"Why would he say that? About a promise? What promise?" Edwin wondered to himself.

Dakota deliberately brought it up because he knew that the man in front of his was a religious expert. Dakota could see from the picture in his head that Edwin was a devout person, often praying in church. Edwin is a person who never breaks promises and always does good no matter how small it is. That's why Dakota took advantage of it, especially since he had heard Edwin's inner voice who would give a big prize to anyone who could find his grandmother.

Edwin smiled while looking at Dakota with a furrowed brow. "What do you mean?"

Dakota pretended to look the other way while stuffing one hand into his pants pocket. "People these days often forget their own promises and forget how scary God's punishment is if they break a promise. Either they forget their promises or they deliberately forget them. I don't know what he will get in return from God."
