Chapter 1

"Mr. Lonan, you must pay the hospital bill of five hundred thousand dollars immediately so we can perform surgery on Mr. Karran." A woman dressed in all white stretched out her hand and handed a paper to Lonan.

Lonan accepted it with trembling hands. It was a record of the hospital bill that needed to be paid immediately. Lonan looked at it intently. Until the sound of heavy breathing was heard.

Five hundred thousand dollars, back then, was a very small amount of money for him. He should be able to pay it easily. But for now, he didn't even have the slightest money.

"Where am I going to get that much money?" Lonan muttered in confusion. Five hundred thousand dollars was a lot of money for him.

Before this, the Karran family was wealthy and influential in the city. They had a thriving business before finally, the family encountered a sudden problem. A confidant committed a huge insult that ruined the Karran family's business, and their family assets have now been confiscated without a trace. And with that incident, Lonan's father, Adam Karran, suffered a sudden heart attack.

"Mr. Lonan, you need to pay the bill immediately. We need to start the surgery in two hours, or it will be too late. Excuse me." The nurse quickly left Lonan's presence.

Lonan stared at the nurse's departure, holding the bill so tightly that he squeezed it slightly. Everything felt so heavy for him. Then, his gaze fell on his father, who was still unconscious. Several medical devices were attached to his body.

Lonan sighed again. He walked over and looked at his father's pale face.

"Dad, wait. I'll get help right away. I will work for your recovery." Lonan held his father's hand for a while before he finally left the room.

Lonan walked with a muddled mind. He didn't know where to go, he had been trying to contact some of his father's relatives, but none answered. Some had even blocked Lonan's number.

"How could they do this?" Lonan muttered in disappointment.

His father used to be loyal to his siblings and provide whatever help they needed, but now they seemed to have disappeared into thin air.

Lonan decided to go to his aunt's house this time with no other choice. He remembered that his aunt used to ask for help, so they had a good relationship.

Currently, Lonan is at his aunt's house. The woman gave Lonan a fierce look after hearing what Lonan had come here for.

"Are you crazy? Five hundred thousand dollars? That is a huge amount of money, and we don't have that much. This isn't a charity center, and you shouldn't come here to ask for donations." The woman named Ella shouted loudly in front of Lonan.

When Ella heard that her brother had gone bankrupt, she immediately wanted to sever her ties with the Karran family.

Lonan looked at her in disbelief. "What do you mean, auntie? I only came to borrow and not ask. After all, father has always done you a favor." Lonan clarified.

The woman sneered at him. Lonan's explanation made her want to get angry even more. "I don't have any money. Don't ever beg in front of me. We're struggling right now. You should know better, so just leave." Ella looked away from Lonan. She hoped that he would soon leave her presence.

Without looking at Lonan, the woman spoke, "Besides, your father is old, and if he dies, it's not a serious problem. Everyone will die. What difference does it make if he dies now or in the next few years?"

Lonan clenched his fists at his aunt's words. Of course, Lonan did not like her aunt's hurtful words. "You are so ungrateful. All this time, you have been helped by my father. But I know my father helped a dog who doesn't know himself."

Lonan's words made Ella stare at him even harder. Of course, she didn't accept it when Lonan said he was a dog. "Get the hell out of here. You daughter of a bitch!"

Ella immediately grabbed a small chair beside her and threw it at Lonan. But it missed without hitting Lonan's body.

Lonan left with a flushed face. The veins on his neck and head were prominent because of his anger. But he did not have time to keep wrestling in his anger. He had to act quickly to get the money before it was too late.

At this moment, Lonan recalled the nurse's words. "I must get it immediately, and before two hours, I must return to the hospital."

Amidst his frustration, Lonan remembered his girlfriend, Nancy. She had a good relationship with Nancy. Lonan was actually very reluctant to ask Nancy for help. He thought that a man was the one who was on top and would do anything for his woman. But it seemed Lonan had to suppress his ego for now.

Lonan swallowed his bitterness. For now, he decided to go to Nancy's house. "She will definitely help me," Lonan muttered with confidence.

Lonan had just gotten out of the taxi and walked into the yard of Nancy's house, but his forehead was immediately filled with frowns when he saw that the house was having a party.

"What's going on? Why didn't Nancy say anything to me about this party?" He muttered under his breath, looking at the several women walking around in bikinis.

The party was even more lavish, and many people were there. There were lights everywhere, and people were swimming in the pool.

"Why didn't Nancy invite me?" Lonan felt quite strange. But for a moment, he dismissed the questions in his mind.

Lonan stepped back to look for Nancy's whereabouts. He looked around every corner, but he didn't see Nancy there. Finally, Lonan chose to enter Nancy's open house.

Lonan's steps immediately stopped, and his heart stopped beating for a few moments when he saw Nancy, who was currently wrapping her arms around a man, and they were kissing passionately. And what a surprise it was when the man was someone he knew very well. He was Lonan’s Best friend -Danish.

Lonan was furious. He immediately pulled Nancy's body until the kiss was immediately broken. "What are you doing? How could you do this?"

Nancy almost fell down, but she quickly removed her hands from Lonan. Even her face showed no fear at all.

The woman, who was also wearing a bikini, looked at Lonan sarcastically. "Lonan, all relationships have their time. And right now, Danish and I are dating." Nancy replied very casually. No guilt could be seen on her face or in her eyes. This made Lonan very hurt.

Lonan removed his hand from Nancy's grip. His gaze was fixed on the man who had been his best friend. "How could you do this? You're dating my best friend?" He could hardly believe that they were betraying him.
