Although he didn't know where he was going, he had an inexplicable certainty that he'd find shelter.

As far as his eyes would go, he could see broken buildings and large rocks. This sight gave him some hope that he'd find shelter.

In a way, these rocks helped him. They served as a good hideout when beasts approached.
