The Loser And His Lover

"What about tonight? Come to my house, my parents aren't home."

"Sounds great, Chris. Should I bring the girls?"

"Excatly yes, you should. That's gonna be fun."

Thud!

Einer froze a second after someone bumped him. He looked at a little cake he brought before picking it up.

Meanwhile a guy who just bumped on him, stopped and just looking.

"Did I just hit someone?" Chris, a handsome and wealth student, who also one of popular bullies. He didn't feel sorry after made Einer's cake a little mess. He looked enjoying what he did.

"The cake is alright, isn't it?" Chris knelt down before Einer who was still quiet. Einer held himself even though a little bit pissed off, because that cake was something he got after a very hard work.

"Even though it hit the floor, but I think it's still good to eat," said Anton, Chris' friend.

"You're right. The cleaners do they work so well to clean the floors, so this isn't a big deal," Sam agreed.

"Is that so? Should we prove it?" Chris swept his palm to the floor, then tried to smear it onto the cake.

Einer absolutely didn't want his cake to encounter the dirty dust from the floor, so he slapped Chris' hand away and gave Chris a little shock.

"Oh wow, look what this loser do." Chris hit Einer’s head, slapped his face to fell. “Do you just slap my hand? How dare you! Who do you think you are, huh?”

Anton kicked Einer, stopping him to stood up.

“A boy who came to this place with pity, how dare you touch Chris with your dirty hands!"

"Chris, you need to wash your hands with soap or Routa's stench will follow your body. You don't want the smell of the slum to stick to you, do you?" said Sam, Chris's friend.

"Shit! I'm going to take a shower after this." Chris looked so annoyed. "I'm going to clean my body so I don't smell like an orphan from the rundown Routa!"

Chris left Einer who still had nothing to say. After they left, Einer picked up the cake and tried to fix it a little. He was angry that Chris had ruined his cake, but didn't have the power to fight back since he had always been prey with Chris as the predator.

Einer was used to this anyway; he would just keep walking and ignore the people who were talking about him and laughing at him. There was something more important now; the medicine that Einer always relied on to overcome the bad feelings after Chris disturbed his quiet life.

"Amora." Einer walked into the quiet art room, where a beautiful woman with blue eyes and blonde hair was waiting for him; playing with her cell phone. "Sorry to make you wait. Are you angry?"

"Do you need to ask me that when you can clearly see my face?" Amora asked back angrily. "Or if only your eyes were no longer working properly."

Einer smiled clumsily, trying to keep Amora's mood.

"I'm sorry; I tried to come quickly and see you-"

"What exactly did you want to say to make me wait so long in this place? Do you think I have time to play around?"

"Well, happy one year anniversary, my love."

Amora paused, looking at the cake Einer had placed on the table; a small cake that was already messy at the top.

"You said you wanted the chocolate cake from that famous cake shop, but I'm sorry that I can give it to you now. I worked really hard and the boss gave me a reward, so I was able to buy this cake for you. Also, I got movie tickets for us tonight. Prepare yourself, darling."

Amora said nothing, her gaze cold as if appraising the cake.

"Amora, I love you so much. I never thought that I would be the lucky one to be with you, you're like Aphrodite who came down to earth to bless me with great happiness. You are the light in my gray life, so I just hope we can keep living happily ever after as well."

"You think I'm happy with you?"

Einer was stunned. "What? What did you just say?"

Amora rotated her eyes, sighing heavily to stand up straight from her chair.

"Forget it, Einer; you pissed me off after making me wait, only to see this surprise that feels like an outright insult?"

"If you're talking about the messy cake, it's because Chris and his friends were bullying me a while ago. I didn't mean to ruin the cake, Amora."

"You always blame Chris for the misfortunes you have, but haven't you ever realized that your fault is that you're weak?" Einer remained silent, dumbfounded to reply to Amora's sharp words. "Einer, I'm really fed up. Why does a popular girl like me have to deal with a weak lover like you? Everyone talks about the contradiction between us, and it's not something I can be proud of because it's a nightmare. Do I prepare my best every day just to get the minimum effort from you?"

"Amora, I don't understand why you're this angry... I'm sorry."

"I'm always angry; I'm angry that my boyfriend is so weak and pathetic but I hide it all because I pity you."

Einer frowned, feeling uncomfortable. "You pity me?"

"Yeah. Do you think there's something you can be proud of that makes you not feel sorry for all your shortcomings?" Amora approached Einer, arrogance etched in her piercing blue eyes staring at her boyfriend. "I admit that you are handsome, Einer, but is that enough? You only have your face, but there are many men out there who have everything."

Amora walked towards the door, as Einer frantically tried to speak up and stop her.

"Amora, I'll be stronger for you!"

Or Einer tried to make sure Amora's words would not be the last time they spoke.

"I'll be strong to fight Chris, so you don't have to be ashamed of having a weak boyfriend anymore. I will become very strong for you, Amora!"

Amora did not even turn around; glancing at Einer with side eyes before snorting and saying, "Do whatever you want." Then left with a cold back.

***

A little argument between him and his girlfriend made Einer feel a bit regretful. He prepared a lot of sweet things only to became in vain. Amora didn't even look at his messages, left alone to answer his call.

So Einer decided to work this night. Since he came from Routa to a big city like Sancer only to change his life, Einer had to do a lot of part time jobs. He did his best because no one knew what kind of surprises would be waiting for him beyond, and he didn't plan to fall so deep into a woman named Amora Hills at the first place.

Einer was deeply in love with Amora until he forgot for a while about his first reason for coming to this town; he was only wanted to find his mother and his twin sister who were lost since 15 years ago.

That day, Einer's mom told him that she was went to the market with Einer's twin sister, and she didn't let Einer to go out of the door before she was back but she never coming home until this day. Einer never met his mom and his twin again.

The only thing left from that day was a necklace; The necklace was a simple silver chain with block-shaped metal pendant. Einer didn't think the necklace was expensive with those ordinary materials, but his mother always told him not to take off the necklace. So Einer still wore it while hoping it would be the signal for his mother to find him someday.

Einer didn't know where they were now and what was happened to them that day, so Einer wanted to be naive and believed that they were still alive somewhere, and maybe they were here, in Sancer.

"Only if I become rich, I can find Mom and Eleonor easily. So, let's work so hard, Einer. Forget about your romance for a while!" He cheered himself up. He was about to delivered some pizza orders this night.

"I guess this customer is host a party," said West, Einer's friend.

"Oh really? It's gonna be better if I deliver these pizzas only to one address."

"You can't wait to go home and sleep, huh?"

"No, I still have one part time job this night. Still got a long way to be rich."

Einer wore the helmet and heading to the place; a bit far and was in the area where rich people lived.

While looking for the address, Einer admired the luxurious houses he passed while imagining what it would be like to live in a spacious place—not a cramped and scum apartment. All of that motivated him to work, and delivered the pizzas quickly.

Einer stopped in front of the large and luxurious house. He saw several parked cars and thought what West said was true. Einer carried eight pizza boxes in his hands and pressed the bell, the music inside prevented the bell sound from reaching the people who were partying.

“EXCUSE ME! YOUR PIZZAS ARE HERE, LADIES AND GENTLEMAN!”

Einer pressed the bell again, and luckily, his voice was heard.

“Oh, the pizzas is here. Come in and put them on the dining table.”

“But, Lady—”

Einer didn't plan to deliver the pizzas to the house, but he thought that there would be some tips after this extra service so he walked in. A chaotic party atmosphere greeted him.

The music was louder inside, and the lighting was looked like they were in a nightclub. The people danced with their partners, having fun with music and alcohols. Einer didn't care and did the order to put the pizzas on the buffet, until something caught his attention to made him stop.

He was stopped a second before went out, to looked clearly to the corner and recognizing someone he knew.

"Amora?"

Einer didn't want to believe what he saw; of course, he won't. How could he deal with shock when he saw his girlfriend hugging intimately with another guy? All the more to know who was the guy. He made Einer widen his eyes.

“Chris….”
