“You what?” Mr. Owen’s voice roared inside his office when he heard Elisha’s proposal in adjusting the wedding in a month.

“I already told Matthias. And isn’t a week of preparation too rushed? What will you do if Matthias will became suspicious of your actions?” Elisha reasoned out to her father, eyes determined to make her request approved.

“Are you the one making the plans here? Do you think you’re better than me?” Mr. Owen rebutted. “You…”

A sigh.

When he can’t express the words of refusal to Elisha, Mr. Owen just threw the ashtray on top of his table to Elisha’s head, making a mess of cigarette butts on her hair.

“Just make sure that you don’t thwart my plans any further or else…things will be bad for you and your mother.”

When Elisha left Mr. Owen’s office, she immediately called her mother to ask about her well-being.

“Ma, how are you feeling today?” she asked.

“I’m fine now. Anyway, what did that person tell you today? Haven’t I already warned you before not to talk with him?”
