Chapter 7: Betting On The Wedding.

After a while, everyone regained their composure and burst into laughter.

"What's this joke now? He alone plans to organize a wedding?"

"Wow, I bet he'll slaughter a huge cow for his wedding, I'm already drooling at the thought!"

"The poor thing can't even afford a wedding ring, yet dares to say he'll organize a wedding a hundred times grander than ours?"

"Just look, Lauren has been married for so long, but she doesn't even have a wedding ring to wear."

"She'll become a bride again, just divorce this useless man and marry someone else. She's so beautiful, she'll definitely have opportunities. Otherwise, she'll just wait for the rest of her life."

"By the way, my boss, Young Master Miller, has long fancied Lauren. If she really wants to be a bride, she can divorce him and remarry Young Master Miller." Conrad mocked and pointed towards Young Master, who had just invited Ye Tao for a drink.

Hearing everyone's scornful laughter, Lauren's face turned red, then pale, and she wanted to tear Anderson's mouth.

"What nonsense are you spouting now? Just a moment ago you called someone to act, and now you're staging another scene? Even a madman would talk about organizing a big wedding in Lightharbor. Don't you think this joke is enough for me? I told you to be stronger, not to brag or lie like this! Now you dare to make up such a story, your tongue is indeed quick, why can't you leave me any dignity? Must you make me feel humiliated for you to be happy?"

Lauren was about to explode, but Anderson just looked at her affectionately and said: "Lauren, trust me, if I dared to say that, I'm sure I can do it. From today, I won't let you be sad or cry anymore."

Lauren looked at him in surprise, her eyes wide and shimmering, stunned by his words for the first time. She had never seen Anderson so confident before. Especially, his determined eyes made her feel like they were the gaze of a deity.

"Alright, I'll trust you this time." Lauren said, somewhat perplexed by Anderson's gaze.

"Great, then we have a show to watch. On the 14th, pick up my sister from this house to see who has the grander wedding, let it become the most grand event in Lightharbor." Caroline suggested.

"No problem, I will certainly pick up your sister with all the grandeur possible." Anderson replied.

"Okay, just don't come without saying a word!" Caroline suddenly imagined the scene of Lauren and Anderson coming to her wedding in tattered clothes with ashen faces, and she couldn't help but laugh.

"Anderson, what if you can't do it? We can't allow our family to be humiliated." Mrs. Harris asked.

"If you really want me to divorce Lauren, then if I fail, I'll divorce her and leave the Harris household immediately." Anderson said.

"Very well, good! Remember, you said this. Many people here are witnesses. Don't regret it later!"

Mrs. Harris had always wanted Lauren and Anderson to divorce, intending to have Lauren remarry into the Miller family.

"Rest assured, I will never regret this decision." Anderson stated.

"Lauren, are you deciding to leave with this useless man?" Mrs. Harris asked again.

"Yes!" Lauren, despite her rage, answered firmly.

"Fine, if that's your decision, from tomorrow, you don't need to come to work at our company anymore. After you divorce him, you can come back to work." Mrs. Harris said coldly.

As Mrs. Harris spoke, a stunned silence enveloped everyone. No one expected her to banish Lauren. Lauren herself was shocked. Despite Anderson being of no use to the Harris family over the years, but Lauren had worked diligently. Just because she showed anger today and chose to leave with Anderson, was she ousted from the company?

"I hope you won't regret this decision in the future. Don't expect me and Lauren to help the Harris family with anything." Anderson said icily.

"The Harris family begging you for help? A hollow drum makes the loudest noise; you overestimate yourself!" Mrs. Harris said disdainfully.

She was worried Lauren would use the company's funds to organize a wedding with Anderson, so she ousted her to prevent that from happening, blatantly disregarding all her contributions.

"Anderson, can you think of anything more amusing? Have you taken the wrong medication today? Don't dream, only a dog would beg you!" Christian said.

"Exactly, if you're dreaming, wake up! What do you have that anyone would beg for? Even a dog wouldn't need you! Better go home and take your medicine!" Caroline added.

Seeing Lauren ousted from the company, Caroline and Christian were the happiest. Now that Lauren was gone, she had become inferior to them. They had long wanted to drive Lauren out of the company and the Harris household. They couldn't believe how smoothly everything had gone.

"Lauren, let's go." Anderson said, turning away, ignoring these people and pulling Lauren out without looking back.

"The worst thing about him is his uselessness and his penchant for showing off!" Mrs. Harris's voice could be heard loudly from behind, intentionally loud enough for them to hear.

Outside the Harris estate, Lauren felt like she had just stepped out of a dream.

"Anderson, if you want to divorce me, just say it. Why do you keep embarrassing me with these pointless acts?" Lauren said angrily.

Anderson suddenly stopped: "Beloved wife, when did I want to divorce you?"

"If you don't want to divorce me, why did you make that bet with my grandmother?" Lauren paused, then suddenly asked: "Wait, how are you addressing me right now?"

Because Anderson called her "beloved wife" very affectionately.

"I'm absolutely confident that I won’t lose." Anderson replied calmly.

"Why are you still pretending with me? I still have some savings we can use for our wedding, I don’t want to be embarrassed anymore, let's use it!"

"No need, I have my own way."

"Alright..." Lauren had to pretend to trust Anderson, but she was so angry that she had lost all hope in him: "It doesn’t matter, I’ve been embarrassed for three years now, I don’t care anymore. Being embarrassed one more time won’t make a difference."

Then, with a sad smile, she said: "Anyway, it's good that I can divorce you after this embarrassing event. We will be divorced soon."

Anderson, sweating profusely, didn’t want to explain too much: "Can I borrow your mobile phone for a moment?"

"You don’t have a mobile phone?" Lauren said, displeased.

"I... I’m about to run out of phone credit." Anderson said awkwardly. Actually, he had left his phone at the Harris house, right next to the expensive necklace that had been smashed.

"....."
