Chapter 103
"Don't call me, Sergeant."

"Aren't you a sergeant?" He said upclose.

"It sounds uncomfortable coming from you."

"What do I call you then?"

"Nothing." She whispered.

Zack groaned in long-suffering knowing that she was being serious. She was boggling him down with all this overthinking.

"What's wrong?"

"We're having dinner. Tonight."

They sat back and Arwatt her father and Mayne gazed at their plate of food.

"I made them especially for you."

Mayne lifted a piece of bacon repugnantly. "What is this?"

Arwatt dug into his dinner without thinking twice. "I suppose I can eat after all that walking."

"There's more where that came from. I overcooked."

"I am not complaining." Arwatt said.

"This is where you live?" Mayne said. She winced at a cockroach scaling up the wall, her skin crawled and Seymour lunged to grab it. The paint chipped off.

"An organic pest control service. I like it." Arwatt said.
