From a young age, Anderson had always been treated with care, respect and even reverence. He could practically do all he wanted in this village of monopods. He lived the kind of life his pairs envied, getting whatsoever he wanted. He was like a prince here. But he knew that all that he had was from the hard-earned effort of his father.

It always thrilled him when the villagers sang praises of his father. I mean who wouldn't be proud to have a father that had fought for the freedom of his people from the Strangling cruelty of the Writer's fist. In fact, pride was the least of the things that he had for his ever hard-working father. A man that even daringly braved the human world to bring them the knowledge of electricity and climbed fast the ranks of the Grootslang in only a couple of years. The achievements under his father's belt were something that would take any monopod several of their short lifetimes to achieve and would still fall short.

As Anderson's eyes closed into the ill understanding of darkness, tears escaped his shut eyes. Farna immediately ran for her son. She could not believe how foolish this boy was. He had just allowed death through the front door. She held him in her hands as she looked sternly at the man that had given him a blow to the head. Aesir did not even care to mind the look on her face. He picked up the necklaces and them back in the centre of the rune. The foundational rune was made active again. But it could be as before. Two priests had made their way here. The people sitting and supplying a constant flow of aura had panicked in fear and most of them ran. It had taken Tiny and Lydia a considerable amount of effort to stop those running away. Tiny even had to threaten with death, but the fear of the priests approaching with bloody fists and weapons was a more convincing argument. Farna raised her head up from Anderson in her hands. She could clearly see in the distance as that pr

The entire fight was barely a few seconds but the Grootslang had just lost a Father rank. The momentum Derek started with had improved the morale of his teammates and despair to the enemy. That was a Father rank that Derek had played around with like was nothing. Although the others did not know, Derek was freaking out in his heart. That last attack the goat beastman had given was a scary one. Derek himself had even long forgotten that such attacks cannot go through his skin. After defeating the Father, he set his sight on the bear beastman that had killed Farna's son.The bear beastman priest saw this and immediately panicked for his life. He immediately retreated as Derek gave chase. Meanwhile, Aesir and Lydia flanked the other beastman priest on either side. Aesir with his short sword and Lydia with her two knives that she held invertedly. Aesir went for a sweep with his sword for the beastmans legs while Lydia for his head. The Priest looked at his two attack

The very flexible beastman must have dodged their combined attack, but they were far from done. Aesir used his left hand after the sweeping with his sword as a fulcrum which he used to flip in the air and his left leg delivered a kick that landed on the beastman's chest. This time around, the attack made home.Aesir was already regarded big by most, adding to the intense training that he had gotten from Bastet, his muscles were much slimmer and tighter. Not to forget that he also diverted the momentum from his slash into the kick that he just delivered, the actual result of that kick was supposed to be in the least a broken rib or two. However, that did not happen. Although the beastman was hurt, which was apparent from the trace of blood that escaped his mouth, it was not enough to render him out of the fight just yet.The beastman took several somersaults back. "Not bad, not bad kid. Am going to enjoy skinny you." He glared at Aesir as his hands reached for hi

"Please, spare me. I beg of you...No! NO!!!" The last beastman priest begged and screamed as he was torn to shreds. After his death, the giant cat turned to Lydia, bowed its head before disappearing. Aesir looked at the bloody mess of shredded flesh and bones Lydia had just caused and couldn't help but swallow a big ball of saliva. he made mental notes not to ever piss off this reincarnation of a hell hound.Aesir retracted his aura. He immediately felt like he was carrying a boulder of several hundred kilos instead of his body. His knees had given in to the fatigue. He was still a freshman when it came to using aura. His control of it was practically nonexistent except for activating it. He didn't even know how to turn it off when he was done. It just went off when his body could no longer sustain it. Much like a fire would once the fuel was finished. He used his sword for support and dragged himself to Lydia. "Are you okay!?" She nodded her head, but her condition sa

Tiny kept Madeline in Farna's care. The villagers and the slaves were already out of the village and hiding in a makeshift bunker Derek had built and fortified from runes. The distance of which was quite far from the village. after Keeping Madeline in safe hands, she hurried back to the village. Most of the houses had become a mess. Properties were all over the place and even the corpse of a few stubborn monopods that had not agreed to evacuate the village. They held the same values Anderson and his younger brother had. And they died for them. The Groostlang were ruthless with their purge. Even livestock left behind was not spared. Tiny hurried to where she remembered leaving Lydia and Aesir. What her eyes came in contact with only left her worried about their condition. The members of the Groostlang were in shreds. Blood and organs splattered everywhere like the messy work of an angry toddler with so much food to waste.the pools of blood came together at different co

Tiny came out of the woods and unto the battleground. What she saw welled up anger from the depths of her heart. Derek was a pitiful mess. His face was swollen at different points, his clothes tattered, his skin had severely burnt marks at different points, His left shoulder was dislocated and one of his eyes was so swollen that it was shut tightly closed. Even before her, he was still coughing out blood even though he tried to hide it.She looked at the man that had caused Derek so much pain and her fingers tightened in her fist. She could already see it in her head, the badly destroyed corpse of this idiot. "How dare you touch my... myy!... Derek?" She whispered in a low voice. Her other hand slowly removed her halberd from her back and surprisingly, she threw it on the ground. As much as using a weapon was probably the right thing to do in this case, she was more determined to break this guy's face with her fists. Besides, she was far better at it than any weapon Bastet ev

Tiny did not know what was happening again. The punches were just like duds on her body. She could feel them no longer. She could see them hit her body, but she could no longer feel her body. The only thing that she could still make sense of was the mad laughter of the cult psychopath that was before her. The moment she came, she had jumped in front of Derek to save him. Just like she had always done. It was not something she ever contemplated about, but rather something that came naturally to her. More like the instinct to eat when one was hungry. Or to smile or laugh when one was happy.Standing in front of him always made her happy. As far as she was concerned, she was his shield and she didn't mind. Love was an individual feeling. Everybody loved in their own unique way. This was how she loved. And so time and time again, she would do the work of a shield and protect him from the storms. The feeling of protection for love brought her great joy. When she came and sa

That was the straw that broke the camel's back. The moment the Bishop heard Derek's name, he panicked. He immediately took to his heels like a child scared of the mysteries of the dark. Rumours had it that the Bishop had participated in the War for salvation. Those rumours were not exactly true, neither were there false. Many, especially those lower ranked in the Grootslang did not know this, but the Grootslang was actually a force created by a 'brat' of the noble Writer families. Yes, they were and still are toys for some rich spoilt boy. Of course, that was the only option. This was the central Mesis humus. A ground for training young noble and royal Writers. Only the ignorant would believe that the Groostlang could exist without submission to a Writer in their own backyard. It was very ironic how the Grootslang preached freedom from the rule of Writers when in fact, there were ruled by one. This was a major secret in the Grootslang. One that only a selected amount of p

"Welcome Madeline, we have been waiting for you!" A voice whispered and she turned about to the sound of the voice. There stood a very tall slim woman. She had on a white crop top that revealed her very slim waist leadingdown to her white blouse. She had a pair of glasses on, and she smiled sweetly to Madeline."Where I'm I!?...And who are you!?" Madeline asked."Follow me! I'll explain" she said, gesturing to Madeline a path that opened up in front of them.Madeline frowned and at first did not want to, but still followed behind the woman taking gentle steps.Through a yellow path in-between trees that surprisingly had both carrots and cabbages growing on them, to a hut on a hill side. Although she did not want to, she had no choice and followed.Madeline thought that her sense of reality was warped because

And mounting it's back, she delivered a crushing blow to its neck.*Caw!* It screamed again. However, she did not stop for a bit and after the fourth blow, the eagle passed out. Derek and Aesir stared at her in surprise as she slowly stood from the eagle's back. She made fierce eye contact with Derek and then looked away. Aesir turned to Derek with a brow up, and Derek raised his hands in surrender, "what I'm innocent. I swear!" "Of course you are." Aesir smiled and walked away.Manila began work immediately. The plan was to use the bird as a distraction for the scorpions so that they could pass. The best way to do this would be for them to make sure that the beast could no longer pick up flight.Manila was unsurprisingly skilled at this. She cut out the feathers of the beast.Aesir and Derek also joined her and helped. Soon eno

Derek could not help but look at them and observe them. These were not like the scorpions he knew from earth. For one, they produced webbings from their tail end. Also, there seemed to be very organized and particularly busy. Some of them were bigger, but those big ones were few. And from the looks of it, they monitored the activities of the smaller ones. But it will be far better than to have those things have our scent. Cause ones they do, they will follow us for a very long time." Manila advised."Hmmm. Is there no way to distract them?" Madeline nodded her head in understanding to Chief Sasha's words."So what does this have to do with aura?" Madeline asked."Well! Every thing." She picked up another stone from the ground, "according to your definition of aura, then aura is this object in your hands. And has stated earlier, it weighs you down over time." Chief Sasha turned and threw the stone into the water, then she turned once more and slowly released her aura, "However, if you understand that all it is, is an extension of your body, then behold the weight is gone. After all, your hands have always been attached to the rest of your body and you don't hear them complaining."Those words suddenly stroke difference to Madeline. She felt like she was at a state where she wanted to understand. Meanwhile, back at the mountain that belonged to the Waka tribe, Derek sat crossed legged in a cave assigned to him. This cave was by far a better one than the one he had and his friends had been sharing on first arrival. Also it was decorated appropriately and it even had a bed in the middle made of several animal fur. Derek had already given out instruction that he would loved to be left alone for a while, if not the entrance to this place would have been crowded by people. With rumours of the tribe having a writer as a guest, every body wanted to meet him. Also, tales of his marvelous feat from the battle earlier in the day had reached their ears.He was as good as a god to them at this point. At the entrance of the cave already lay all sorts of gifts for him. However, Derek was not all that interested in playing messiah at the moment. He just had too much on his mind. Too much problems that needed his attention. One of which was the pressing matter that both his women were mis
