For some time, the drive was silent except for a few snores that came from the survivors within the truck.

BJ and the others had slept off as well.

As for me, I couldn't sleep. I could still hear the screams in my head and see the vivid images that flickered through my brain.

As I lay in place, looking through the window at the night sky, I recalled the past events that led up to that pivotal moment when everything changed.

We hadn't realized that the after-effects would be this unbearable. Hell, I even thought the rumours were strengthened by jobless and lazy people who didn't have better things to do.

The government hadn't said a thing at the time, so I wasn't inclined to believe the rumours. I thought we were safe, but now it turns out that the truly delusional one was myself.

It made me wonder what would have happened if it occurred years ago.
