’t be the case.

Come to think of it, her furniture had been top class yet her house itself was tattered and poverty stricken, totally nothing to write home about. She had hidden her husband’s picture frame behind the television, thereby meaning that he was a somewhat useful asset in her life that she wasn’t ready to dispose of. Was he one of the known ruthless mafia boss

Michael’s POV Barb walked into my office exactly five minutes after our chat. I had been processing the crime scene in my head while I waited for him. The door flung open and Barb stood at its threshold with his best device in hand. “Come on in. Shut the door firmly behind you” He did as I instructed, taking a seat beside mine. With a reflex action, his arm muscle contracted and flipped the laptop open. He navigated through the system and opened a video before pushing the laptop closer to me. “What is this?” I couldn’t properly point out what was playing in the video because of its dark background “I had previously saved the evidence Ayla got from Pablo on my system and was scanning through it to check for any detail I might have missed from the first check. That was how I stumbled on this CCTV footage” “From Pablo?” I was surprised and confused at the same time. I had not noticed a footage like that while running the first check but it was pretty easy to toss aside since one wa

Michael’s POV My feet hurt from having stood at the rocky landscape for a long time and I was more than relieved to see Barb and Ayla’s forthcoming stillouette. “It took you this long to get here?”I lashed in frustration as they got closer. I noticed the sudden change of Ayla’s smiling face to a rather sullen one at my words and I forcefully pushed away the prick that caused me within. “I had to set things straight in the office before I could get another space to myself” She added with a thin voice, bashing her lashes to say she was sorry. I turned to Barb and gestured the way to the cathedral. “Shall we then?” We were going have a final search through the cathedral and trying unlocking the only locked door in it using a master key that Barb had been able to get a hold of. The other door led to empty room that held no sign of inhabitation for at least two decades and I couldn’t help the nostalgic feeling that tugged at my side as we moved further into the church building. Michael’s POV My eyes widened in astonishment, I have been getting a lot of surprises lately both in the good and bad. I turned to look at Ayla and noticed her forlorn look, she hadn’t caught on with Barb’s words. “Did she spill any clue that could help us in finding Lucille’s present abode?” “No. She claimed not to have the slightest idea about that” Ayla shook her head, staring intensely at me. I had an idea what she was awaiting. A compliment, which I was not ready to give. Her eyes laid heavily on me, watching me in cold wait for a romantic appreciation. I sighed and looked at her, exchanging eye contact this time. “Thanks for a job well done Ayla” I managed to spit out. Her eyes lit up as joy spread through her lens like a molten hot fire and her lips dissolved from a pout into a smile. It caught me and I knew I was falling in a direction that I should not. A path I must not tour as it stands now. My heart was gradually getting chained to a helpless feeling of affection th

Michael’s POV I had barely settled in my office when Joy reported that the Forensic Science were done with their testing. The documents now splayed across my desk made me feel nauseous, if the testing results were of any use to me then I might be on my way to rebuilding the Vikings and conquering Pablo. With a motivated sigh, my hands moved and worked on the documents. Pulling them from each other into single units. They had run five tests in total with the blood sample they had managed to collect from the crime scene. I picked them one after another unable to adequately pinpoint what they meant due to the terms used but one thing was clear. At the bottom of the paper, it read; ‘No previous matches.' I was in a daze, I didn’t quite understand what it meant but I hoped it . Just then a knock on the door got me started on my feet. I let the forensic agent in and took my fear eager as ever to hear what he had to say. He was to brief me on the important parts of the document that may

Pablo’s POV Her lips smacked on mine, pushing her tongue into the hollow of my mouth. Her fingers disappeared under my loose towel to my nether regions. She was doing trying hard to please but it wasn’t working. I pushed her back, holding firmly to her waist. “What’s up? Aren’t you enjoying this? You said you love my touch and the feel of my fingers on your skin leaves you with a shuddering sensation.” “I need a break Kathie. It’s not working. I’ll take a smoke outside, you better get some sleep” “Uhhhh, what’s the problem with you? You are not pleased with me? So what, you wanna go have it with a slut outside!” she grunted and yelled as I pushed her body off mine. I didn’t reply her, all I could think of Don, Smith has not gotten back to me about the case. It should only take him a day to track down Don but he wasn’t getting back. Scott hasn’t come with an update either. I pulled out a stick of my favorite cigarette and lit it, adjusting my towel firmly round my waist. The earl

  • Honor In Vengeance    Chapter 54

Michael‘s POV It is often believed that coincidence happen but I am not much of a coincidence believer but I accept it now. How else would you explain two situations that have similar characteristics and which are both very essential to one another occurring at the same time to aid the effectiveness of the other. My directly senior detective was a stout man in his late forties who was overly obsessed with his twin daughters, age five and never ceased to inform me about how they enjoyed watching girly cartoons but would always sit patiently as he watched his football match or late night news, how they would crowd the kitchen trying to help their mother do the dishes or help with the cooking. He would constantly fawn over them as ants to a summer meal. He had been in the Investigation Department for half of his life and he was willing than ever to pass on his legacy to me as je claimed to need more free time to spend with his cuties. On arriving on his office, I met him on a video c

  • Honor In Vengeance    Chapter 55

Michael’s POV Words are sometimes futile in expressing how one feels. Right now, I have mixed feelings not knowing if I am worried about who this Don might be, scared to find out it is someone totally different from who I have in mind or happy that I am close to finding out the truth behind an important case. My car screeched to a stop on the tarred road just outside the building, a branch of Internal Affairs that deals with recording of death and birth of the inhabitants of the city. I stared at the case file in my hand and got out of my car. The case was about three siblings; the younger had killed the older to get his trust funds only to get killed while in prison. He was getting a life sentence yet someone had sneaked in to have his head. Who? His younger brother, the last of the three. What do I need to find? The forged death certificate of the suspect, to find out who his supposed next of kin is. “Good morning sir. How may I help you?” “Detective Hastings” I show

  • Honor In Vengeance    Chapter 56

Michael’s POV At the rear end of the document was a signed next of kin and it read; Nathan Wellman. My eyes rounded in surprise, was this some kind of trick? Nathan Wellman was a Viking brother, one of the brothers that lived in the villa along with Torrance, Drico and Landon. “I have downloaded it successfully. You should get out of there now.” I couldn’t bring myself to get up instead I kept on staring at the screen. “Mich, are you still there?” “Barb, briefly scan through the document. I think I saw wrong?” “What’s it about” a pause over his end before he replied; “Wow, that’s coming as a shock but we expected something like that, didn’t we?” I gulped my saliva and hurried shut down the page before locking the computer. I picked up the case file I had come with and walked out to the elevator. Was Torrance aware that his brothers disguised their own as dead? Were they really so bitter as to keep their brother a secret while pushing me to find him? My memory was distorted, wer

Ayla’s POV “Get her out, now.” Shuffling feet approaching got my eyes opened again. I had barely slept, maybe just dozed off a bit. A man towered over me, looking straight in the eye before leaning down to pull me up. “What are you doing?” I struggled against his sinew arms on mine “Let go.” He suddenly let go and I fell to the bed with a thud. “Get up and get out.” “What is this? Who are you anyway?” I glared at the ma from before that instructed me to eat and then leave. Was he the one who saved me from Pablo? Why then was he acting so strange? “Get her out then.” He turned to leave as he ordered the same man again. “Wait.” I got down hastily from the bed, my feet almost tangled in the sheets before reaching him. “Do on touch, talk from a distance.” His voice was ice cold and I wondered why he saved me when he was just going to be so rude and throw me out again. “Who are you?” “What sort of a ridiculous question is that? After latching so tightly to me, I expect you would

    Chapter 92

Ayla’s POV Where was I? I could barely remember anything, my memory took a pause at the time I was saved by an unknown man from Pablo and my head ached from trying to recall what had happened after that. I tried to get up but my limbs were weak, it was like I had been sedated and I could barely control my body to move. I opened my eyes to a luxurious view of dropping chandelier of rather expensive cut. Where was I? I tried turning my head to look around and I noticed that it was definitely not my room and definitely not Michael’s, so I was not anywhere near home. Was I kidnapped? That was very unlikely because I felt way too comfortable in the feather like bed to have actually been kidnapped. “It is about time you woke up. After ruining my evening and scattering my plans you do not deserve any more sleep than you have already gotten.” A thick voice welcomed me followed by a handsome man with muscular build. He did not look familiar in any way but his facial features made my head ac

Pablo’s POV There was still no call from Gunner, nothing to indicate that he had survived but I was sure he had. He has faced worse and he conquered them all. An abrupt shooting spree was nothing he could not handle. I just needed to focus and keep my head in the game. Smith pushed the steel doors open and walked in sluggishly, panting heavily before flat of an armless sofa. He was too weak to be of any use to me, he was just a waste of space but I needed bait, a worm to catch the stubborn fish from the water and he seemed like the only willful option if he would agree. “Smith, come over.” I ordered and watched him sluggishly drag himself off the chair and shuttle towards me. “We need to get them to come after me again. You are gonna be the bait and you ain’t gonna complain or say a word out of the context, here or there.” “A bait? That will not be possible. I cannot be a part of your bullshit plan to sabotage innocent lives.” He yelled back at me, suddenly revitalized “They are

Ayla's POV He seriously only thought about himself and he even had the guts to admit it so blatantly. I hate him so much, so fucking much. What does he take me for anyway? Keeping me in the dark is going to keep me safe, total bullshit. Pablo will still come for me, I have heard of his numerous killing escapades and he is definitely not going to let me be if he realizes I am still alive. There's only one way to it; though two actually I choose the one that helps me show Michael just how ruthless I can be. He thinks I am just a little girl that he can toss around well he will just have to see, the hard way, that I can survive in the wild. "Ayla, there you are. Michael came looking for you...What happened?" My mother ranted off, immediately I walked in I stomped off from her presence and shut the door to my room. "I am going to show you Michael, that I can do just what you are doing." I vented out my anger, tossing some needed clothes and accessories into my bag. I arranged a boot

    Chapter 89

Pablo’s POV“Take him down, gunner!” I yelled. It was a raid, a bloody raid that I had not seen coming and it was not Torrance this time, the Vikings never worked like this. They were always to afraid to take a bold move, not to talk of a move as daring as this one.I could not wait for his response neither could I see him finish off the intruder, he would report himself to me. I shielded myself out, the intruder had used a Sub machine Gun and while his attacks were not directed at a particular target, he just shot as much as he could, all round.I passed through the back door, using the stair way that led to an empty underground garage. I got into my car and drove back home. On my way out, I saw the bodies of my soldiers lying outside the warehouse. The intruder had killed them all silently and it had happened during the call. They plan to take Kathie, get their friend and keep me on the losing end. This was not the work of the Vikings, they definitely had a greater help else, they w

    Chapter 88

Ayla’s POV He was a lunatic. How could he even think of cutting off my limbs to send to my parents? I did not even want them getting involved in this because of my disobedience. “You cannot try it. Smith will not allow it.” I yelled at him, trying to conceal my emotions. He burst out in a maniac laugh, lolling his head back and forth continuously. “You are really feisty. I like that. But I’d like to see Smith try. Gunner, hit her up.” He stared at me and took a sip of his drink, then a long drag to take it down. The heavily built man that had kidnapped me earlier walked towards me, swinging a mallet as he closed the gap between us. I shook in fear, and almost peed on myself when a phone rang in a distance. It sounded so distinct as I could only hear Gunner’s footsteps approaching me. Suddenly, he paused and walked over to Pablo; “Torrance.” He simply said to Pablo, who collected the phone and answered the call. It was a video call.Pablo’s POV“Perfect timing, I was just about

    Chapter 87

Michael’s POV I knew something was off. I felt it all the way to her house and at her mother’s words I began to panic but I tried as much as I could to swallow it and showed her a smile. "I really wanted to see her to clear some things up but it's fine, I will just come back later." I turned and left before she would make me say any other thing; I was worried that I might scare her, over something that might not even be true. I needed to see Donovan and Anurag to set out how we would protect our loved ones. Ayla mustn't suffer because of me. Pablo was too heartless to care about other people's life; he would gladly take their lives if they got in his way or tried to show authority, classic traits of a mafia boss. I drove to the cathedral and to my surprise; I met all the Viking brothers who had lived together in the Villa, along with their wives and children. They were really in danger, for them to have left their luxurious and comfortable home to an old cathedral with nothing val

    Chapter 86

Michael’s POV The weekend ran fast with couple plates of lovely dishes, hours beside my pool and some few minutes of going through my set out plan, and then I was soon turning my tie to the rhythm of work blues. I was going to have a splendid time at work, packing my few personal belongings from my office back to my home, there wasn’t much there anyway. A day to resign officially; Miss Sarah was bound to ask me the reason for such sudden decision and I had not made up my mind on what to tell her. I whistled a tune to match my mood as I tightened the tie around my neck. I put on my suit and bent to pick my shoes from its rack. I noticed a paper under the bed; it was crumpled and as I pulled up the folded parts I saw that it was dirty and a little soft where it had gone damp. I read the content; it was a quick sketch of my findings from the beginning of the search on the Viking’s case right up until now. Had I squeezed it like this? Even if I did, I would not have thrown under the bed

    Chapter 85

Michael’s POV I was mapping out our plan for a successful victory. We need to infiltrate the Mafian cycle to conquer this battle once and for all. Scott was Pablo’s consigliere, who was more like his underboss as Smith was nothing to write home about. He had not contributed to the first Viking/Mafian war and he has certainly not helped in the course of Pablo’s reign. Pablo was soon to resign from his position but Smith was less of a Mafia boss material. Hence to cut down Pablo’s wings of authority, Scott was the first target, he needed to be done away with in order to over throne Pablo from his well known game. Donovan had said something about hitting Pablo where it would hurt already. Was Scott the part that would hurt? If so, then it was a smart decision. Scott would need to be taken down first in order to win this fight, as Scott’s absence (death) would make Pablo limp in a foot. Pablo ran a Mafian household that was not necessarily connected by blood or marriage. Scott was not
