“What do you mean? What cyst?”

Sebastian blinked, staring at the small screen on his phone, feeling his heart beat faster. The emergency information he had just received made him pause in front of his door, but then he ran to the car without thinking. He knew that something serious had happened to his wife. He had to get to the hospital immediately.

His voice was hoarse as he spoke to the hospital operator, trying to get a grasp of the situation as quickly as possible.

“This is a complication… You need to come to the hospital immediately and sign the consent form for surgery as soon as possible.” The voice was flat but urgent.

Sebastian pressed the accelerator, his eyes scanning the road anxiously. His breathing was erratic, his mind spinning with various bad scenarios. His heart was filled with overwhelming fear—his wife, Sara, had always seemed healthy. They had just celebrated their wedding anniversary last week, and there had been no sign of anything like this happening. She had to be okay. They had to be okay.

When he arrived at the hospital, Sebastian ran inside without caring about the stares of the people around him. He headed straight to the reception desk, his voice sounding rushed.

“My wife, Sara. I have an emergency call… She’s here for surgery. I need to… I need to sign whatever is necessary!” he said, his breath coming in short gasps.

The receptionist quickly checked the records and pointed the way to the emergency room.

“The doctor is waiting for you inside. Please proceed there, sir.”

With quick steps, Sebastian entered the indicated consultation room. Inside, a doctor stood with a serious expression on his face.

 “You are Sara’s husband, correct?”

“Yes, yes. How is she?” Sebastian felt himself shaking.

The doctor placed some papers in front of him.

“Your wife has a ruptured corpus luteum cyst. It is one of the ovarian cysts that can form during the menstrual cycle. The rupture of this cyst caused a large amount of bleeding in her abdomen, which required immediate surgery to stop the bleeding.”

Sebastian tried to digest all the information, but what made him even more anxious were the doctor's next words, "In addition, there is a tear in the anus due to pressure over time. This is very rare, but it is a serious condition. We need your consent to start the surgery now."

"A tear... in the anus?" Sebastian felt his chest tighten. "How is that possible? What exactly happened to him?"

The doctor sighed softly, giving Sebastian a moment to collect his thoughts. "We will discuss further after the surgery is complete, but right now the most important thing is to stop the internal bleeding. Otherwise, this condition could be fatal."

Sebastian's eyes felt hot. Without hesitation, he immediately took the pen given by the doctor and signed the surgical consent form. His hands trembled as he wrote his name on the paper.

"Do whatever you can, please save her," he pleaded with a voice that almost broke.

After the signature was completed, the doctor immediately moved quickly to the operating room, leaving Sebastian standing in the empty hallway. He took his cell phone out of his pocket and checked the last messages from Sara. Nothing strange. Everything seemed normal. They even talked about what they were going to do this weekend. How could this happen so suddenly?

Anxiety was growing in Sebastian’s mind. He paced back and forth in the waiting room, not knowing what to do but wait. Every second that passed felt like torture. He kept remembering the doctor’s words, “anal tear.” It wasn’t something he would hear in everyday conversation, and it was making him even more confused.

He couldn’t help but think of the worst. What exactly happened to Sara? How could this happen without any prior warning?

A few moments later, a nurse approached Sebastian with a calm, yet serious face.

“The surgery is underway now, sir. We’ll let you know as soon as there are any developments.”

“Thank you,” Sebastian replied softly, though his voice was barely audible.

He then sat down on one of the chairs in the waiting room, took out his wallet, and checked his credit card limit. He had used everything he had to pay for this emergency surgery. Nothing else mattered more right now than making sure Sara received the best care possible.

Time continued to pass. Every time the operating room door opened, Sebastian turned his head in the hope of seeing the doctor coming out with good news. But, there was no sign of anything.

Sebastian sat with his back straight, his hands gripping the arms of the chair tightly. His head was filled with thoughts. Sara had to hold on. They had been through so much together, and it couldn’t end like this.

When the operating room door finally opened again, Sebastian held his breath. The doctor came out with a mask still covering his face, but his eyes looked a little relieved.

“We managed to stop the bleeding,” the doctor said.

Sebastian could barely speak. He could only nod slowly, his eyes starting to water.

“Sebastian, there’s something we need to explain before you talk to your wife,” the doctor spoke softly but clearly as if trying to set the mood.

Sebastian, who was exhausted after waiting for hours in uncertainty, looked at the doctor in the hope that this would all be over soon. “Yes? How is she?” he asked quickly, hoping that everything that had happened was just a bad dream.

The doctor hesitated for a moment, before taking a deep breath and starting his explanation. “Your wife’s condition is quite complicated. We detected a ruptured corpus luteum cyst, but… there’s something you should know about the cause. The injuries she sustained, including the torn anus, showed signs of very intense sexual activity.”

Sebastian fell silent, his body stiffening at the doctor’s words.

“Intense… sexual activity?” he repeated softly as if he couldn’t comprehend what he had just heard. “Impossible. We… We haven't had sex in a long time. I mean, we… haven’t done it very often.”

The doctor nodded, his face still serious.

“I understand, sir. However, these injuries didn’t happen without a cause. We can only conclude based on what we found during the surgery.”

Sebastian felt his heart skip a beat, but this time not from anxiety or fear, but from the anger that was starting to burn in his chest.

 “You mean, my wife…”

The doctor didn’t finish his sentence, but the silence gave Sebastian all the answers he needed.

He took a step back as if the air around him had suddenly become too thick to breathe.

“Sara is cheating on me?” his mind screamed silently. That was impossible. There was no way the woman he had been with for so many years, whom he trusted with all his heart, would do something like this. But… the doctor’s words were so clear, there was no room for doubt.

Sebastian rubbed his face with both hands, trying to calm himself down before returning to Sara’s ward. After the surgery was over, Sara was still lying weakly on the hospital bed, her eyes slowly opening as she regained consciousness.

When she saw Sebastian sitting next to her bed, Sara’s eyes widened for a moment, and an awkward expression appeared on her face. She seemed surprised, maybe even uncomfortable to see her husband there. There was a strange tension between them—unlike usual.

Sebastian, who sat with an expressionless face, stared at her deeply, trying to find an answer to Sara’s gaze. He was too tired to start with any overwhelming emotions. Instead, his voice sounded tired, almost hollow, when he finally spoke. “Sara… What really happened? Are you… cheating on me?”

The question hung in the air, so direct and sharp. Sara looked shocked, her lips trembling slightly before she forced herself to speak, “What do you mean? I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Sebastian didn’t move from his position, but his gaze didn’t look away. “The doctor said… the injuries you have, they said they were from intense sexual activity. We… We haven't had sex in a long time, Sara. So who was that man?”

Sara was getting more and more agitated. She tried to stay calm, but her nervous instincts were making it hard to think straight.

“Sebastian, I… I don’t know why the doctor would say something like that.”
