I moved, and he proceeded to step towards the wide-open tailgate with a weapon in his grasp.

"Wait for me!" the bathrobed man shouted as he ran toward us with fear in his eyes.

"He's coming."

Bang!

"Please, wait for him!" One of the women screamed as she hit the wall of the truck so the driver could hear her.

Sofia was fast enough to retort. "The infected will kill us if we do so!"

"But—"

"Don't stop!" My sister was not as sympathetic as I was, and I couldn't blame her.

After what we went through last night, no one would want to be placed in that situation again.

The truck didn't stop. Behind the screaming man, the soldier kept on shooting at the infected that kept drawing closer to them.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

It was like watching a movie while seated in the front row. For the first time since this whole saga began, I was not a participant but a spectator.

"Run faster!"

"I saw some monkeys!"

"Please stop for him!"

"Is he your husband? Don't stop!"
