Chapter 20 Reply

After finishing my business with Foreman Jack, I went to visit a place that was important to me. The journey was quite time-consuming, as the place I wanted to visit was in a remote area.

It took me about three hours to get there. I stopped in front of a half-open fence. The children playing in the yard stopped and turned to me. They were whispering to each other as they looked at me.

I smiled slightly as I remembered that I had once been like them. We asked each other about the person who had come and what they had brought for us.

I got off the motorbike and walked through the rusty fence, most of the paint peeling off. I stopped in front of a boy, about seven years old, and crouched down in front of him.

"What's your name?" I asked the frightened-looking boy.

"William," he replied briefly. He took a step back and hid behind the shoulder of a friend who was taller than him.

"Michele! Bring your younger siblings inside! It is late afternoon, and it is getting cold." A woman's shouting
