Lilly moved closer to the car with her eyebrows raised in astonishment. Her lips formed an oval shape as she switched her gaze from Justin to the car and then back to her amused folks.
"What is going on?" Lilly asked, with her hands hemmed across her chest.
"I heard your new car was taken away," Justin said with a flare of sarcasm in his tone. "So I thought to get my beautiful wife a brand new car," Justin added.
"Wow!" Lilly exclaimed. She was a bit speechless as she glanced at the car.
"He brought her a brand new Urus?" Diana's boyfriend mumbled as he walked towards Diana and plopped his hands on her shoulder.
"This is unbelievable," Tucson whispered.
Justin paid no attention to the murmurs.
"It's all yours baby!" He screamed, stretching the car keys to Lilly.
Lilly grasped the car keys. A grin arched across her mouth as she saw the metallic 'Lamborghini' inscription on the car key. She fluttered into Justin's arms and hugged him tightly like she was going to crush his backbone. Lilly extricated from the embrace and placed a kiss on Justin's lips.
That moment felt like a remarkable highlight in Justin's life. He couldn't remember the last time Lilly kissed him with so much enthusiasm and passion. Ever since he got married to her and moved into her father's crib, everything changed. The love and affection they shared faded into the ash heaps of history.
But everything seemed to be in place now. Now Justin can enjoy his wife's love and attention. Without menaces like Bruce Springsteen spitting at him with a mere 'Velar.'
"I guess he has stepped his game up now, ready to be amongst the top class," Tucson muttered to his wife. "That's a luxuriously expensive car. It costs a fortune."
"I don't believe this." Mrs. Tucson said distastefully with a smirk on her face.
"You want to see the interior?" Justin asked. He gestured for Lilly to move closer.
"Yes!" Lilly affirmed.
"Come take a look, it's all in leather and carbon fibre. Just the way you like it." Justin bragged. He opened the car for Lilly to peer into it.
Lilly hovered her hands over her mouth as she beheld the classy interior of the car.
"You like it?"
"Like?" Lilly muttered. "I love it. But isn't this too much?"
Justin limped forward. He held Lilly's face in his palms and looked intensely into her ocean-blue eyeballs.
"Baby. You deserve this and more. Nothing is too much for you. Nothing is too expensive for the woman I love. Look, Lilly, I know I've not been the man you want me to be, but I will bring down the sun to take that mask off your face and put a smile on it." Justin sealed his promise with a kiss.
"I love you," Lilly said.
"I love you too," Justin said, plopping another kiss on Lilly's forehead. "You want to go for a drive in your new car?" Justin asked.
Lilly nodded her head in affirmation.
"Not so fast buddy!" A voice yelled from behind.
Justin turned to meet a familiar figure striding towards him. It was the loan shark with four of his men, who appeared vicious like badly built mannequins.
'But, our agreement was a month,' Justin thought.
"You just might not need a punch, instead of a drive." The loan shark said.
Everyone squint their eyes in awe, as they anticipated how the scene would unfold.
"Where is my money?" The loan shark yelled.
Justin's eyes quivered in shame. He wished the violent loan shark would bring his voice down a little bit.
"We agreed that I'd pay you back in a month, It has just been a few days, y - "
"Shut up!" The loan shark shrieked. He inhaled his blunt and let out a whiff of flame. "I can demand my money anytime I want. And there's nothing you can do about it."
Justin looked around and he saw the astounded look on Lilly's face. His heart pulsed faster as he gritted his teeth in fury.
"This was not the plan. I don't have the money right now, I - "
"That's okay! I've got a repayment plan, and I'm sure you'd love it." The loan shark cut in with a sinister smile on his dark lips.
He brushed Justin's shoulder and ambled towards the new car.
"Indeed a sexy whip." He muttered, admiring the car.
"Guys take the car away from her." He ordered.
"No, you can't do that. This is a gift!" Lilly yelled as she tightened her grip on the car keys.
Lilly slammed the door of the car with a loud bang, she strolled towards the loan shark like she was going to get into a physical altercation with him. "You're not going to take the car away," Lilly yelled. The loan shark gave Lilly a cold, calculating gaze. "You have a sexy angry face." He muttered. Justin's face changed into a scowl when he heard the compliment. He seemed to find it disrespectful that the loan shark complimented his wife that way. "But you have to stay out of this," the loan shark added. He gestured for his men to take the car key from Lilly. "Give them the car keys young lady." The loan shark ordered. Lilly didn't listen. She constricted her hands on the keys as her heart thumped rapidly as two men approached her. She drifted to the side, but they didn't stop coming closer. Lilly took fearful steps backward and the men trudged towards her at the same pace. "Don't touch my wife," Justin yelled. He stormed close to the men going after Lilly. One of them lande
Lilly's lips emitted a sigh. She wiped a streak of sweat off her face. She felt a lot of emotions, yet clueless about which one to express first. She felt guilty that Justin succumbed to her pressure. And had to go and lend money to buy her a car. Then again she imagined how broken and disappointed she'd be if the car was taken away. Again she recalled the awkward way her last encounter with Bruce ended. She thought she wasn't going to see him again. Despite what transpired, Bruce came in and saved the day. His act of kindness may have earned him a spot in her heart. "I'm sorry," Bruce said, wrapping his hand around Lilly's neck. At first, he thought she'd shove his hand away. Instead, she pulled him into a warm embrace. Tucson cleared his throat as he and his wife approached Lilly and Bruce. The duo disentangled from the hug. Lilly's cheek melted in a sheepish smile. She's nervous about how she'll introduce Bruce to her family. "Don't you think the handsome man deserves to be int
Justin's laughter erupted like a dam, breaking, echoing off the walls in a manic crescendo. The laughter vanished off Justin's lips when he saw the sincerity in Lilly's demeanor. "Lilly! Are you kidding right now?" Justin asked, nudging his head closer to her. "Are you leaving me for this bastard, you're really - " "You meant to say, rich bastard?" Bruce impeded, his eyes glinting with a cynical smirk. "Shut up. You bastard." He slammed his cuffed hands on the table, the metal cuffs clanking against the wood, ready to pull Bruce in for a fight. "You're the reason why I was here in the first place you animal!" Bruce curled his lips in a sinister smile. "You're here because you couldn't pay your debt." Bruce smirked. "Justin!" Lilly called and Justin sat down. "Sign the papers, please." The welled-up tears in Justin's eyes cascaded. "You want me to sign these papers? Lilly, I love you. I can't imagine a world without you." Justin cried. "But I don't love you! What part of that d
A Rolls-Royce Cullinan pulled over amongst a multitude of people, its sleek black exterior gleaming in the bright camera lights. The hum of its engine died down, and the soft thud of the doors opening drew everyone's attention. The sweet scent of leather and wood wafted out, enticing the crowd as they watched with dropped jaws.Tucson emerged from the Rolls-Royce, his blue tuxedo perfectly tailored to his body, the soft rustle of the fabric echoing through the silence. The golden threads embroidered on his lapel caught the light, shimmering like diamonds as he stepped onto the red carpet, his black patent leather shoes glinting with a mirror-like finish. He appeared like a groom that's ready to walk down the aisle with the love of his life. He held his wife's hand as she slowly alighted from the car. Just like him, Mrs. Tucson's outfit is yelling 'classy.' She's not in her wardrobe exclusive, but the golden sparkles on her red dress attracted onlookers. Her diamond necklace twinkled
"What stupid instructions?" Diana yelled. "You could lose your job right now." She added. "This is so embarrassing," Meeky muttered through gritted teeth. "This whole thing is beginning to erupt a scene here. Mrs. Tucsons said. "I'm afraid we might have to leave." Bruce clenched his teeth, its sound echoing through the air. "We're not leaving. We must go in," Bruce growled. "Yes, we can't leave like that, I paid a whooping one hundred thousand dollars for those tickets. You animals can't cancel them just like that. I must get a refund!" Another loud uproar ensued from the paparazzi. "They've gone broke." "They didn't buy the tickets." "They want a refund? Wow!" "You all should shut the fuck up." Bruce screeched, with a frown. Silence. "Can we pay for new tickets?"Bruce asked, turning to the security. "No sir, the tickets are sold out already." The security guard retorted. "I'm sorry, but you all have to leave now. You're obstructing people from accessing the entrance," th
A faint smile was drawn on his face as he walked in. His eyes were squinted, wondering the reaction on their faces as they watched him getting into a place they thought he would never be able to go in. For a minute he decided to give into his own desires and turned back to look at the entire Tucson family. It was just as he thought—his eyes caught the gaze of Bruce who looked utterly bamboozled, unable to tell what was really going on. Once Bruce caught the eyes of Justin looking back at him he immediately puts up an act.“I am sure he will get kicked out of there," he said. "Filthy bastard. Who does he..." His voice trailed off, uncertainty now fully painted on his face, just as it was on every one of the Tucsons’ faces, as well as Lilly who also looked flustered, trying her best not to be caught staring too much at him.He turned forward again, with a smirk on his face. Seeing Lilly still brought butterflies to his belly, but it was not enough to change anything. He still harbored f
It was a no brainer that the Drogonuv empire was going to be going through some major changes soon. The shock wasn't just restricted to the corporate world. The entire world itself was in shock. Some of them, infact, were in fear. And nobody was this most apparent on, than on Bruce. His office was a mess. Papers of all sorts were littered on his desk as on the floor of his space. His hands shook as he held his pen. His windows were closed. He did not want to entertain any visitor. Every footstep he heard only seemed to heighten his paranoia."Who is that?" He asked in fury as his door was knocked. His eyes red as though he had not had a proper nap for sometime"It's me...your secretary," a squirmish feminine voice resounded through the door. "W... what's going on? What are you doing there?" He asked, awaiting an answer instantly. "There are some people here to see you, sir."His heart nearly jumped into his throat once more. And if not that he was able to control himself, it would
There was silence in the household of the Tucsons. There at the dining, a worried Mr. Tucson trudged around the table with gritted teeth. His hands were folded behind him as he walked with a face painted with worry. The rest of the family were seated on the dining table. Their eyes all seemed to be staring into blank space, except for Meeky who couldn't stop looking every now and then into his phone like he was expecting something.Suddenly, Mr. Tucson stopped walking and stared at his wife. "Has there been any news yet concerning the new heir to the Drogonuv empire?" He asked as seriously as he could.A hiss escaped Mrs. Tucson's lips. "What? You still have your mind on that? Why are you letting it bother you so much?" She casted a gaze on him as he put his hands on her chair. "What are you saying, hunny?" Mr. Tucson's eyes were widened. Bewildered at his wife's words. "Do you know what it would mean for us and our business if the new heir to the Drogonuv empire falls into a carele
Justin sat on the worn out couch in the living room one night, his head in his hands. Bills were scattered across the coffee table, each one was a reminder of the dwindling finances in his marriage. The hum of the old ceiling fan filled the silence, but it did not do anything much to ease the tension in the room.Lilly walked in with a hesitant look on her face as she glanced at the stack of envelopes on the table. Moving closer to him, she gently opened her mouth to talk.“Any luck today?” She asked Justin softly as she placed a hand on his shoulder.Justin shook his head and sighed. “I went to three interviews, and they all said the same thing. They are all looking for someone with more experience.” His voice was tight and edged with frustration.“I am trying my best Lilly. I really am.”“I know you are baby,” she replied him as she sat down beside him. She hesitated for a moment before continuing, as if weighing her words carefully. “But Justin, maybe it is time we consider anothe
“You mean everything to me too babe,” she would always reply to him whenever she sees such with her eyes glistening with tears. This continued till weeks and months passes by and Justin finally landed a temporary position at a small logistics company. Though the pay was not that much, it gave him a new beacon of hope. He started the job and have it all he have, determined to prove his worth and climb the ladder. However, the long hours and demanding tasks often left him drained. On the other hand, Lilly's own frustrations had started to show. “I feel like we are just surviving,” she admitted one night after work. “I know we said we would get through this together, but sometimes I wonder if we are in over our heads.”Justin took her hand in his with a firm grip but also gentle touch.“We are not in over our heads babe. We are just at the starting line. Things will get better for us, we just have to keep pushing.”She sighed in frustration and resignation. But as time went in and on, t
The sun rose on the tiny apartment Justin and Lilly called their home. It was their first morning as husband and wife, and though the place was small, it felt like their own piece of heaven. Justin woke to the smell of coffee brewing from the kitchen and saw his newly wedded wife, Lilly, humming softly in the kitchen, her smile now brighter than the morning light.“Good morning, My darling wife,” Justin said as he wrapped his arms around her from behind in the kitchen. She laughed as she turned around to face him. “Good morning, my lovely husband. How does it feel to wake up as a married man?”“It feels perfect,” he said in response, with his voice warm with conviction. “No matter what happens, we will make this work.”Lilly nodded with her eyes sparkling with hope. “We will baby. Together.”He leaned in to kiss her softly, she also responded in equal measure as they both share a passionate morning kiss. The first few weeks of their marriage were filled optimism. They had little mone
Lilly turned to face him with her eyes full of curiosity. “What do you mean?”“I mean, we have always known that we wnated to be together, but now that we have graduated, I think it is time to take that next and necessary step,” he said as his heart pounded in his chest.“Lilly, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to build a future with you, no matter what it takes.”Lilly's eyes softened, her expression was that of warmth and love. “I have always known that for a long time, Justin. But hearing you say it….”Her voice trailed off as she reached for his hand, intertwining their fingers. “I want that too. I want to spend forever with you.”Justin smiled brightly as a wave of relief and happiness wash over him. He had spent so much of his life trying to fight for everything he had, but in this moment, everything felt right. They had built something beautiful together, a love, a partnership, and a future.“I am glad,” he said with sincerity in his voice. “Because I want t
The sound of applause echoed through the grand hall as Justin and Lilly stood side by side, caps and gowns in place, their hearts pounding with the weight of the moment. They had made it.After years of struggles, sacrifices, and relentless effort, they had finally reached the pinnacle of their academic journey. The Graduation Day.Justin's eyes met that of Lilly's in the crowded hall, her smile very bright against the sea of graduates. There was a quiet understanding between them , a shared sense of accomplishment that no words could truly capture. This was their moment, the culmination of everything they had fought for, everything they had built together in school. As the ceremony progressed, with speeches and ceremonial rituals, Justin could not help but reflect on the path that had brought him here.He thought about the days he had spent working multiple jobs, the nights he had spent studying while struggling to stay awake, and the moments when he had doubted whether it would all
They both sat in silence for a moment, both of them were lost in thought as they contemplate about the future they could create. They had always supported each other through everything, through the late nights studying, the financial struggles, the pressure from Lilly's family. But at the moment, as they both neared the end of their college journey, it felt like the foundation they had been building for the past few years was finally starting to take shape.“What do you see for us?” She finally asked quietly, her voice almost tentative.Justin looked at her, noticing the faint determination in her eyes. He could see that the she was becoming a woman, the woman she had always been, strong, capable, and dull of ambition. But he also saw the depth of love she had for him, the willingness to fight for those times and what they shared.“I can see us creating a life together,” he answered her slowly, thinking carefully about his words. “I see us working together, building something that is
The sun had barely risen as it casted a golden hue over the sprawling campus. Justin was sitting on the steps outside Lilly's apartment, his girlfriend, waiting for her to finish her morning routine. It was a rare moment of calm for him before the chaos of the day starts. His mind wandered back to the previous months, everything he and Lilly had gone through so far, everything they had overcome. It had not been easy but somehow, they both had managed to build something that felt solid, something that felt real and did not waver under the fears Lilly had.The door creaked open, and Lilly stepped outside, her hair ties backwards in a loose bun, a mug of coffee in her hand. She offered Justin a very tired smile, one that spoke volumes more than any words could.“Good morning,” Justin greeted her, his voice filled with affection as always.“Good morning to you too,” Lilly replied him as she sat down beside him, her body leaning against his in that comfortable way that had become second na
Justin's heart ached as he realized the depth of her internal struggle. He could see that it was not just about her family's disapproval, it was also about her fear of failing, her fear of choosing him and losing everything she had worked for.“Lilly, listen to me,” he said as he took her face in his hands. “I am not asking you to risk everything. I am asking you to take a chance on us. We have got dreams, we have got our ambition. We will figure it out, together. I promise you.”But even as he said those words, he knew it was not just her family that was a challenge. There were also the harsh realities of his financial struggles and hers as a student.Despite his part time job at the coffee shop and the small scholarships he had earned due to his academic brilliance since he got to college, money was always right. He saw the way Lilly pinched pennies too sometimes, the way she hesitated before spending on anything big or small atimes, like a coffee or a new textbook. The weight of th
The sound of raindrops tapping against the windows was the first thing Justin heard as he sat in the dimly lit living room of Lilly's small apartment. He had come to spend the evening with her after a long week of exams, but the atmosphere was not exactly the way he wanted it. There was evident tension in the air. Lilly had not been her usual self lately and it was easily noticeable. She seemed distant, her usual warmth had been replaced by an underlying sense of worry that she herself could not shake off. When she finally joined on the couch in the room, her expression was tired, her shoulders slumped in a way that spoke volumes. She had been quiet ever since she arrived, and Justin could feel the storm that seems to be brewing beneath the surface. He turned to her and asked gently. “Lilly,” he said as he took her hand in his softly. “Is anything the problem? What is going in?”She looked him, her eyes hoping to find some form of understanding in his face. She sighed before replyin
