Just as John finished talking to Miss B and was about to leave the restroom to head to her place, his phone rang again. The shrill ringtone echoed off the tiled walls, jolting him out of his thoughts. He figured it was Miss B calling back, her voice still fresh in his mind. But when he glanced at the screen, he saw Brad’s name. A wave of unease washed over him, and his heart started to race.

John stood there for a moment, staring at the phone vibrating in his hand. The name “Brad” flashed insistently, and he felt a knot form in his stomach. What was he going to say?
