The chamber was shrouded in a heavy silence broken only by the faint crackling of torches and Leo Dubois's ragged breaths. Before him stood Scar, the once-beloved face of his father twisted and distorted by the malevolent deity that had taken hold. Leo's sword, gripped tightly in his trembling hands, hovered between them, its blade catching the dim light as Leo struggled to find words that could pierce the veil of darkness that now clouded his father's form.

"Why, father?" Leo's voice was barely a whisper, choked with emotion. "Why did you kill them all? Mother, and the rest of our clan... the healers. They were innocent."
