"Meow" it purred, and the book of words and spirits began to glow with a shimmering light.

Anna sat at one side of the long dining room table, taking small bites of her plate of food while listening to her father's questioning of her from the main seat.

Jerome let out a long sigh and softened his tone calling out to his daughter, "Anna..."

Esme Crane did as she was told, twisting her body and stepping forward, raising her steel whip and striking it hard, using about 60% of her strength. The steel whip struck the shield, and with a crunching sound, Yena's shield shattered.

Esme Crane pierced the guard but never ended up attacking Yena either.
