Baseless Accusation

Noah Smith adjusts the collar of her son Micah's shirt as they enter the grand ballroom at the city's most prestigious event. Micah tugged at her hand, his eyes wide with excitement at the sumptuous surroundings. Noah, accustomed to the glitz and splendor of such gatherings, scanned the room with a practiced eye, her elegant gown catching the light as she moved.

As they mingled among the guests, Noah noticed a woman watching her intently from across the room. The woman's gaze was cold, her lips forming a thin line of disapproval. Ignoring the uncomfortable feeling in her stomach, Noah continued to chat with the other guests, trying to enjoy the evening.

Noah's heart skipped a beat as she exchanged a confused look with Micah. "Pardon?" she said, surprised by the unexpected accusation.

"Yes, you heard," the woman continued, her voice rising in anger.
