The first thing Adam did was close his eyes, trying to focus the complete use of every perceptive ability he had which were the usual human ability of perception except enhanced way beyond average. For whatever reason Adam seemed to be slightly different from the other enhanced trainees of both levels in terms of his enhancement as the others aren't able to perceive things as proficiently as he could.

Speculation is that it involves something to do with what happened to him as a kid, in the incident which he lost both his parent to and there was a slight alteration in his body's chemistry ever since then like something during that occasion had caused it to "awaken" ever so slightly and that little change later on affected how his body responded to the enhancement procedure.
