"Writers are the rulers of this world. They are known as Destiny's instruments in the directing of lives. But even destiny has an end. It has always had an end. No matter how powerful it is, it has never gone beyond the boundaries of Death. But the question nobody ever wants to ask is this: What happens after death? This is an age-old nearly forgotten yet frequently asked question. Many Writers are also not very familiar with the happenings of the nether. But one thing is for sure and that is that It is a terrible place, even for Writers." Lydia explained.
Meanwhile, Esther's pen floated before her and as she held it in-between her fingers, her eyes remained fixed on the Evil demon before her.
"Hmmm! Lady Esther of House Thembeka. Are you sure you really want to do this? I mean, do it here and now. If I am not mistaken, you just had a battle earlier on, also you used a significant amount of your remaining strength to perform that show earlier on."
As he talked, He spread his arms open, and black miasma slowly flowed out. It revolved around him.
"Do you know something very interesting, Lady Esther, of House Thembeka?"
Esther's eyes did not leave him.
"It is that, If we were any place else, I mean absolutely anywhere out in the cosmos, even If you are tired, dying, and looking helpless, I wouldn't even dare what I am about to at the moment. And that is because I know The kind of damage a Writer can truly inflict. But as it is, We are in the central mesis humus. A foolish person would be inclined to think that you have the advantage. But I know better."
"What do you mean?" Esther asked.
"I know. I am aware."
"Aware of what?"
"Oh, I am sure you can guess. You see I know the location of a royal rune. I know it is here in the central Mesis humus. I also know what abilities it possesses. I know about the Limitation Rune."
The moment he said that Esther immediately attacked.
"Rain spears!
Water spears formed from the runes that her quill pen drew out with speed and fell straight for the Evil Demon.
But the Demon did not so much as take a step back. All it did was raise a hand as the water spears reached him, and they were dissolved.
"Seriously! Elemental Runes. I am sure you know more than anyone how fruitless these things are on my kind.
"That Was my last warning. Next time, I won't go so easy."
"Really!? Now I am really interested in what you are going to do." The Evil demon shot forward for her like an arrow from a bow. But Esther was already ready for it. unlike expected, she did not use elemental runes.
Instead, she used primary runes as a shield before her with one hand, While her other hand had weaved runes into a spear.
She defended with one hand and attacked with the other. However, when she attacked, the Evil demon did not even defend and it allowed the spear to reach.
This she was not expecting, nevertheless, she took the advantage and pushed the spear in. However, as it reached, it did not feel like she thought it would. And then she saw it and her eyes widened in surprise.
The spear seemed to have dissolved in thin air as it touched the body of the Evil Demon.
For a moment there she actually stopped in her attack. She could not believe what she was seeing at all.
"You see! I told you. Here, you are too weak." The Evil demon slammed her away with a hand. She flew in the distance and hit hard the Atlas fist tower.
He flew slowly towards her. "You writers think you are so smart and gifted. And honestly, we of the nether would have been relegated to believe that we were unloved of the cosmos. But we thank the nether stars for the gift of mother to us. She has opened up our eyes, and now we know."
As the evil demon spoke, dark miasma flowed out of its body and held Esther by her neck.
"I told you that we know. We know want your own Royal rune does to you."
Although she could not see its face. But at the moment, she had a feeling that she had a smile on.
"I am going to make this easy for you. Believe it or not, I do not want to be here anymore than you want me to. After all, I just had a fill of fresh demented souls and so I am in a good mood. I traced the aura of a particular Writer here. He has something Mother wants. A particular disobedient servant if you will. Now! If you can be so kind as to point me in the direction he is hiding, I will be on my merry way."
Esther's thoughts went wild. She thought to the past-out Derek. She did not know what an Evil Demon wanted to do with Derek. But she felt the instinctive need to protect a person in her household from danger. Writers were like this. Very protective of their own.
To top it all off, Derek was the chosen Repono by Endurance. And with what she had seen, he was a man of great potential. She had seen him, who was but of the third rank of the Whisperer level make a mortal a Familier. This was a feat that had never been achieved before. And this she was sure of with the hundreds of years of experience she had under her belt.
"I... I will tell you nothing vermin!" She barely talked through her choking neck.
"I know you think that I can't hurt you because of the treaty. But underestimating me would be a very terrible thing."
Just then, he sensed something. He immediately left her and rushed there.
A zodiac gate had just opened up in the distance.
"Madam Bastet! There is a signal from a node to enter the temple. From the readings, it seems to be from under the Atlantic ocean." An acolyte reported."Damn it! That must be Derek!" She rushed for the room Walter was receiving treatment. "How is he now?" She asked the acolyte treating him."He is better Madam. But he will be needing bed rest for a long time."Bed rest!?" We don't have time for that now."She grapped Walter by his shirt and pulled him from the bed. "Come on! I know you are not that weak. Derek is trying to reach the node. I'll need your help!"Immediately Walter heard this, his eyes shot opened as he pulled hard out of the bed."Lord Walter!" The acolyte wanted to say something but the look on walter's face stopped her."Rest can come later. I promised to help so I'll do it. Let's go!"Both of them rushed to the giant wheel. "Ready!?" Bastet asked and he nodded."Good! At the same time we going to change the nodes. Once they are inside, we'll change it back immediat
"Aesir!!! Where the freaking hell are we?" "I just said that I don't know." Aesir sighed. This was definitely the kind of reaction he was expecting. He too was like this on the day they arrived here."Sit! I said you should sit!" Aesir pat a spot close to him. Derek sat."Erm... As I was saying before you rudely interupted me, after the time you passed out, we took you into the ship in a hurry. We had gotten an unexpected guest. Lydia had called it an Evil Demon. But forget about him for now.""Why!?" Derek asked."Cause he isn't relevant to the story. Wait!" Aesir had a hand under his jaw."Now that think about it, he might actually have some relevance. However, we had opened a zodiac gate and it did not take us back to Bastet's temple. In my own guess, I think something went wrong.""Hold up! But how is that possible? A zodiac gate is supposed to take you to..." Derek trailed off in his speech as he remembered something very important. And then he came to a realization. It was pos
Derek did not know what was happening or why it was happening. But for some reason, he could not weave Runes. He tried hard but still could not weave Runes.Yet just a moment ago, he perfectly could. Now it felt like he was trying to lift a boulder of over a ton with the strength of an infant. The Snake immediately dived for him. "Shit!" Derek immediately dodged. Although he could temporary not use runes, He could still very well mold his aura appropriately.Just now he had used a movement skill that was thought to him by Hayaa.Flash pace...The Snake had come for a free meal but was surprised to see the tenacity Derek was putting up. It's body moved from one place to another in a futile attempt at catching Derek.Aeair on the other willed and his sword went ahead of him. Straight for the neck of the beast. Surprisingly, the snake dodged the attack in time. Aesir frowned. He already had a sheer amount of expensive in this field. The creatures in this place had far sharper senses tha
"Hayaa, what happened to you?" Derek asked as he drew closer to her. He cupped her face in in his palm."Oh, don't worry. I have been in a much worse state than this before. I'll get better soon enough. It's not me you should be worried about. But rather yourself."Derek did not understand. But then she pointed at the Soul rune in the distance. "Normally a ritual like the one we performed should not have happened. You were not supposed to perform such a thing with your current level. You were too weak.""I don't understand. What do you mean?" Hayaa, sighed. Explaining at the moment was tiring for her but then she knew that she had no choice."Certain changes occur once a writer reaches the Norminer stage. Certain changes that qualify for certain privileges.""Yeah! I am aware of that. Changes like the ability to control elemental runes. I am fully aware of that.""Hmmm! There is that. But that is not what I am talking about. I am talking about the ability to take in Familiars."Derek
Derek, Aesir and Gina ate to their fill, and soon enough, they fell asleep. They had even forgotten to keep someone to watch. However, just because no one was watching actively did not mean that they were vulnerable.Because of fear of an attack by those tiny creatures from the cave again, Aesir had suggested that they slept on high ground. At the moment several shadows had slowly surrounded their camp. Crawling their way up to the three sleeping. These shadows had different kinds of weapons in their hands. However, most of these weapons were made out of the bones of animals. These shadows came close enough. Some of them already had their weapons such as bone spears up high in an attacking position."NOW!!! Derek gave the signal and the three of them jumped up immediately and assaulted their ambushers.Although Derek could not use runes at the moment, it did not mean he was useless. In fact, uselessness was not a term one could uses to describe him.Just because he could not weave Ru
Derek ran as hard and fast as he could while Aesir covered his exit. However, with the weight of Gina now on his back, his speed had reduced significantly. And that was even with him barely activating his flash pace technique.Slowly, the wolves were gaining on them, and sure enough, one or two actually over took them and tried attacking from the front. Derek dived on the ground as dodged the attack of the beast. This was not because it would have caused him any harm. After all, he was a writer, and the amount of things that could harm him in the world were very few. He dodged because it was going to hinder the momentum he was using to progress forward.Aesir willed and his blade shot like a bullet through the air, cutting through the abdomen of the wild wolf.More and more wolves jumped in front to block their advance. Derek reached behind him. Pulling out one of Gina's swords from it's scabbard. He swong it left and right, making quick work of the wolves in front of him. Soon en
Soon enough, they were led to an underworld village. It was different here. This was clearly underground yet the atmosphere was condusive with a bit of chilly wind to add to the mix. The house were built inside the walls of the mountain and it made it look like holes on a bee hive. Caves littered as far as the eyes could see. As they progressed forward, members of the tribe came out to welcome them. Derek looked at a tribe of people that he had never seen or heard about ever before. They were all dressed partially naked. Infact, for the more younger ones, some were entirely naked. Derek suspected maybe it was as a result of the environment with lack of clothing materials or maybe it was just as a result of ease if movement. Some of the younger kids gathered around them put their hands in request. Derek did not know what they wanted and looked to Madeline for assistance."It is customary for guests to bring gifts." Madeline answered."Oh! Gifts. Sorry sports we don't really have
"And I say you are prisoners. My prisoners for breeding. Who are you, but a mere male to attempt to argue with me.?"Those words sounded like insane thunder inside Derek's head. He could not believe that this woman had just called him a mere male. Every testosterone in his body was currently angry at that statement. Those words also made Adria mad but he could see that Derek was soon about to lose his cool major time."Chief Lady, or whatever you call yourself, you will have to swallow back those words or forgive me, I will have to make you swallow them back myself.""Huh!" Madeline looked at Derek in surprise. She remembered she had signalled him to rebel not challenge the queen. Especially not in her own tuff."Guards!" The Red-painted faced woman called out and a bunch of women holding spears ran into the room with their bone spears aimed directly at Derek and his friends.Chief Sasha waved her hand, "Milan! You and your warriors may drop your spears.""But Mother!" She protested,
