Chapter 4: For humanity!

Elvis faced a three-headed Medusa serpent, a creature that sent shivers down even the most formidable of warriors. Its slimy scales shimmered in the dim light, its eyes glinting with a predatory intelligence. Its three heads swayed ominously as it sized up its opponent, clearly spoiling for a fight.

The young dragon, Elvis, sprang into action with lightning reflexes, unsheathing his "Water Blade" to strike preemptively against the three-headed Medusa serpent. With a deft flick of his wrist, he severed the middle head, leaving only the two remaining on either side. The creature hissed in fury, its remaining heads lunging forward in a desperate attempt to claim revenge.

Undaunted, Elvis sprang into action, his movements fluid and graceful. With each blow, he danced around the serpent, darting in and out of range, using his water-based attacks to keep the beast off-balance. But the serpent was no pushover. It lashed out with razor-sharp fangs, its breath hot and fetid as it snapped at the dragon's heels.

In response, Elvis unleashed his "Fireball" skill, a burst of flame erupting from his mouth and engulfing the serpent in a searing inferno. The creature writhed and twisted, but Elvis was relentless, pressing his advantage and unleashing another volley of attacks.

As the smoke cleared, Elvis surveyed the damage he had wrought. The serpent lay charred and motionless, its scales smoldering in the aftermath of the dragon's assault.

As the flames subsided, Elvis couldn't help but revel in his tactical prowess. "Hehehe, I am a genius," he chuckled to himself. However, his elation was short-lived when he realized that his quick thinking had left the serpent's remains burnt to a crisp. In a moment of desperation, he cast his gaze about, seeking any remaining remnants of the creature.

Spotting one of the Medusa serpent's heads, Elvis hesitated before forcing himself to swallow it whole. Though the act was repugnant, he hoped to gain at least one of the serpent's skills. After roasting the head, he utilized his "Devourer" ability to consume the serpent's remains.

[Skill gained: Eye of Petrification]

Through the haze of his aftertaste, he analyzed the knowledge he had gained from the serpent's remains, eventually discovering the "Eye of Petrification" skill. Pondering the serpent's name, he couldn't help but shake his head in awe of its fearsome power.

Elvis continued on his journey, encountering various monsters along the way. While some posed no challenge to him, others he wisely avoided, knowing that discretion was often the better part of valor.

Elvis, a young dragon, possessed an innate understanding of his own limits, and knew better than to tempt fate by challenging a formidable monster needlessly. He was not driven by avarice or hubris to acquire the abilities of his foes, and would only engage in battle when his survival depended upon it.

After spending two grueling weeks navigating the treacherous mountain terrain, Elvis emerged a more powerful creature, having acquired a host of valuable skills and abilities.

[Name:... (Elvis)]

[Race: young dragon]

[Abilities: fire, water, devourer, regeneration]

[Skills: water manipulation, fire manipulation, eye of Medusa , steel body, perfect mimicry, heat sensor, poison]

[Resistance: Cold immunity; pain resistance; fire resistance]

He could summon flames at will, manipulate water, regenerate his wounds, and consume his enemies to mimic their forms perfectly. His scales had become as strong as steel, a trait he had acquired from the mighty restal lizard, and he could detect heat with remarkable accuracy, a gift bestowed upon him by a band of cunning snakes.

Elvis stood at the mouth of the cave, his expansive wings elegantly tucked behind his back as he surveyed the world before him. He inhaled deeply, relishing the crisp mountain air, and let out a contented sigh. "This is what it means to be free," he mused, a broad grin creeping across his face. "No more dank caverns, no more fearsome beasts. I am finally free!"

With newfound vigor, Elvis set off, running and leaping through the verdant forest with wild abandon. Yet, as his initial enthusiasm waned, he began to ponder his next steps. "What now?" he wondered aloud. "I must find a safe haven, and sustenance to keep me strong."

Hours trickled by as he combed through the dense forest, scouring for the perfect haven to call his own. At long last, he stumbled upon a petite cavern resembling a bear's abode. With caution etched on his face, he gingerly approached the burrow, fearing the possibility of ferocious beasts lurking inside.

To his relief, the hollow was deserted, and he nestled himself within its confines. Despite his fatigue, he remained vigilant, ready for any peril that may arise. As the moments ticked by, and no danger presented itself, he eventually succumbed to a serene slumber.

For Elvis, life as a youthful dragon bereft of a mother was a constant battle, yet he was steadfast in his determination to survive.

Meanwhile, within the illustrious precincts of the human kingdom, an array of knights and adventurers congregated before the regal castle, a spectacle of gleaming armor and vivid banners. Two grand knights, trumpet in hand, took their place on the castle balcony, awaiting the arrival of their sovereign.

With a resounding blast of brass, the trumpets heralded the entrance of King Raymond, accompanied by his trusted ministers. The knights and adventurers prostrated themselves before the monarch in reverence, pledging their unwavering fealty to him.

"Long live his majesty!" they proclaimed in unison.

King Raymond, surveying the assembled masses, turned to his ministers. "Your majesty, these are the forces we have amassed for the impending raid," spoke the minister on the king's left.

"Excellent," replied King Raymond. "This assemblage of knights and adventurers should suffice. Sending the adventurers alongside the knights is a judicious decision."

With a solemn nod, the king began to address the adventurers

The king's voice boomed across the courtyard, commanding the attention of his audience. His words were measured and deliberate, spoken with the weight of a man who knew the gravity of the situation at hand.

"Listen well," he proclaimed, his eyes scanning the faces of the assembled adventurers. "Although you have some knowledge of the mission at hand, I shall now impart the full details upon you. The threat we face is a grave one, and all of humanity is in peril."

A palpable fear began to take hold of those gathered, but King Raymond, ever attuned to the emotions of his subjects, sought to restore their courage.

"Fear not, my brave warriors of the human kingdom. This threat, though ominous, has only arisen in the past two weeks. You are the shining hope of humanity, and I have faith in your bravery and strength."

The words of their king ignited a spark within the adventurers, emboldening them to stand tall against the looming danger.

"Yes, your majesty is correct," echoed one adventurer.

"We have nothing to fear," chimed another.

"As long as we strike down this threat before it grows too strong," added a third.

With a warm smile, King Raymond commanded their attention once more.

"I charge you, my knights and adventurers, with the elimination of any monster that does not belong in the forest or mountains. Strike down any beast that poses a threat to our kingdom."

The adventurers cried out in unison, their spirits soaring as they pledged their loyalty to the cause.

"Yes, your majesty!"

"For humanity!"

And with these words, King Raymond's aura of leadership shone ever brighter.
