Evelyn Raven's funeral was a big event as she was a well respected and loved woman in North Hills.

High-profile individuals and even the first lady of the country graced her funeral.

After Evelyn Raven was laid to rest, the Raven family gathered the next day for a brief hearing of her will.

Evelyn Raven founded Raven enterprises, a global e-commerce company.

It's the third-largest e-commerce company in the world with a net worth of $400 million.

Evelyn Raven has two sons, Jonathan Raven and Francis Raven.

Jonathan and Ingrid had three offspring: Curtis Raven, Laura Raven and Betty Raven.

Francis, with his wife Helga Raven had two offspring, Gregory Raven and Jasmin Raven.

Mr. Woods, Evelyn's trusted lawyer, adjusted his glasses and cleared his throat.

Jonathan Raven, being the first son, was appointed chairman and CEO of the company, controlling 35% stake in the company.

Everyone nodded in approval as Jonathan had dedicated decades to Raven enterprises.

The family estate was also given to Jonathan's children, Curtis, Laura, and Betty, which was divided among them.

Francis Raven, Evelyn Raven's second son, was appointed COO of Raven enterprises with a 15% stake.

His two offspring inherited the secondary estate off the coasts of North Hills.

So far, so good, nobody argued with how their inheritance was split. It was fair and reasonable to the Raven family.

Evelyn also donated the sum of $15 million to various orphanages, foundations, and charitable causes.

Then Mr. Woods paused as he read the last paper. “There is one final bequest… to a man named Barry.”

Barry, who had been sitting on a low stool at the corner of the room, raised his head slowly when his name was announced.

He had been grieving Evelyn's death that he wasn't even paying attention to the will reading, not until his name was announced.

Everyone turned to stare at Moses, surprise written all over their faces.

“How is it possible that piece of crap gets a share of our family's inheritance?” Curtis said curtly. “He's an outsider. He shouldn't be getting a cut.”

“I agree,” Gregory stood up, agitated. He pointed an accusing finger at Barry. “Did you manipulate our grandmother to leave you a share of our wealth, you street rat.”

Barry's eyes darkened. He had had just about enough with the Raven family and their dislike for him.

“I did no such thing,” he said, his voice dark. “If you don't want me to take part in the inheritance, you can have it.”

Gregory hesitated. He had never seen Barry looked so sad and moody.

“Well, then,” Francis Raven urged Mr. Woods. “What did our loving mother leave her trashy grandson-in-law?”

Mr. Woods cleared his throat and glanced down at the document in his hand.

Everybody leaned forward, eager to hear what Evelyn Raven had left Barry.

“Barry is to inherit the White mansion off the coast of North Hills,” Mr. Woods announced. “He's also given rights to own Evelyn Raven's $10,000 funded Forex trading account.”

Everybody stood up sharply in shock.

The White mansion was worth over $25 million, too luxurious for a man like Barry to inherit out of the blue.

The Raven family erupted in anger.

Ingrid pulled at her hair, her voice screeching. “This is unacceptable. My children were given the family estate, but how come this nobody gets the White mansion, huh?”

“A $25 million mansion? You've got to be kidding me,” Curtis slammed his hands on the table. “Grandmother must have been out of her mind to leave him anything.”

“I smell a rat,” Gregory yelled at Barry, pointing an accusing finger at Barry. “What sort of lies did you whisper in my grandmother's ears while she was frail and weak? I don't believe this!”

Francis Raven walked up to Mr. Woods and snatched the documents.

“Give me that,” His eyes ran over every single detail of the will. “It's all in here. That bastard gets the White mansion and her forex trading account.”

Jonathan joined him and read the will. His face knitted into a thick frown. “Barry doesn't deserve this–any of it. As the first son of the Raven family, I cannot allow a stranger to own the White mansion.”

“Yeah, father, don't let him,” Betty Raven shouted. “How is he getting the white mansion and I have to share the family's estate with Laura and Curtis? It's not fair.”

Ingrid rushed up to Barry and slapped him across the face. “You entitled bastard. I don't care what my mother-in-law saw in you, but the rest of us clearly don't. If you know what's best for you, you'd reject this inheritance.”

Barry held his cheeks, his mind racing.

He was also shocked that Evelyn would leave him a home and not just any home, the White mansion.

The White mansion was the fifth most expensive private homes built in North Hills. It was too much for a pauper like him.

Suddenly, Laura who had been watching the entire scene in a brooding silence, stood up and cleared her throat.

The room fell silent as she spoke, “Well, now that grandmother is gone, I have a very important announcement I want to make.”

Barry looked at her, wondering what she was up to.

Her heels clicked sharply against the tiled floor as she walked up to him.

With one swift motion, she pulled out a stack of papers and thrust them into Barry's face.

“I'm getting a divorce,” she declared, a bitter smile on her face.

  • Barry's second wish

Sebastian stood guard over Barry as the night deepened, his eyes scanning the darkness beyond the balcony. Behind him, Barry sat cross-legged on the cold floor, eyes closed, breathing slow and rhythmic. His chest rose and fell like distant tides.Hours passed. The moon climbed across the sky, then began its descent. Sebastian did not move. He did not blink. The sky shifted from deep midnight blue to charcoal gray. The horizon began to pale.At precisely 6:02 a.m., Sebastian’s eyes narrowed.A mass of black lightning crawled across the sky, swallowing the light. It pulsed like a diseased heart, spreading veins of darkness through the clouds.“It is time,” he said quietly.Barry did not open his eyes. His breathing remained steady.Below, the streets of Liberty City were beginning to stir. Early morning commuters blinked sleep from their eyes, coffee cups in hand. Then they stopped as they stared upward at the unnatural sky. Some pointed. Some pulled out their phones. Then they saw t

  • Meditation

Later that night, Barry stood alone on the penthouse balcony, the city sprawling beneath him like a circuit board of light. Inside, the house was quiet. The twins were asleep. Security systems hummed softly beneath layers of magical reinforcement Sebastian had woven into the structure over the years. And yet, Barry couldn't relax. Instead, he stood up all night to keep watch over his family.Just then, the glass door slid open behind him.Veronica stepped out, wrapped in her silk robe, her bare feet silent on the floor. She didn't speak at first. She simply stood beside him, following his gaze into the sprawling city lights."Darling," she said softly. "Come to bed."Barry didn't move. "I'm sorry," he said. "I can't tonight. I have to stay up."She was quiet for a long moment. Then she sat down on the bench beside the railing, pulling her robe tighter around herself."I've been watching you all day," she said. Her voice was calm, but there was steel beneath it. "The way you drove. T

  • The danger lurking at every corner

The game ended with Daisy and Debby accepting their trophy with big smiles on their faces. Barry hugged them both, praised their performance, and guided his family toward the parking lot, positioning himself slightly behind them. His eyes scanned reflections in car windows, rooftops, and distant figures lingering around the parking lot.Veronica noticed his tension but said nothing. She simply held his hand and followed his lead. The drive home was smooth but Barry was more careful than before. He took two unnecessary turns. Switched lanes more than usual. Checked the rearview mirror constantly to confirm no one tailed them.To his relief, no black SUVs followed them. When they pulled into the private garage beneath Sullivan Tower, Barry finally allowed himself to relax. They were home. Safe and sound. Sebastian stood waiting at the entrance, his expression calm as usual, but there was a bit of tension in his eyes that he tried to hide.He stepped forward and took Barry’s coat

  • The final boss

Barry’s hands tightened into fists at his sides, his brow knitting into a thick frown. “I won’t let that happen,” he said. “Not while I’m alive. I worked for everything I have. I proved I was worthy of the blessings I was given. I endured trials, enemies, and bloodshed. Why should a man who failed be allowed to steal what I earned?” The Golden Cat regarded him quietly. “Because he is your final boss, Barry Sullivan. If you do not fight back, you will lose everything. Your wealth. Your name. Your family. Even your legacy.” Barry drew in a slow breath. The thought of some nobody stealing everything he owned was audacious to him. He'd rather die than let that happen. “Then I’ll fight,” he said, straightening his spine. “I’ll give it everything I have. If it comes to it, I’ll fight to my last breath. I didn’t climb to the top just to be dragged down by that man.” For the first time since this conversation started, the Golden Cat smiled. “Very well,” it said, lifting a paw. A shimme

  • Backstory of Donald Cage

“Donald Cage was not born to wealth, Barry,” The Golden Cat’s began. “Just like you, he was born to nothing. A street rat with no future nor glory.”The Golden Cat continued calmly. “As a little boy, he slept in shelters, polished shoes for salary men, and worked in the mines to cough up a living.”Barry’s attention sharpened. The Black Cat’s eyes narrowed. “And then one day, fortune smiled upon him. It was during the stock market crash of 1987. Black Monday.” The Golden Cat added. “But while the world panicked, and empires collapsed, Donald Cage prospered.”Barry leaned forward. “You made him rich?”“Yes,” the Golden Cat replied. “Donald amassed a fortune during the crisis. He became the first man in human history to amass a personal wealth of $100 trillion."Barry's eyes widened in surprise. "Unbelievable. You mean he was the world's first trillionaire?""Indeed he was," the Black Cat of misfortune responded, her voice raspy. “And that was the beginning of his downfall.”Barry rear

The afternoon sun hung warmly over the high school courts, glinting off the clean white lines and the taut net stretched between them.On the court, Daisy and Debby Sullivan moved like the perfect duo. They showed no mercy to the opposing team; bagging perfect scores for everyone to see on the scoreboard. The opposing team barely had time to breathe before the next serve came screaming in.Barry exhaled slowly, pride swelling in his chest.Beside him, Veronica leaned closer, her eyes shining as she watched their daughters dominate the court.“They’re incredible,” she said softly. “Do you remember when they could barely hold a racket?”Barry smiled. “They always had focus. It is impressive how far they've come. I'm super proud of them. I'll buy them a Manta-Ray custom Jet each for their birthday.” Veronica laughed quietly, then lowered her voice. “You know,
