When I went to the classroom, I attracted the looks of my classmates. Trying my best to ignore them, I got through the day.
I was walking home. Even while walking, I attracted the attention of the passerby. I touched the bandage on my face.
- Suddenly, the hair on my neck stood on end.
“The pain has subsided,” I muttered to myself.
It will probably heal within a week though I am worried about whether it would leave a scar or not. The wound wasn’t that deep but it wasn’t that light as well. I ended up losing consciousness after all.
After Tanaka flew from the scene, the guards who came running after hearing the commotion took me to a nearby clinic where my wounds were treated.
They asked me how I got those injuries and about the commotion they heard. But, I lied and said that I was feeling dizzy and when I fell down face-first after losing my consciousness, I got the injury. The guards looked doubtful of my ex
I took the stairs and reached my floor. I inserted the key card and opened the door. I looked around inside the room. There was no one inside. I slowly walked to the sofa. There was no one sitting on the sofa. I placed my bag there. I was feeling thirsty. Taking stairs to reach the fourteenth floor in this heat had drained me of water and energy. I went to the kitchen, opened the fridge, and took out a canned drink. The can was cold to the touch. I placed the can against my neck and the coldness cooled off my brain and body. I pried open the can with a plop sound and gulped it down entirely. “Kage.” Did I just hear someone call my name? Inside my room? There was no one inside this room so no way anyone will call my name. “Auditory hallucinations.” Maybe the scorching heat was the reason for this. I need to be careful and not let the heat affect me. Someone poked my shoulders from behind. Did I just feel someone touching me? Inside my room? There was no one inside this room
“Kageyama-kun?”Her eyes wandered wildly inside her socket as if she were a skeleton. She looked at me, my hand, and the room again and again, frequently and rapidly.“What is this…?”Even though the scene was laid right in front of her, she wasn’t able to comprehend it. She couldn’t understand what could have caused such havoc, such destruction. It could only have been a monster.I – the monster who had ravaged this room – smiled at the unexpected visitor. “Oh, Nakamura. Did you have dinner? If not, how about eating together with me?”I jumped a little to clear the broken furniture in front. As I landed safely, Nakamura took two steps back. Did I do something? Puzzled, I looked at her. She was like a frightened little kitten. Shrinking away in fear while her eyes were fixed on my right hand. I followed her eyes and looked at my right hand as well.“Ah.”Then, I realized.“Sorry.”I threw the broken glass I had in my hand. As it made contact with the floor, it shattered into pieces a
“I don’t like this.”This place that reeks of that woman and her deeds. This place. Full of nothing but whites. I don’t like this. It is in stark contrast to what I am; full of darkness. Pitch black. Being in the hospital makes me realize the difference between me and the world. And although we are complete opposites, I always find myself in this room.“Opposites attract, huh?”I slowly got up from the bed, supporting my weight with my hand.As I tried to sit upright, a pain shot up from my lower abdomen region. I raised the somewhat blue and somewhat green-looking hospital dress for the patients and looked at the source of the pain.“This looks bad.”There was a thick layer of bandage wrapped all over and traces of numerous cuts could be seen here and there. I looked around my body and found that many places in my body were wrapped in bandages. “This is worsening.”After every visit to the hospital, the graveness of my wounds and injuries keeps on getting worse. “Maybe I will die i
My eyelids felt heavy. I had difficulty opening them. With much effort, I managed to half-open my eyes. There was a silhouette in front of me. The silhouette of a woman. No. On closer look, it was a girl. That silhouette felt familiar. I closed my eyes and blinking twice I tried opening them again. “Oh, did I wake you?” “Naka…mura…?” My voice sounded somewhat off and hoarser than usual. I slightly pushed my body up to see her clearly. Nakamura had a knife in her right hand and in her left hand was an apple. I tried getting up but my body felt weak and somehow my body seemed like it didn’t want to get out of the bed as of now. I moved my head around and saw the clock on the right wall of the room. The time it indicated was 6 pm. That nurse came at around 12 pm and after she left I don’t remember anything that happened. And judging by the current state of my body, it seems like I fell asleep after that. That means I slept for about six hours. That was quite long for me. “You
Two weeks later, I was discharged from the hospital.I had been worried that that woman might visit me but thanks to god I didn’t encounter her. So, although the stay this time in the hospital was long, it wasn’t unpleasant by any means. I stayed in bed all day and all night without doing anything at all. My food was served on the bed and I got to taste Nakamura’s homemade food as well. They were all delicious. And! The most amazing part! I got to read books all the time! In these two weeks, I finished all thirty-two volumes of the ‘Irregular at the Magic Highschool’. Quite a feat if I say so myself.Well, the point is that I won’t be able to continue this life of luxury from now on.Thinking about that soured my mood. However, there was another matter that soured my mood even more. That was the upcoming term examinations. I had missed two weeks’ worth of classes because of my injury and as a result, was quite behind the others. Though I won’t have trouble reading all of that, when I
“Sorry for the wait,” Aina said, as she reached the school entrance. “No. I didn’t wait that long.” The blonde-haired boy gave his reply, accompanied by a smile. “Then, shall we go?” “Yes.” The two of them then took off together. It had been more than a month since the two of them had started dating. Because of their personal problems and the busy schedule due to work from the student council, the two of them didn’t have many chances to hang out together. That was why they had decided that they will go on a date after school today. It’s not that the two of them were excited and wanted to go on a date together. Since they hadn’t gotten much time to understand and grow closer to each other, they decided on today’s date with that purpose in mind. As they continued walking, Aina noticed that the passersby were looking their way. Aina knew the reason why. It may seem like she is boasting but Aina knew that she was beautiful. With her tall and slender figure, long brown hair, and h
In a café in the busy city of Shibuya, three people were enjoying their drinks in silence while watching the outside world rush past.Among the three, one of them was a teenager. She was wearing a skirt with alternate blue and white lines running down that had a long flowy tail on the back end while it ended short on her knees at the front. Paired with flat, brown sandals, it gave her a simple but beautiful look.Right in front of her was a man in his forties. With a plain white t-shirt and a simple pair of blue jeans, he was the embodiment of simplicity but his handsome features made even those simple clothes seem like something valuable. On his left was a woman. Similar in age to the man. She was wearing a dress similar to that of the teenage girl but it was a bit mature with the color selection being black and the front part a bit more open. Although the woman was in her early forties, her looks and sharp eyes made her look somewhere in her early thirties. The man put the cup in hi
The exams were over and today was the day we will be heading to Kyoto for our week-long trip. You may all be thinking how amazing it was that we get to enjoy a week-long holiday but the reality is different from what you think. This trip is not just for the purpose of having fun but also for study purposes. From what Maki told us, it’s more like a joint camp where students from different schools come together and have a study exchange of sorts. And in between that study camp, we will get to visit different places in Kyoto. However, the study camp was only for us third-year students. The second and first-year students will come four days after we go, only to have fun.“Lucky them.” I cursed aloud as I made my way to the school with all the study materials and change of clothes and other necessary items I will need for the stay arranged messily inside my bag. When I reached the school, other students were already filling in the bus. And seems like I was the last one to arrive.Well, the
