CHAPTER 3- THE HOPE OF SILANG TRIBE

People looking at the basket that Lue and Bard brings, other kids is amaze about the basket.

While Uncle zeek bragging his basket in the place of the master craftsman on their tribe, (tribe craftsman is the one in charge making their bone knives wooden mace and other weapon)they are all amaze at the work of Gab they acknowledge Gab's talent, just from making a basket.they are wondering how an 8 year old boy make a masterpiece like this.

Gab Decided to teach the women in his tribe making a basket, he asked a permission from the tribesman chief, his father Dirgo.Gab father listen to his ideas about giving a role for the women of their tribe.

Dirgo agreed he says it was a very good idea,and he will give his support.while proudly looking at his son.

Gab ask another favor from his father,this is to help him create his another invention.and to collect materials for it.

Gab said that he invented another item that can help tribe food supply ,His father is wondering what it is but he was also delighted that it can help their food supply,Dirgo agreed to his favors.and also give a permission to command other tribesman people,Gab smile at his dad and says "thankyou dad" Dirgo's heart was a melted because of the cuteness of his son.

Dirgo give announcement that after 2 days they will teach women how to make a basket and footwear, Dirgo announced to the people that from now on women's role is to make handicraft and he will give another role in the near future.

People is confused about it, there's have some against giving work to a woman, but Dirgo is the chief the strong is the law in their tribe, so they decided to give their wife a permission to go.

some Women are all exited they can't sleep thinking about it

*AFTER 2 DAYS

Gab gathered all of the woman. He will teach them. they are not sure about it theres people who come because the cheif says to come, theres some who is exited especially Herla Gab's mom and his aunt Nemu because at the first time they will make something interesting,because woman in the tribe doesn't do anything except sleeping,cooking cleaning and eating, at last they will have a role in their society.

*Gab started Giving a speech for the opening act.

"Good morning I am Gab son of the chief now I am 8 years old next 2 weeks I'm turning 9,I am researching things that can help out every day life,I will teach you guys how to make basket,sandals,and preserving a meat."

*Gab Started to give the heart warming part of the speech.to fire up the people.

"GUYS PROMISE SOMEDAY IM GONNA CHANGE OUR LIFE, I WILL GONNA MAKE YOU GUYS EAT TO YOUR FILL EVEN IN THE WINTER, COLD WILL NO PROBLEM.

ALL OF YOU CAN WALK OUTSIDE AT NIGHT WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT YOUR SAFETY, I WILL GIVE ALL OF YOU SAFE PLACE TO SLEEP AT NIGHT, WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT MONSTER RAMPAGING IN OUR CAVE.

I WILL GIVE PROPER EDUCATION IN THIS TRIBE THIS IS THE BEGGINING,I WILL RESEARCH MAKING MEDICINE TO SAVE PEOPLE IN OUR TRIBE,I ONLY NEED IS YOUR SUPPORT TO MAKE IT TRUE.

ARE YOU GONNA LEAVE AND DONT THINK ABOUT IT AND PRETEND TO BE BLIND AND DONT WORK OUR ASS OFF,OR BE TIRED TASTING THE FRUITS OF YOUR EFFORTS,I CANNOT DO THIS ALONE.ARE YOU GONNA JOIN HANDS WITH ME TO MY GOAL?

*tears drop from their eyes,from the boy speech about suffering,and his plan,the little kid the son of the chief care about them.

people are confused if the boy speaking infront of them is really 8year old kid,but the speech was so powerful it move their hearts completely, they remember their suffering every winter,

Every month a monster is attacking their cave,the people that hear his speech starts to lit the fire in their hearts,they want it safe place to stay,they want to eat even if it is winter they want a more comfortable life,so even though the one who speak about it is a little boy,they cling to the little hope Infront of them

Gab looking at them he saw them that now they are in condition,they are all inspired to work hard,for their brand new dream.

he started to give instructions in making a basket .

gab observing,he look at them,he saw that they are focused on what they do especially his mom but his mom struggling.

he saw his mom struggling in making a basket and sandals.he go to the direction of his mom to give some tips and tricks,"Mom you need to do this insert the strap,and put Kauna to the lower part braid it to the side to make it tougher,"his mom thank him,and he go the direction of his aunty.

"Aunt Nemu you need to do it like this and curve this so you can achieve the round shape of the basket" nemu replied "so this is why I can't make it round,thanks Gab"

he go back to the center and try to get their attention.

"Look every one this is how you make a strap for the basket so you can carry it on your back.

The girls are following his instructions and they are all focus on what they are doing, all of them succeed, making their own basket,they all happy on their own accomplishment ,and the little girls ask Gab if he can teach them another things that can be usefull.

"look guys I have another thing to teach you"

the little girl raised her hand to ask Gab,gab respond yes you can,"Gab is that what you call a sandals.?"

Gab replied " Yes I call it a sandal this is a protective wear in your feet,so even if you are walking in the rocks you will not feel anything,sandals will protect your feet.

The girls and elderly woman are wondering, he call his father ato get the size of his feet, he says the chief must be the first to try it so he started making it.

GAB START TEACHING THEM

*"First you need to get both of the foot sizes and there you get the size of the foot by tracing it on the floor.Gab trace using charcoal."

-The people is amaze how resourceful he is

*"Second is braid the Kauna grass like this by this long.

The people are focus on braiding their Kauna grasses patiently one by one after one hour they finished it.

Herla and nemu ask Gab if they are doing the right thing,Gab replies yeah guys your doing great.

*Third is to knot it around, until you achieve the size of the feet repeat it two time's and make another one.

*Fourth is to insert another braided Kauna alternately to thicken the foundation of the sandals. Tie it in the position of Y like this this. This part is where you insert the fingers in your footh like this to hold the sandal.

The man in their tribe looking at Gab with admiration,and respect because when they are hunting they need to run,some times their feet get injured by the branches and shard rocks.

They asked Dirgo if he teach his son how to make that,Dirgo replies " no I don't even know how to make it. Maybe it was his talent,"but I always kept seeing him drawing in the wall something.

Zeek adds that he thinks that Gab is a true prodigy that can help the tribe.

Some of the young man hear their fathers conversation about Gab,they are fired up they also want to get praised by their parents, so they continued to their training.

Gab call his father and ask him if he can wear the sandals.

Gab teach his father how to usewear the sandals,and after wearing it, Gab ask his father to run around the Cave to test the sandals.

Dirgo run around to test it in the cave while wearing the sandals and give a comment about it.

People look at Dirgo not getting slipped even though the cave have moss.

Dirgo says that the sandals was very comfortable, and asked his son if he can keep it so he can run to chase his prey, when he will going out to hunt.

Gab agreed and gave him another one, so if it got destroyed he have another one,Gab show to his father that he have another one for himself and his mother also make one for her own.so Dirgo accept two pair of sandals.

Zeek also try the sandals made by his wife nemu,zeek was very happy that he also get one so he cannot fall behind,from his older brother Dirgo.

After a while all of the women successfully, make their own sandals and they decided to make another one for their husband.

Gab give them 30 minutes of break he said that the most important thing will start, He said the he will teach them how to preserve food.

Gab ask his father if he can call all people in the cave the cave men and mechildren, Dirgo command the warriors to call other people,

people rush to the place where the meeting held, they don't know why they are called, the master craftsman looking at the sandals and basket Amaze by Gab, because he succeed teach lazy women of their tribe,making a complex craft.

the craftsman walk into Gab direction and said.

"Son of the chief,you are a true prodigy"

do you have any other invention?like weapon and tool?"

Gab replied that he have a lot of invention,some of it is a weapon.

the craftsman is wondering how it look,what it is, how to make it,the craftsman is fired up, he asked if Gab can come to his place after this program.Gab kindly agreed.Thr craftsman leave and fired up.

*Gab continue to explain how to preserve a meat.he say's that even after 2 months the meat is still edible if it is well preserve. he says that every 3 weeks it needs to get smoked again. to avoid from rotting.

Gab says to follow him outside the cave because it involves using a fire.people follow him out side.

Gab grab some fire wood, after that he grab a bamboo stick he skewered the meat in the bamboo, When fire is started to get big he sprinkle some water to the fire, the fire started to make a lot of smoke.

the people are confused why did he make it? whats the purpose.

old man Weyn father or Lue and bard ask the if it was good taste if it's apetizing

Gab smiled and kindly replying to, that smoking the meat will remove the moisture,it helps avoid spoilage at the same time it enhanced the flavor, and iit adds smokey taste that make it even more appetizing, he kept using minimal terms so people at their tribes can understand him,people look at him as if he is a saviour because if preserving a meat will succeed, they will never starve again in winter,they don't need to keep anxious about the winter that last for 2 months,

Gab added that this process is not only applicable about animal meat even fish can be preserved by smoking.

He also show his dried fruit, he also said that

Some fruits and vegetables suitable for drying include apples, pears, peaches, plums, apricots, bananas, cantaloupe, strawberries, blueberries, carrots, celery, corn, green beans, potatoes, and tomatoes. Fruits can also be dried as fruit leathers and rolls.

he says that it can be preserved for all year around,he says that preserved fruit still taste good and nutritious.

They are all amazed?but they are wondering how Gab know all about this things ,Gab is still 8 years old kid.people started to whisper that Gab is a gift of God,they think that Gab hear God words.

One person can't handle his curiousity and he is the tribe biggest glutton 'Ames' the Giant (from latin it means glutton and hungry).

"Sir Gab may I know where you learned it,how did you know the process of preserving.)

(Gab smiled and make a white lie scenario)

"I started researching it while I was 5 years old,I was always a curious kid that wondering how things work, so I started my own research for at least 4 years but now I decided to make use of my research.

elders clap at him they said that if it was true,they need to give Gab a reward for his accomplishments.such as finding his own wife.or giving him early previllage as having 4 wife(in their tribe polygamy is only for great man who accomplished great feat).

Girl from age 10 to 16 looking at Gab Endearly,they know that Gab is a complete package,handsome,strong,genius,kind and great.The competition for Gab's attention starts from now on after hearing elders words.

Gab smiling awkward because of the little girls competition,while Herla and Dirgo is Proud because the Elders acknowledge his son.(the authority of 8 elders is higher than a chief.

Gab try to change topic,and show how preserving process can be done,they easily follow Gab's instructions,

After smoking the fish or meat, You need to cover it using a dried banana leaves in the basket.

they saw the birth of the process of preserving food,all of them are happy that they will survive for the next winter.

In the cave Gab is always the main topic every one is amaze because for the first time,they saw a ray of hope for their tribe.

they hope that Gab will win Grand Bout and become a chief that will be held after 5years.
