A sudden thought attacked my mind and made me sit up in a jump.
The black sweater guy…. Could he be the hacker? It can't be. Am I going crazy? But it makes sense.
"My arm…," Aki complained hoarsely.
My jump had flung her arm backward. She rolled over some so she faced up.
"Sorry. Did I hurt you?"
She shook her head. "Why did you wake up? A nightmare?"
"No." I sighed. "You'd worry if I told you it's nothing or not to worry about it, wouldn't you?"
"Obviously."
I stared down at the blanket before continuing. "Do you remember the fan that shook your hands?"
The interrogation lasted ten minutes. Although Mr. Mochizuki asked similar questions to what he had asked the first time I had come, he added a few more specific to the current situation. "That wraps it up for now. Thank you for your cooperation," he said. "Your findings will be of great help to solve this case once and for all." "I'm just doing anything I can to prevent something similar from happening again, whether I'm the victim or anyone else." "That's good to hear," he smirked. I stood up to head out. However, he stopped me. "Mr. Miyahara," he called me. "May I get a little personal?" I expected anything but that. "Sure…,"
Even though we had secured three more shows, the day didn't end on a high note. I waited for everyone to go home and Aki waited for me. I walked her to her apartment before heading to my Business Administration lecture. As usual, Professor Fuku sat at her desk when I entered the room, waiting for the students to arrive. I approached her. "Good evening, Professor Fuku," I smiled. "Good evening, Miyahara. You seem content today. Is it because you finished your project?" "Actually, it is practically finished. I'll just add more details over the coming month until the deadline." "Wonderful," she smiled. "Seeing you doing well makes me very happy." For a moment, we stared at each
Half of the workday had passed. I sat at my desk, doing my daily work and chatting with Aya and Tomokazu to come up with new ideas, when Aki knocked on the glass door of the office. "Come in," I said. She entered the room. "It's not common for someone to come here," I continued. "Did something happen?" "Can't I just come to see my Galactical Prince?" "Bleh," Aya uttered in disgust. I sighed. "I'd prefer if you called me by my name while we're at work." "That's not what you say when we…. Nevermind. Alright, Boss. I'm here to ask you if you're available tonight." The question caught m
Aki and her parents promptly frowned as soon as I said that. I kept smiling, sitting between my parents. "Can you elaborate?" Aki's father asked. "Sure," I replied, taking a moment to formulate my words. "I started a widget repairing business as soon as I turned sixteen." "You did?" Aki said. "Obviously, I know nothing about technology. I convinced a classmate to start the business with me, she was a genius. People came to repair stuff like their glasses or antique computers. We quickly became popular in the neighborhood. However, even though she was incredibly fast at repairing stuff, we got to a point where we couldn't keep up with the requests." I paused to take a deep breath. Dad placed his hand on my shoulder and mi
The show was a success and the two next ones were no exception. The second place we performed at was the bar I had gone to before. Opposite to my initial visit, when the manager was rude and disrespectful, he was kind and helpful this time. As much as I hated to deal with such two-faced people, and wanted to give him a taste of his own medicine, I wouldn't lower myself to that level. The third and last place was a small restaurant in a mall not too far from HQ. It wasn't located in the center of the city, but it was close. After the shows, the girls could barely move. I wanted to give them a week-long break but they refused. Somehow, they ended up bargaining for a two-day-long break instead. However, that didn't mean the rest of us had nothing to do. B
Only one van arrived in front of HQ. The merchandise had been sent to the mall the day before, meaning we didn't need to take any extra equipment to the fan meeting. The hacker controversy had died down a lot since it happened, so we didn't struggle to walk out of the building and get into the van. We were recurring customers for the van company, so they already knew what to expect. The driver also recognized us, which was a pleasant surprise for everyone. Miki and Satō weren't needed for anything during the fan meeting, so I gave them the day off. We reviewed the itinerary for the day as we drove to the mall, the same one where the restaurant we had performed at before was located. It took ten minutes to reach because of the traffic. To avoid disturbing people not i
A sudden memory attacked my mind when the picture was taken. I opened it on my glasses to see a completely different face on him, the face of a girl; my ex-colleague. Chiharu?! Behind the transparent picture, the hacker deviously smirked at me. I could see it now; the way she spoke, her manners, her weird sense of humor, and the aggressiveness with which she tackled things. The hacker was Chiharu, using HoloForm and other technologies to appear to be a guy. "Looks like you saw a ghost," she smirked. "In fact, you actually did. Let me fix that for you." The picture on my glasses disappeared for a split second and appeared again, now with the guy's face in it instead of Chiharu's. I stood frozen. "Cat got your ton
The fan meeting ended without any more problems and the merchandise sold out long before that. Had it not been for the Chiharu and Aki's ex-classmate situations, it would've been a perfect day. They kept giving me headaches throughout the day and I was sure it was the same with Aki, who did an incredible job hiding any discomfort, despite the situation. We returned to HQ with less than an hour left of the shift, so I decided to call it an early day. Tomokazu went home first as usual, while the girls changed back into their regular clothes before leaving. Aya went home with Astra, and Butcher went home with Sanae and Risa. Aki, Umi, and I walked home together. We dropped Umi off at her apartment, and Aki and I headed to mine. She jumped onto the bed as soon as we entered. "Do you want to eat dinner?" I asked.
