"Why would he say that? About a promise? What promise?" Edwin wondered to himself.

Dakota deliberately brought it up because he knew that the man in front of his was a religious expert. Dakota could see from the picture in his head that Edwin was a devout person, often praying in church. Edwin is a person who never breaks promises and always does good no matter how small it is.
