Kevin saw his life flash before his eyes as the car crashed hard and loudly on the strong stem of the tree, pushing them forward and hitting their heads on the car seats. A sense of dread had completely taken hold of him, thinking they were going to die. Luckily they weren't. They were okay but weren't spared cuts and bruises.Kevin pushed the car door open and came out with Darrin. He was rubbing his head which had hit the front seat as a result of the bumpings. Lisa and Darrin had bruises on their foreheads too.Kevin's head snapped to the road for fear of the blue car. The road was devoid of any vehicles. The car must have gone after accomplishing its mission.Shifting his gaze from the road, he examined the car. The front was badly crushed and smoke hissed out of the engine. Looks like they won't be using it anytime soon."Ouch. That looks bad." Darrin remarked, referring to the car. "Yeah. Looks like we are going to be stuck here for a while." Lisa added.Kevin's eyes scanned aro
Darrin charged and swung his sword at Mabel's head. Mabel bent her neck avoiding the sword blade as it swung above her head. Raising her neck quickly, she slashed her ice sword at Darrin who deflected it, the clashing of metal and ice echoing in the forest. His sword nearly slipped out of his hand due to the forceful impact and he jumped back. Darrin realized that Mabel had knowledge of sword fighting. Most demons usually depend on their powers. More determined to win this fight, he tightened his grip on the sword hilt and attacked. They started slashing their swords at each other, taking turns in attacking and defending. Darrin swung his sword at her when he found the chance and blocked Mabel's when necessary. He had initially thought that the ice sword would have shattered after he had hit several times but it hasn't and he had already attacked more than ten times. This won't be easy.Darrin flung his sword at her and Mabel parried it with hers, raising Darrin's sword in midair in
The scent of iodoform evaded Kevin's nose as his mind awakened from unconsciousness. He recognized the smell as the scent of a hospital. His eyelids separated slowly and closed back immediately as white light nearly blinded him. Using his hand to block the light rays, he opened his eyes and blinked speedily to unblur his eyesight. He was in some kind of hospital ward. The window panes were closed, so the only source of light was the white light bulb. Almost everything in the ward was white including the walls, ceiling, bed he was lying on, first aid box attached to the wall and the white cupboard next to a white table that had a sterilizer on it. Next to the bed stood an unactivated heart monitor. Everywhere was too quiet which made Kevin wonder if he was the only one in the hospital. Weird!Kevin looked around swiftly sitting up. There was a white chair behind a brown table near the door and seated on it was Darrin. He had different clothes on him whereas Kevin still has his last ni
"Well Kevin, what if I told you that demons do exist."He furrowed his brows. "What kind are we talking about here? The dark side of a person or...." "Dark creatures."‘What!’, was all Kevin could think of. When she said she will explain everything to him, Kevin never expected demons to be mentioned."Wait, you mean there are dark creatures on Earth?" "Yup." Kevin was about to laugh hysterically before she added. "You saw one yesterday."He closed his mouth instantly. He had wanted to laugh at that. Demons? Come on. But thinking about last night gave him chills.Mabel was actually a demon, not an alien?Demons are real?"I'll appreciate it if you explain more." He said as his confusion increased."Demons are creatures created from dark magic and they've lived on earth for so long, reproducing and preserving their bloodline. You can find demons in all parts of the world." Kevin's eyes widened in astonishment. "All parts of the world? Then why isn't something being done about this? W
Kevin walked into the hospital ward where his mother was receiving treatment. He found her seated on the bed, her eyes looking sleepy. "Mum." Kevin exclaimed and rushed to her. "I'm glad you are awake. Are you feeling okay?"Lisa smiled at her son. "Yes dear, I'm fine. Thank you." She rubbed his brown hair. "I'm sorry. It's my fault you got hurt." "No need to apologize. I can do anything for you." "But you shouldn't have done that." "You think I will just stay and watch you get hurt? No true mother will do that. Don't worry. I'm stronger than you think." "Thanks mum. I love you." He hugged her. The door opened as Hildegard and the nurse walked in, the nurse holding a glass of water."Have this ma'am." She handed it to Lisa. "Thank you." Lisa appreciated and emptied the glass with a slurp."Mrs Jones." Hildegard said. "Glad you are alright now. I am Hildegard." "Hello." She replied."After you've taken your rest, I would like us to proceed with the registration." Lisa faced Ke
Darrin was appalled when he heard Kevin's exclamation. He stared at the man and creased his brows. Didn't Kevin say his father was dead?Kevin couldn't believe his eyes at this very moment. His father was alive all these while? He had lived for sixteen years believing his father was dead, but here he was, alive and healthy. "Dad? Is this really you?" Kevin asked, on the verge of tears of joy. He was about to run and squeeze him in a hug before the man dropped a bombshell. "Um, I'm not your father." Kevin scowled, feeling confused. What did he mean by that? He compared the man before him with his father's pictures in his mind. They looked exactly the same. So, what was he saying? "What do you mean? You are my father." He said. The man chuckled lightly. "Let's not mix things up here Kevin. I'm not your father." Kevin was about to yell in disagreement before he added. "I'm your father's twin brother, Leo." Kevin's mouth became agape. He couldn't believe it. His father had a twin bro
For a minute, Kevin was dumbstruck by the wonderful sight of the living room. The interior was more beautiful than the exterior. The first thing he felt was the cool air from the air conditioner. Then his eyes fixated on the grandiose sparkling chandelier and colorful bulbs on the clean white ceiling. The floor was tiled with marble that glimmered as it reflected light. If he had known they had such a beautiful floor he would have walked in barefooted to avoid staining it.Gray couches of different sizes arranged in a square order without one side, furnished the living room. A center table made out of glass and brown clean wood stood at the center of the square. It had a little flower vase on it. On the wall facing the couch, a big television that nearly occupied the whole of the wall was stationed, connected to circuits. But it was switched off at the moment. In a corner of the house was a bar with a large refrigerator with a transparent door. Kevin could see varieties of wines, bee
The chairs of the dining table were occupied by the children of the Jones family. Some were teens while the others were tweens and kids. The dominant hair color of the people was brown while some others had black or blond hair. They all stared at Kevin as he descended the stairs with Finn. Kevin could feel a lump in his throat, feeling uneasy with the stares. Different negative thoughts ran through his mind. Will they like him? What if they don't? They kept their eyes glued to Kevin until he reached the table. His hands felt clammy. "Would you guys stop staring? It's creepy." Finn glared at them, sensing Kevin's nervousness. "Having one of you around is a problem already. Now there are two of you? I'm gonna go crazy." A mischievous-looking boy commented. He must be the same age as Kevin."Yeah, watch out Connor. You are gonna go insane." Finn conceded. The boy rolled his eyes. "Ignore him." Finn wavered his hand. "Anyway Kevin. These are the children of the Jones family. I'll intr
