Chapter 6

Anna chuckled with a flushed face. "Never mind, you're praising me too much. I'm not that pretty."

Dakota smiled in response. They chatted casually, just flowing for several tens of minutes. It wasn't uncommon for her to laugh. Anna felt very happy and comfortable talking to Dakota. It was different when talking to Jay, who often made her talk to herself because Jay was more focused on playing on cell phones in front of her.

Anna watched Dakota with a slightly furrowed brow. "Ah, I had forgotten. How did you find out about Jay planning that bad thing for me? I didn't even know about it myself."

Dakota, who was drinking, became silent and then smiled slightly. "You don't need to know that."

Anna nodded her head. "Yes, you're right. I don't need to know that." She sipped her drink with her eyes, not leaving Dakota. "I'm glad I got to meet and talk to a man like you, Dakota. You can understand how I am."

Dakota responded to Anna's words calmly. "I'm glad that our meeting made a good impression on you."

I'm grateful for having this kind of ability.

Dakota could even see that the woman before him seemed very happy with him. It was obvious from Anna's face, which was still flushed, blushing. Even Anna acted wrong in front of Dakota, which made Dakota feel sure that Anna was starting to be interested in him.

Anna received another message that she had to return to the company immediately. She put her cell phone in her bag with a sad look on her face. "I'm sorry, Dakota. Apparently, our meeting was short-lived. Next time, I'll treat you better than this as an expression of my gratitude."

Dakota shook his head as she got up. "There's no need. This is enough."

However, Dakota's head suddenly hurt. His body was unsteady, and he almost fell down. Anna immediately helped Dakota to sit back on the chair. "What's wrong? Are you okay?"

Dakota held his head while exhaling. "My head still hurts a lot from the collision that day."

Anna widened her eyes, surprised by Dakota's words. "Collision? When did it happen, and why did it happen?" Anna sits back in her chair, curious about what happened to Dakota.

Dakota leaned his back against the back of the chair. "I don't know, but I was so distracted that I didn't realize a truck was approaching. I got hit and when I woke up, I was already in the hospital. I was discharged today after a week of hospitalization."

Anna was even more shocked listening to Dakota's explanation. She felt sorry for Dakota. "You should still be resting in the hospital and receiving follow-up care, Dakota. I'm sure you were going to go home, but instead you saw me and Jay fighting. You had to deal with us. I'm sorry, Dakota."

The woman looked guilty to Dakota. Dakota held Anna's hand on the table, trying to calm Anna down. "Calm down, it's okay. I've gotten good treatment. It's not your fault. After all, it was me who wanted to help you. You don't need to beat yourself up."

Anna squeezed the fabric of her shirt right in front of her chest. Seeing Dakota's shady eyes made Anna's heart skip a beat. They looked at each other for a while with their hands still holding each other. In an atmosphere that was very supportive of their closeness, suddenly, there was a voice that Dakota knew very well.

"Hey, loser! You were flirting with another woman after being dumped, huh." Ghea sneered at Dakota with her arrogant face.

Dakota removed his hand from Anna's. He stared coldly at Ghea. He replied calmly. "None of your business."

Ghea snorted in annoyance as she rolled her eyes. "How arrogant. You're tired of being rejected by me, so you're looking for a new target? You lowly man!"

Actually, Dakota was too lazy to meet Ghea again. He didn't respond to Ghea's words and looked at Anna before him. Ghea, on the other hand, looked at Anna with a displeased look. She was not happy to see that scene.

Ghea looked at Anna from head to toe. "You should look in the mirror, Dakota. Look at the obvious difference between you and that woman. From afar, it's obvious that you're more suited to be her servant."

Bruno chuckled as he girded his loins. "Anyone would think so. Just look at his clothes, even a servant is more presentable than him."

Anna frowned, beginning to dislike hearing their insults to Dakota. "Do you know them, Dakota?"

Bruno stepped closer to their table, then looked at Dakota and Anna in turn. "Of course, we know each other. Everyone on campus knows him as a poor, shameless lowlife!"

Anna held back Dakota's hand, who just silently accepted Ghea and Bruno's insults. "Why are you doing nothing? Haven't they gone too far?"

Dakota was still silent. His demeanor looked calm, not bothered by Ghea and Bruno's insults. Seeing Anna holding Dakota's hand gently made Ghea even more unhappy. Something disturbing in Ghea's heart was that Dakota forgot about her so quickly.

Ghea folded her hands in front of her chest while snorting in annoyance. "You're the woman Dakota is getting close to, huh?"

Anna was silent. She didn't know what to answer because she and Dakota had just met. She didn't know whether it could be called an approach or not. She looked at Dakota, who still looked calm.

Ghea didn't like that Anna seemed to be ignoring her. "Just so you know, I just rejected Dakota after he confessed his love a hundred times. He's a poor man. No one would want him. That's why you should stay away from him too!"

Bruno laughed again, mocking Dakota while putting his arm around Ghea's shoulder. "Of course, any woman would also think dozens of times about getting close to him. You should do the same. Stay away from that loser!"

Anna was quite surprised to hear Ghea's statement about Dakota's declaration of love, but there was also a feeling of admiration in her heart because it meant that Dakota was a man who was loyal to women. He didn't give up even after being rejected hundreds of times.

Dakota looked at Ghea and Bruno with an annoyed look but was still calm. "Then what's your business?"

Ghea and Bruno chuckled at Dakota's question. Bruno raised his chin haughtily. "What a shameless man. How dare you ask such an impolite question. Sassy bastard!"

Dakota clenched his hands under the table. He wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. Dakota looked at Anna with a cold look in his eyes. "Anna, we should just get out of here. Aren't you in a hurry too?"

Anna nodded her head quickly and got up along with Dakota. They walked together to leave, but Ghea and Bruno stopped them.

"Wait a minute!" Bruno raised his hand, blocking Dakota's way. "You can't just leave, you idiot!"

Bruno looked at Anna's shy face. He smirked at the woman's face. Damn it. She was so beautiful. Even more beautiful than Ghea.

Dakota, who heard Bruno's inner voice, looked at the man coldly. "Don't block us. She's in a hurry."

Bruno chuckled in annoyance. He pushed Dakota's shoulder back a few steps. "You really are a shameless man. A poor man like you dares to approach this woman. You'll only be a parasite to her. You should be ashamed and look in the mirror, why Ghea rejected you so many times is because you're poor!"

"Yes, that's right! Now you're pretending to ask her out at the cafe. Do you have the money to treat her?" Ghea also sneered at Dakota. She berated Dakota with a loud tone that made everyone there look at them. "Isn't this the woman who bought you? How embarrassing!"

Bruno raised both eyebrows while looking contemptuously at Dakota. "Of course she did. A man like him, where does he get his money from? A parasite, forever just going to be a parasite. Costing those close to him dearly!" Bruno looked at Anna. "Hey, you'd better stay away from this guy. He'll embarrass you!"

Ghea nodded her head. "Besides, what's the point of dating a poor guy like him? Men are supposed to treat women, not the other way around. Dakota, you should feel ashamed, but you're acting calm like that. Disgusting."

Bruno laughed while shaking his head. "If I were him, I wouldn't be able to show my face in front of people. People who only live as parasites are better off dead!"

Ghea and Bruno's words to Dakota made Anna Dakota upset. "Stop it. You guys have gone too far. Don't talk carelessly to my girlfriend!"

Anna's statement suddenly made Ghea and Bruno surprised to hear it, including Dakota, who immediately looked at Anna in disbelief.
