The New Girlfriend

William continued his pace, looking right and left at the shops he passed. There might be a shop that needed workers, so he could apply. It didn't matter what kind of job it was, as long as he could earn money to survive.

After walking for a while, William arrived at the electronics store where he worked before. He thought that it was possible that the store hadn't found a replacement for him yet. Some of the store's customers looked disgustedly at William, they turned up their noses and quickly walked away.

"Gosh, what the hell is that? What would a poor person like him come to this electronics store for? It looks like he can't even buy food."

"When did he leave here? He's disgusting!"

The store's customers began to comment because they were uncomfortable with the arrival of William who looked so bad and had wet clothes. Despite knowing that the shop customers were uncomfortable, William was forced to endure the stares because he had to meet the shop owner.

"What did you come here for?" asked Benjamin, the owner of the electronics store.

"Sir, perhaps you still need employees for this store. Maybe I can still work here?" asked William.

Benjamin looked at William from foot to head. Actually William was a skilled employee, but seeing his appearance like a bum made him uncomfortable.

"No, I don't need any more employees. Your contract is up and I don't need you anymore. Get out of here, you're just annoying my customers!"

Carrying his disappointment, William walked out of the shop. He should have realized that this was the world for poor people like him. He used to work in that shop wholeheartedly, doing more than his fair share of work. However, when his usefulness had expired, he was discarded and forgotten. Yes, a poor person like him is just a pawn in a chess piece that can be replaced by someone else. In the hierarchy, he is at the very bottom.

If only William's dream in the hologram room came true, then he would be leading at the top of the pyramid. He has the money to run the wheels of the world to revolve around him. It's foolish to think that money can't buy everything because there's really nothing you can do if you don't have money.

William's steps were getting slower and his shoulders were dropping. He was really back to his old self when he first ran away from the orphanage, useless and penniless. Maybe tonight he would have to sleep in the underground station like before, making friends with rats and insects. Further away from the electronics store, a black car stopped right beside the sidewalk William was walking on.

A man wearing a black suit got out of the car and approached William. "Good morning, Mr. William Smith," he greeted while bowing in salute.

William's brow furrowed at the sight of the man he didn't recognize. "Who are you?"

The man straightened up and introduced himself. "I am Gregori Baker, your personal assistant. Please forgive me for being late in picking you up."

"Personal assistant? What does an unemployed man like me have a personal assistant for?"

"You are Mr. William Smith, the owner of Emerald Corp. At this time I will escort you to your mansion."

William's body stiffened and he did not move at all. The events in the hologram room were not a dream.

"Do you mean the mansion on Sunwest Road?" asked William.

"Yes, sir." Gregori walked to the side of the car and opened the car door for William. "Please get in, I'll take you right away."

William had read about the car in one of the old magazines he had picked up. It was a brand new car that was powered by electricity. The body was covered with bulletproof B6 ballistic steel. In addition, the cabin is also equipped with an oxygen supply that can make the air in the car always fresh. No wonder William felt that the car was fresher than on the street.

"Sir, your wallet and cellphone are in the bag beside you," said Gregori, who was already in the driving seat.

The bag Gregori was referring to was on the seat next to William. He quickly took the bag and opened it, then took out a brand-new cell phone and a wallet made of crocodile leather. The phone immediately displayed the home page after scanning William's fingerprints.

"Gregori, may I ask you a question?"

"Of course, sir. I am ready to answer all your questions."

"Are you one of Limitless Destiny's system admins?"

"Sorry, I don't understand what you mean."

"So how did you know that I was William Smith?"

"You are Mr. William Smith, my superior, the owner of Emerald Corp. It is my duty to serve you."

"So, you really don't know what the Limitless Destiny system is?"

"Sorry, I don't understand what you mean."

Although William was confused by Gregori's answer which was the same when he questioned about the Limitless Destiny system, he didn't want to press on. Whoever was behind the system was not important. Right now he should be thinking about his starving stomach.

"Gregori, I haven't eaten since morning. Maybe you can stop by the drive-THRU fast food restaurant up ahead," William pleaded.

As William wished, Gregori entered the fast food restaurant. William ordered food through drive-THRU. When he was about to pay, William opened his new wallet. He was surprised to see several black ATM cards and credit cards from International Express Bank, which is the largest bank in the world and can only be accessed by certain people. Reportedly, not quite one percent of the world's population can have savings in the bank because the requirements are quite strict.

"Did you have breakfast?" William asked Gregori.

"I have, sir. Please enjoy your brunch."

*.*.*.

The car driven by Gregori drove into the tall gate that opened automatically. A large lion statue stood in the center of the fountain building. William opened the windshield and poked his head out slightly to get a firsthand look at the mansion he would be living in.

The mansion was exactly as described on the screen in the Limitless Destiny system hologram room. It was white in color with four facades that had gold-colored carvings.

As the car stopped in front of the stairs, a male servant opened the door for William. He wasn't the only one there. From the first step to the front door of the mansion, there were other servants on the right and left sides.

"Welcome, Mr. William Smith. We have been waiting for your arrival," said the male servant who opened the car door for William earlier, the only one servant who wear a glasses. "I'm Dimash Fidget, the butler of the mansion. It's a pleasure to serve you!" he continued, bowing respectfully to William.

All the servants bowed to William as well. Uncomfortable with the atmosphere, William said, "Yes, I'm pleased to meet you Mr. Fidget and also the other servants. Stop bowing, don't be so stiff."

Simultaneously, the waiters who welcomed William stood up straight with their hands held in front of their stomachs. Gregori, who was beside William, invited William to continue his steps.

Gregori stopped in front of a plump man in a white uniform and chef's hat. "If that was Mr. Fidget, the butler. This man is the head chef of the mansion, his name is Paulo Belain."

Paulo bowed low for a moment before introducing himself. "I am Paulo Belain who will serve you whatever food you want."

William just nodded slowly as he was still at a loss as to how to respond. He was previously just a poor man who kept serving others. Now, he was a person who had many servants. How should he treat those servants? Should he treat them as he was treated when he was a servant? Or did he treat them the way he wanted to be treated when he was a servant?

"You must be very tired after this trip to the Mansion. I will escort you to your room. For today, your daily schedule is not yet in place, please enjoy your rest as tomorrow is a very busy day," Gregori explained.

Gregori led the way as they entered the mansion. In his entire life, William had never seen a house as big as the mansion. Not only was the design luxurious, typical of a classic European palace, the furnishings looked expensive and clean. The floor was also shiny and definitely made of alabaster.

The winding staircase has gold-colored bars and each step is covered with a red carpet. The high wall beside the staircase is dominated by glass so that the garden beside the mansion can be seen if the curtains are opened. In addition, in the center of the room there is a crystal chandelier that dangles from the ceiling of the room until it almost touches the floor. The crystal chandelier also has beautiful fake candles on it, giving the impression of classic luxury that is characteristic of the mansion.

"Would you like to take a tour of the mansion first?" asked Gregori after realizing that for the few minutes William had been staring around the mansion in awe.

William shook his head. "No, no, I really need to rest."

They continued up the stairs, then turned left towards the left wing of the mansion. Before reaching the end of the room, Gregori stopped in front of two large mahogany doors.

Gregori opened the door to the room. "This is your room."

"This is my room? I sleep here?" asked William amazed at his room.

The room had a domed roof with a golden ceiling in the center of which was a crystal chandelier. The walls were decorated with brass sculptures and right in front of the king-size carved wooden bed was a relaxing sofa directly opposite a wide TV that could be closed with curtains.

The door to the room opened to reveal a woman dressed in a sporty outfit of a pink polo shirt and a thigh-length skirt. Her curves were clearly visible and her smooth legs were long. To William's eyes, her face looked like a forest fairy with a sharp nose and large emerald-colored eyes. The woman ran up to William and hugged him.

"Babe, where have you been? I missed you so much."

William's body embraced by Noah Alexander was stiff as wood. He was being hugged by his idol, the woman he thought was the most beautiful in the world. Though he was already very satisfied with the wealth he had. With Noah as his partner, he felt that he was already in heaven.

Noah looked at William from head to toe. "Why do you look messed up like this, Babe? Looks like you need a bath, do you want me to give you one?"

"God bless me," said William.
