After a brief moment of blankness, memories flooded back to Eric like a tsunami. He remembered being blocked by someone outside the company and being stabbed, but his recollection ended there.

The ward was silent and empty, with no one else present. Eric's gaze shifted to the dripping bag, almost hearing the sound of the glucose solution dripping.

Feeling a sense of relief that he was still alive, Eric let out a sigh. He had thought he was done for when he was losing consciousness. The faces of the six individuals who had nearly taken his life were etched in his mind.

Yet, Eric was perplexed. Besides David, he hadn't offended anyone, so who could be behind the attempt on his life? Was it a competitor or David himself?

Lost in thought, Eric was taken aback when Sylvia returned to the ward carrying breakfast from the cafeteria.
